Our Beautiul Babies are here at last !!

Post by Jo Radley »

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I did disappear again after my last posting, but I'm back - to announce the birth of our beautiful twin daughters!!!!!

On Thursday 15th April 2004, Charlotte Frances was born at 8.08pm by c-section weighing 6lb 8oz and Katherine Elizabeth was born at 8.10pm weighing 5lb 10oz. They are absolutely gorgeous, but again, us Mummys are biased (still feels weird saying Mummy, but we can officially say that now, can't we?!!!!!)

After my last posting at 33 wks, I blew up like a beach whale!!! Had ante-natal appt on Wednesday 14th April and they found protein in my urine, blood pressure had shot up etc. etc. so they kept me in (again!!) with an elective c-section booked for Monday 19th April. However, our little girls didn't want to hang around and I went into labour on the Wednesday evening. I continued to contract all of Thursday, but because I had the cervical suture and both girls were breech, I had an emergency c-section on the Thursday evening.

We came home on the Sunday night which was a bit of a shock as they initially said I would have to stay in hospital for at least a week as I lost a lot of blood and the twins were 5 wks prem, but fortunately, neither twin had to go to Special Care as they were fit and healthy.

We have got into a routine of sorts, I am breastfeeding both with a formula bottle at night to grab those extra few precious hours sleep - it's so true, I agree with you Nikola!! They both go about 3 1/2 hrs inbetween feeds and I've got it timed that I have about 45 mins to feed one before the other wakes up!!!

We didn't know what the twins were - Paul thought it was 2 boys, I thought it was a boy and a girl and so when they announced it was two girls, we were gobsmacked!!!! They really are Daddy's little girls though, I'm just Daisy the Moo Cow who feeds them!!!!!!

Both girls are so good, they only cry when they're hungry or have a dirty nappy - but I keep asking if this is the calm before the storm!!!!

Paul and I are still overwhelmed - we sit most nights just looking at them both, with tears in our eyes as we never thought we'd get here, especially after we nearly lost them at 24 wks.

All I keep saying to anyone who will listen is that pregnancy, birth etc. is a complete miracle and we have been blessed with two beautiful miracles to love and cherish for the rest of our lives.

Thank you so much to everyone for their support and kind words over the past year - although I haven't posted much during my pregnancy due to the complications and not to mention the 6 1/2 wks in hospital(!!!), I do try and keep up to date with all of your news and wish you all so much love.

Thanks to eveyone who replied to my last post, I didn't get a chance to reply to any of you as I use the computer in the office (as we work from home) and as it's at the end of the garden, I didn't venture out of the house for the last couple of weeks!!!

Anyway, must go and become Daisy the Moo Cow again!!!

Thank you for reading my news!!

Lots of love to you all,

Jo, Paul, Charlotte and Katherine

Hi Jo

Tracey Sharp emailed me your post cos I don't get chance to log on much at the moment (as I'm sure you'll empathise!!) but I had to come and say a huge congratulations!

Your story is so similar to mine - I spent a nearly three months in hospital before my twin girls came along - on the SAME day as your twin girls!!! 15th April!

Hope you are feeling better now after c/s - it takes a while doesn't it? I wish you so much joy with your girls, I'm sure you are feeling exactly the same as me.....totally amazed at how lucky we are!!!

Its fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you. Tracey and I have spent many conversations worrying about you!!!!

You enjoy your girls!

love nikola.xxx

Congratulations Jo and Paul!

How lovely to log on to this news. I'd guessed that you must be a Mummy by now but you kept us waiting for the good news. It was a bit spooky reading your post with the same dates as Nikola had - I had to re-read it to make sure I'd read the dates and details correctly!

I love the names you've given your girls (but as a Mummy to a Charlotte I'm biased) and they were jolly good weights for 35 weeks!

Enjoy being a Mummy/milk machine (I really missed being the milk machine when the time came to give it all up) and take care of you and those girls.

Love Jules
