scan after +ve

Post by bina »

Hi veryone on this side - feel only now a bit able to post on this side...

Well, eventually (last two weeks did not go fast enough) had my first proper scan and it showed a little 'blob' WITH a heartbeat; I'm sooo relieved! All seems to be OK, even if the blob is a bit on the small side. Apparently the size indicates that I should be 5.2 weeks pregnant, when in fact I am 6 weeks, but I assume this is nothing to worry about. The clinic said the next scan will show a lot more!

Only problem now is that I'm still feeling really uncomfortable (had horrible abdominal pain when on the pessaries and has got better since I stopped them). I can't stretch my back properly because of upper tummy pain and really feel quite bulky around the lower regions. If I'm meant to feel totally normal, that's definitely not the case at all. Has anyone else experienced this? The clinic don't really know what it is, but do not seem to be unduly worried.
Got to go back in 2 weeks' for next scan, so here's to another long wait!
Hope everyone else is doing OK!
Best wishes and GOOD LUCK to you all!
Love,
bina

Thank goodness - hardly done any work today (yes Dagny I know it is nothing new - just have the Bina excuse today!!! ) as been looking out for you.

Congratulations - don't worry about size (I know men do  ) but at that tiddly stage they admit they find it very hard to date it accurately and as they saw a heartbeat etc it is all fine - generally you do not get a heartbeat until 6 weeks plus so assume they might be slightly wrong with dates!

As for pains - not overly sure but I had some most alarming pains - it was the sodding pessaries and continued until I stopped them - those and stretchy pains - nothing to alarm yourself over just very annoying.

Ooooooh Bina

How exciting, you must have been so relived to see the heartbeat. It is such an amazing sight having another heart beating inside you as well as your own. I must admit I think my heart stopped beating whilst the sonographer was scanning me as I was so scared they wouldn't find anything

Tracey - do you really need to make someone else your scape goat coz youv'e done no work? Honestly, who will you be blaming next??

Well done Bina lookafter your little bubs.

Thanks girls - yes, I think all the worrying has only just started, but then again I don't want to be ungrateful - I'm just sooooooooo pleased to have got this far!
Here's another question though: I had been reading Merylin's book (Natural Solutions to Infertility) and would like to take her recommended supplements: zinc, lineseed and vitamin C; clinic wasn't too sure, but nurse fully supported the idea once I said where the idea was from (they know Merillyn and hold her in high regard), so I assume it's OK to take all that stuff?

Any wise word of experience most gratefully received!
And if I'm scapegoat for anyone, I'd happily oblige! I can't really post at work, because open-plan office, lots of nosy people etc. so I'm just pleased others can....! feel free to abuse....
Cheers,

Please don't give Tracey encouragement to crash other peoples threads! She's a nightmare for that.

Sorry, but I can't answer your question about the vitamins etc but someone will know.

Caz - Your last post, was that a vain attempt to get your posts up and into the Top 10??

Enjoy your pregnancies girls.

Bina I've noy got in the shower yet to come on here to find your news,I'm so happy for you both and it was really good that you saw an heartbeat,we cant wait til thurs are getting nervous as well.
Sorry cant help you with the pain, but if the clinic isnt worried then I would try not to.
I'm just taking pregncare and my chinese medicines I wasnt sure about the vit c as I was taking this during treatment but stopped when we got the + as I didnt know if it would harm anything, but if it says its safe then I think it would be fine.
Again so happy for you both, did they give you a EDD?

Bina

I have advice on vitamins but firstly just ignore Dagny - she can be so horrid to me. Caz see you are in silly mode already posting little posts to get your numbers up - honestly

Right Bina - in my opinion (feel free to take it or leave it) - I have the aformentioned book - fantastic and I hold with a lot or most of what she says and she is very well respected. All through my tmt I was taking zinc, Vit C, Pronatal, Vitamin E, fish oil and a selenium - yes probably did rattle. I stopped taking the fish oil immed - Marilyn says it's fine but was worried with the vitamin a - then stopped taking the selenium - that was A too! Took C for ages and the hospital etc were fine about it - then read baby don;t need too much C and as I was on loads of juice and fruit at the time (instead of chocolate which am on now  ) then stopped it - just on E and pronatal and zinc. HAve actually ran out of E yesterday (are you still awake) but was taken it as a natural thinner instead of aspirin. At 27 wks not sure if will continue or not but zinc is fabby. Take it - nothing will harm you with zinc and linseed.

Anything else give us all a shout
Love

I too conceived somewhere around April 1st/04 and had my scan on may 10th. with an approximate 6 week old baby (give or take a week).
Seeing the heartbeat was really emotional, as I've had an early m/c before and have had friends who have had scans show no heartbeat (yikes!)

Anyway, lucky you get a rescan in 2 weeks - mine is in a month! I'm dying to see the progress.

In the meantime, I'm on multi-vitamins, folic acid, icalcium/mag, iron, flaxseed oil and vit E (800) + vit c (1000). As long as you don't overdue it, excess c just gets eliminated by the kidneys. Apparently, its a good antioxidant and essential for good liver function (my naturopath recommends 500 2-3 x day). My multivit has 5mg Zinc.

Let us know how the 2nd scan goes!

Yvonne
