JCbaby - I also did a fresh in August and m/c at 8/10weeks (I had to have a D&C for a missed miscarriage). I'm still waiting for my AF so I can do my FET!

Krys - I also wish neither of us were here. I never got to do my planned Oct FET, or my planned Nov FET.... Hopefully December is my month!

It's actually not a bad thing. I was soooo dreading December, because the 26th is the one year anniversary of losing our twins. This way, I'll be stressed about the new cycle and think less about what could have been...

No Chrismas for me (a Jew, located in Jerusalem Israel!) which is a good thing for December IVFs - no doctors taking vacation!

Maybe I'll get a Hannukah present!

Life love - I'm sorry about your failed cycles. I'm also on my 5th, maybe 5 is a lucky number for us!

rypell - I'm on the suppositories now - trying to bring on AF. I've done both the suppositories and the injections... I can't decide which I like better! I hate the mess (ewwww) but the injections get more and more painful as you continue to inject in the same place every other day. Neither is good!

I also never get a period on my own - but I'm 8 wks post D&C and usually people get a period post D&C. Also, due to follow up u/s, I know that I ovulated, so the clinic expected AF to show up on her own.... of course, she didn't. I take my last dose of progesterone on Friday morning and should get a period 2-3 days later. My lining is current 18mm (!) so my period should be really really heavy. Ick.

Ugh - I'm sooooo sick of the mess from the suppositories and it's only been 2 days!

Hi all :) My husband and I are starting our first IVF/ICSI cycle. We did 2 IUI's about 8 years ago, adopted twice and now want to try IVF. I started Lupron tonight and we're looking at December 7th as a possible ER date. (Putting us at 12/24 for beta!!)

Baby dust to all! :)

Good luck Andrea... It can be quite an adventure. Wishing you well. I'm waiting for AF so we can plan our FET after 2 periods... We have 2 frosties but might only transfer one...

Thanks, nic! What side effects of Lupron have you experienced? When do the s/e usually kick in? How do you decide how many frosties to transfer? (ie, chances, religion, personal belief, etc)

This interrogation session is over, now ;)

Zen...I wanted to chime in on your Lupron questions. I started Lupron (20u once a day) on October 11. I was totally fine for the first week even though I had heard horror stories! It wasn't until the second week that the killer heachaches I heard of kicked in! After 2 weeks I wasn't suppressed so we went another week. During that third week the headaches got better, but I could definitely tell I was moody! After 3 weeks I STILL wasn't suppressed so they upped me to 20u twice a day for 2 more weeks. Tomorrow is my supression check....but by the 5th week I am DYING! The hot flashes, mood swings, extreme fatigue...I can't take it any more! I can't wait fr tomorrow's appt. DH and decided that if I am not suppressed I need to stop my meds because the side effects are killing me. I don't think it's normal to be on it as long as I have been, so hopefully yours will be a breeze!

I cannot wait to get this rolling already. I had my 1st fresh IVF tranferring 2 in Aug and got preggo with 1. Unfortunately 5 weeks in had a miscarry. Thankful no D&C. I had my 1st FET in Sept and BFN. So we are now moving ahead for #2, and we will be tranferring 2.

Any of you ladies take flax seed or CoQ10? some ladies are taking it on one of the other threads I talk in and was wondering if anyone here knew aboout it. I will ask my RE when I got see him once I get my period but that will not be until 10 days after I start Lupron.
Hi JC.. I start Lupron the day before you and will be transferring two embies tenatively on Dec 8. I am interested in learning about flax seed benefits..so if you find anything out please share. I'll do the same. Thanks and nice to meet you!

Ryann, thanks for the info! I am SO sorry you've been on it for this long! Sounds very unpleasant :( I've heard the same thing about the time it takes for the side effects to kick in. I'm going to a scrapbook retreat with my bff next weekend and am going to bring an arsenal of tylenol so that I can get some scrapping done :)

hello to all the newbies. There is a great person on here named Ghost who works in an RE's office and tries to answer as many questions as he can.

Also - I've been through this a whole hell of a lot - so try asking me! Even my RE says that I'm super-self-educated in all things IVF.

As for how many to transfer - I never know. Our first IVF we transferred 2 d3e... and I got pregnant with twins. We were super excited and scared. Then we lost our twins at 22 wks after baby A's water broke. There are so many unanswered questions about our loss... if it had been a singleton pregnancy, would this have happened? What happens if I get pregnant with twins again? There are no answers....

We have done 3 transfers since losing our twins last December....
(FET#1) - we had 2 d3e frozen. Since we only wanted to transfer one, dr recommended defrosting and growing to blasts. On day 5, one looked better than the other. We trasnferred that one. The other was discarded since it wasn't good enough to re-freeze.... BFN
(FET#2) - we had another pair of d3e. I had *hated* the 'growing to blast and transferring the better one' thing, so I convinced my RE and husband to transfer both - especially since these were the lowest quality embryos from my fresh cycle (A/B).... BFN
(IVF#2) - we ended up with 3 blasts. We transferred 1 - BFP - but missed miscarriage and D&C at 10 wks.

Now we have 2 frozen blasts. This will be our fifth transfer, and we don't have any kids at home yet.

I'm really pushing for transferring 2. My husband has changed his mind and also wants 2 now. My RE says okay, but thinks that we are crazy and extreme for risking twins.

We have until transfer day to decide - but I think we are going to do 2. Does that help answer the question of how many to tranfser? It doesn't help me!

Tomorrow is my last dose of progesterone. Then I should get my period Sunday or Monday - I start FET drugs on CD1 - yay!

I think it's interesting how much RE offices vary with proceedure, schedules, etc. Dr Thomas likes to transfer 2 at day three, but I guess it comes down to what the eggs do. I didn't know that some practices let patients decide how many to transfer. I think this whole world of IVF is fascinating :)

Does anyone plan to POAS before their beta? For like, a day, I'd convinced myself that I'd be able to wait. HA! Especially because our beta is estimated for Christmas Eve, I'd REALLY like to find out before then.

Oh, and I'd just like to report that I just gave myself my first shot EVER. For me, that's freaking HUGE. See, when I was a kid (ok, lying...this was through my 20's, too) I was TERRIFIED of needles. When I was a kid, they'd have to round up 5 nurses to hold me down. When I got older, I would get HORRIBLE nausea. Dang near panic-attack state.

I've been getting allergy shots for the past 2 years, and it's such a breeze now. I don't even flinch. That said, I still never thought that I'd be able to give myself a shot! And tonight, I totally did! I even fished out a sparkly, glittery bandaid to slap on my thigh :)

Ok, self-congratulating is over now ;)

Our RE told me we could do 1 or 2 it was up to us. As far as the days go he said it just depended upon how everything looks. He likes to wait 5 days though if at all possible.

I'm totally freaked about the shots! I guess you get used to it though. I'm hoping my DH will be able to do them for me

I wanted to try doing my first shot last night, but totally chickened out. Hubbster did it for me, but tonight, it was all me :D He's leaving on Sunday for a week + 1 day and I figured I needed to "man up" and learn how to shoot up. And as silly as it sounds, having really cool band-aids helps. I've got a glittery, disco-ball looking band-aid on my thigh tonight. Last night was Toy Story (I have 2 boys, so we've got manly band-aids in almost every drawer.) I started a collection on Facebook, and got a Hannah Montana band-aid from a neighbor. I told her that to show how much I *love* Miley Cyrus  I'd use that one for the first shot I get on my keister ;)

Hi ladies~
I'm new to the board and getting ready to start my first IVF/ICSI cycle. I start injections on 11/26 and our estimated date for ER is 12/6. It can't come soon enough! I just got my calendar on Monday and I feel like this has been the longest week of my life. DH and I have been TTC for nearly three years and have had a multitude of problems along the way. We're really hopeful this will work for us.

Here is what I found on Red Raspberry Leaf-

A Berry for Better Birthing
For centuries, women who were likely to have miscarriages took an herbal preventive that is also associated with a well-known fruit. Red raspberry leaf has the reputation of helping to relax the uterus. In addition to helping to prevent miscarriages, it is also recommended for infertility. ?Raspberry works by helping the fertilized egg attach to the uterine lining and stay attached,? says Jennifer Brett, N.D., a naturopathic doctor at the Wilton Naturopathic Center in Stratford, Connecticut.

Raspberry also seems to have a toning effect that helps women?s reproductive systems function normally. Nowadays, herbalists capitalize on this benefit by recommending raspberry for a variety of women?s problems, such as morning sickness, menstrual cramps, and heavy menstrual bleeding.

Compounds called tannins in the raspberry plant have an astringent quality?that is, they cause some constriction in cells that they come in contact with. When the tannins reach your intestine, they can help reduce inflammation, which is one way to reduce problems like diarrhea.

Raspberry also has some minerals that your body urgently needs to help incorporate liquids into your cells, so taking raspberry can be a good treatment for dehydration. It can give you a boost when thirst is making you feel exhausted.

If you want to give raspberry a try, it?s available at most health food stores in a number of forms?as capsules, tincture, and often tea.

before I started IVF, I was terrified of needles, especially blood draws. I have incredibly tiny, hard-to-find veins, which make blood draws painful and difficult. I have diabetic friends and I've always said that I just couldn't understand the self-injections. Now I'm an old pro! Things you never needed to learn about yourself...

I took my last does of progesterone today - I should get my period in a few days. I really really really hope that I get my FET this week!
