I've done this more than a few times and yet I am still unsure of what the most accurate answer is. I test out my trigger (or try to) but I've done this twice before and both times were a bfp. So, the hpt would fade to almost nothing and then come back. I'm a bit more skeptical this time but it looks like it may have happened again... so I'm gonna ask just for curiosity's sake.
If I tested at 7dpo and there was a super faint line, and knowing how fast the hcg is metabolized near the end of it's life, would I likely get another line at 9dpo with diluted sample (less than two hours after peeing the first time)?
I am currently 4dp5dt and the trigger was 11 days ago.
Anything that might shed light on my question? Is this likely the trigger still lingering, even after it was so super faint two days ago?

A positive is unlikely from any source at that time, but if it is positive, then it's from the trigger.

Like Tammy said, it takes about 10 days to clear the hCG. Sometimes a day longer or shorter in some patients.
The first positives from implantation are 5dp5dt, but often they show up later than that.

I also test out my trigger and last cycle I had a bfp and my trigger never became a negative it just became faint between days 7-10 and by day 11 it was clearly brighter. I am thinking you are seeing a BFP. BTW when I called at day 11 (so 9dp 3dt) my RE office told me that the trigger would be gone my 6 days or so and it was a bfp. Check again tomorrow as I am sure you will but I am thinking it is good new and I am ready to congratulate you. In my cycles that were negatives I didn't see a positive after 1 week from trigger and my RE uses Ovidrel . good luck

If the trigger was so faint at 7dpo how can it still be in my system two days later...? Time will tell, I pass it by playing the poas junkie game.
Well, maybe it is the real deal. Or maybe it's variation in the manufacture of the test sticks.
We've tested the blood at various times after transfer. The blood tests are more sensitive than the home pregnancy tests. We did occasionally see a true positive on day 4, but they were so low (at levels like 2 and 3) that the pee sticks would/should not be able to see it. The next day, a lot more showed up, and the levels were much greater, some high enough for HPT's to detect.

Alright Sonya (or anyone else that wants to weigh in)
Here I go with the POAS game....I am a mere 6dpo and already started obsessing. Well, I got myself a negative on HPT today. However, I didn't do first morning pee--was too tired and forgot until mid-stream. Then it was, uh, too late. So do you think that means the trigger is safely "out" of my system? I guess I should probably retest tomorrow morning to be sure. Then try to hold myself back until at least 10dpo. or 9dpo? That is when you saw a faint line, yes?
This is my first go-round with IUI instead of IVF, so I am also not sure if perhaps my levels will be a bit different--although not sure if implantation might happen sooner? Or later? than if I were doing an IVF cycle?
Sometimes I wish I could just relax and wait for my beta--8 more days!--but that isn't me. I am a true POAS junkie. Thank goodness for the dollar-store. The checkout clerk must think I'm a nut.

Hiya! My line never actually faded out. It was lightest at 8dpo and then def darker again at 9dpo. My beta on 14dpo was 138, and I go for my second one today.
I never got a positive on the cheapie test until about 12dpo. In my opinion, they are horrid and give both false positives and negatives - I do them for fun only, and to have something to b*tch about. LOL Seriously, though, if you stick with one test, you should kind okay as long as you trust that test. I always try to use concentrated urine if possible. That got a little harder b/c I'm peeing more already (I have a weak bladder to begin with). I'm not sure about your implantation - all depends on the embryo, you know? It can happen at anytime with IVF or IUI...

so since I am in crazy town here is my question. I triggered on 11/01 with ovidrel and because my frosties are 5 day blasts I had to wait until I ovulated on 11/3 and then until my body caught up to the natural point at which it would have blasts so on 11/8 we transferred 2 awesome blasts. Now I know that I am only 4dp 5dt which is ridiculously early but I am also 12 days removed from trigger and I am still/again seeing a faintest of faint lines. Yes I did FRER and it is still there. It is not bright enough for my camera to capture yet but DH sees it too without squinting. So here is my question. I know how early 4dp 5dt is but is it possible that this is the real deal? I know a few more day will show but looking at Sonya's photos here really gives me hope. Is 12 days enough to get rid of ovidrel?

Anna...I'm counting you only 11 days out from trigger. Did you test yesterday and today is darker? I think it is entirely possible that you may have just a tiny bit of trigger and a tiny bit of a BFP and together (if you add up the hcg amounts from both) it is enough to show up on a hpt already. So yes, I would think that you could very well be looking at a very early BFP! Fingers crossed. Tomorrow morning will tell you more. Good Luck!

Anna: I received my trigger on 10/26, ER- 10/28 and 5dt of blasts on 11/2. I tested my trigger out and it was gone 2dp5dt. I got a very faint positive 4dp5dt (11 days post trigger). My line continued to get darker and darker until my positive beta yesterday. It very well could be a BFP. Good luck!
Thanks Tammy. I will just keep testing in the AM. Unfortunately I did not test yesterday with FMU so I cannot compare. I am so hoping this is it for us. You are right I guess I am only 11 days since trigger. Lets hope tomorrow morning will give a brighter line. Last time I had a bfp I got it at 11dpo so hopefully another couple of days and we will have a definitive line
Crystal thank you so much. at 7dp trigger I didn't see a line anymore at all so I am cautiously hoping this is it. Which test did you use?

Anna: A better test is: what test DIDN'T I use. I started out with dollar store cheapos. The lines weren't great, so I branched out to EPT and FRER and the lines were much more evident. I tested like a lunatic until my beta yesterday which was 355 (14 dpo). If your line disappeared, then it sounds to me like you have to real deal!! I took my tests throughout the day, not necessarily in the morning. I really didn't notice any variation in the intensity of the line.
