I had an unsuccessful cycle in September. Since then, my AF has been appearing every 3 weeks and am also experiencing crippling stabbing pains (they're not constant, just a couple of times a day but literally double over in pain and cannot breathe for a few seconds until the pain goes) in the general area of my ovaries a day or two before AF arrives . Is this normal? How long before my system gets back to normal?

I would certainly get your ovaries checked for cysts or other issues... nobody can really tell how long it will take your cycle to get back to normal... mine seem to bounce back everytime.
