Hi Mom2b, I too am expecting twins after our first round of IVF and am just entering my 14th week.
They say my due date is May 4th but expect them to come a little early.
I have so many things to ask and to share.....How are you feeling?
How was your first trimester? Now that were in our 2nd trimester are you feeling better?
I seem to be feeling better but get tired easily as well as out of breath.
I am 37 and about 105 lbs soaking wet....lol so I am wondering how in the world my little body will carry these two blessings and gain 50 lbs in the mean time.
I think I am beginning to feel something strange going on in my belly, like possible movement but I think if I tell anyone they will think I am crazy so I keep it pretty quiet. My Husband thinks its great and pretty crazy that my belly is already popping, but the babies dont have anywhere to go but out in my little frame.

The doctor is putting me on delalutin when I reach 16 weeks to prevent preterm labor. I will receive this injection weekly until I deliver.
As of right now, I am beginning to have trouble sleeping, my hips are beginning to ache and the stretching in my sides and lower portion of my belly has me walking like an old lady.....lol

All of this for these two blessing, I will gladly take anyday!

Hope to hear from you soon!

I am mum to twin boys as a result of my 4th IVF cycle - they are nearly 9 months old now  I had a problem free pregnancy with one episode of bleeding at 7 weeks - no morning sickness and was induced at 38 weeks - no bed rest !! - although the last 3 weeks I was so huge I could hardly move ! I ended up having a c section as my first born was head down but decided labour was too much effort and tilted his head back - hence the section !! I even managed to breast feed them exclusively for the first 4 weeks then did mix of formula nad breast. They were 6lb 13 and 7lb 9 at birth too !!

The first 10 weeks just passed in ablur get as much support as you can to help you through this time - you will be sleep deprived like you never knew possible but all sooooo worth it - and it does get easier - although mine are crawling now and climbing up everythiung so i need eyes in the back of my head!!

Good luck ladies - and please feel free to ask any questions - xx

Hello hopefulta, I am so glad to talk to somebody who is expecting twins like me. I am due April 28th, so we are almost at the same stage.
My 1st trimester was pretty horrible. On my first 6-8 weeks, I came down with a horrible lower back pain and some mile bleeding twice. I was scared I was going to lose the pregnancy, but thank God I didn't. I had nausea's but only threw up a couple of time. On my 3rd month my hormones started kicking in and a I came down with a horrible depression and my appetite disappeared. I had to forced myself to eat and pretty much sustained myself with serial and milk. Withing the last two weeks, I have been feeling much better; I eat better and my nausea have gone away.

So far, I have gained 8lbs and my belly is definitely showing. Well, it has been showing for a while since,
a few people at work asked me if I was pregnant when I was only 10 wks. I am 35 years old and
135lbs when I got pregnant, so I might get close to the 200lbs..hahaha
My belly started to each already 'cuz of the skin streaching; so, I bought Coco Palmer oil at CVS and it has really helped.

I felt one of the babies moved right around the 12th week. At first, I thought it couldn't be because for what I have read, they start moving after the 16th weeks, but the one on the left is pretty active and I feel him/her move often.

Well, I hope to hear your experiences and I hope they are a lot better than mines.

by the way, I had trouble sleeping too and I bough a pregnancy pillow for $70 at Amazon.com
and it has been a life saver. I know it is expensive for a pillow, but it really helps. You must have a king size bed though, because it takes a lot of space.

Hope to hear back from you.

Hi Ladies,
wondering if I can join your chat?! I am 16 weeks pregnant with IVF twins :) Due April 22nd 2011 (although my Obs has already said he won't let me go beyond April 8th. We also have a little 2 & 3/4yr old daughter (also IVF ICSI). I am really feeling the effects of having 2 little munchkins on board, very sore pelvis and really tired, but luckily my nausea seems to be settling this week. I can totally relate to the sore hips in bed, I feel uncomfortable already, maybe I need one of those pillows. Today I felt the bubs consistently moving, such a nice and reassuring feeling.
Are you ladies going to find out the gender of your babies or wait for a surprise? We have our 19 week morphology scan on 25th of this month and we are finding our the genders, can't wait!
I am in Queensland, Australia.
Bye for now! :D

Welcome to the chat Antipodean. You are just one week ahead of me. I think we will find out the gender also. Last week, we had a special ultrasound and I asked for the gender, but they told me that it was only 80% accurate. So, on the 22nd of this month, we will know for sure.
Quick question, do you do any form of exercise? My OB is insiting that I walk for 30 minutes, and whenever I try, I come down with some kind of pain the next day. My pelvics always feel soo heavy.

Hi Ladies,
It's so nice to talk to people going through the same things.......
Mom2b2011 - I do exercise, but I too get very sore after. I walk 3-4x week ~30mins with our great dane, I find if I walk up and down hills the pelvic pain is much worse. I also teach pilates 1-2x week and get pretty sore after that too. Last pregnancy was soooo different, I walked every day with no pain, and taught pilates up until I delivered problem-free.
So it seems with 2 little bubs on board the body is under much more stress. I am a physiotherapist, and wouldn't advise to do exercise that is causing pain (although do I practice what I preach!!?) I highly recommend wearing a pelvic support belt around your hips, it really helps support the pelvis especially when you are exercising.

I have developed an umbilical hernia which possibly needs surgery in the next few weeks,it's very painful and in danger of becoming entrapped. Having surgery is the absolute last thing I want right now, but my Obs and the surgeon seem to think the risks are reasonably low..... does anyone know of anyone having this surgery?

Hi Hopefulat37, hope you're going well

wow, I am so sorry to hear about your hernia Antipodean. Take care of yourself and I will be praying for you.

I will look for the Pelvic support belt so I can keep walking. Eventhough I feel pressure, mentality and physically, walking helps me; so I need to keep it up.

Hello Ladies,

CONGRATS to all of you! I am sooo thankful for all your stories and tips. I will def. look into a pregnancy pillow. Funny, my husband mentioned it and I thought, eh....I will just use my body pillow along with some other pillows....lol well, 5 pillows later I seem to be sleeping a little better if my bladder wasnt the one to get me up in the middle of the night.....lol :)
I am def. feeling better than the first trimester. I have a little more energy but definitely get tired easily.
I just entered my 15 week and have an Ultrasound on Friday. My husband is hoping we are able to find out, but I am think it will be at our next high level ultrasound which is on Dec. 4th.

Honestly ladies, I thought it was all in my head that I might be feeling the babies roll around a little, but reading the postings.....I am convinced it isnt.
Even though this is my second pregnancy, my daughter is 16, it seems like the first time...and I truly feel so incredibly blessed.
I still worry, hoping that both babies are a good size and healthy when I give birth.
The baby on the right definitely seems more active, I feel movement often, where as the baby on the left is active but not nearly as much. Sometimes it seems that I dont feel the left baby move at all.
During our ultrasounds though, the right baby is ALWAYS the more active one.

I am anxious to hear how all of our pregnancies progress!

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to tell you that my little bubbies and I survived a general anaesthetic and my hernia repair. Very glad it's all over and is successful. Pretty sore and has really knocked me about, but the best thing was hearing the heartbeats on doppler when I woke up in recovery. I had a scan the next day and they looking pretty happy jumping around in-utero
Hope you all have a good weekend. We are going to New Zealand to see my family at the end of this week, so it will be really nice to have some family help around with my toddler. We have purchased out pram, Baby Jogger City Select, looks great, exciting!

Ladies, has any of you had the Spinal Befida test done yet?
I had mine done last week and my Dr. called me today and said that my test results numbers are a bit elevated.
He said that the normal numbers for twins are between 4.5-5.0 --- Mine came out to 5.9 and I am really freaking out.
The Doctor also told me that he worries when it comes out double or tripple, but I can't stop worrying since I hear the news this morning. On the 22nd, I have a high level ultrasound and they are supposeto to pay close attention then. I have no idea what to expect.

Please let me know if any of you have a similar story. My husband tries to tell me not to worry because the number is not too high, but can't help it... Eventhough I know it doesn't help me, I feel so down right now.

You poor thing mum2b2011,
I have had the nuchal fold test for Downs Syndrome, but was not aware of a specific test for Spina Bifida, except the high resolution ultrasound (which I had at the time of the nuchal fold test). It seems that being pregnant with twins skews the levels of test results, so I would really try not to worry yourself too much until you have the ultrasound which will certainly give you a clearer picture of what's going on.
Good luck, let us know how you go.
I'm exhausted after a full day preparing for our trip to NZ tomorrow, we have to be at the airport at 6am, yeeks! Sometimes it feels like sooooo much organisation to go away even for a week, hardly seems worth it!
Take care ladies :)

Hi Ladies,
Was wondering if you all are having a difficult time sleeping and walking and getting up out of the sitting position and crouching down....UGH! I have such muscle pain ALL the time.
I called the Dr. this mroning, he said is normal but OMG, I am not comfortable at all!

I have started feeling the babies move around and felt two little thumps on Sunday from the baby on the right. No thumps from the left baby yet.
We hope to find out the sex of the babies on Dec. 2, during our level 2 Ultrasound to look at their organs.

Were lkeeping our fingers crossed that everything goes good!.
