Hi Alice,
Congratulations, it must be so nice to have something to get excited about after such a long time.

We are now looking into adoption but not sure if we should go through our local council, private agency or overseas. What did you do and how did you make that decision? Can I also ask how long exactly has it taken you to get to this stage?

I hope that you get matched up really soon. & wish you all the best for the future.

Many many congratulations to you Alice. :D
What lovely news for you both and how exciting - it's going to be really hard waiting now!
How amazing to think that you are now kind of 'expecting'!
I am sure it must have been a very emotional, worrying and stressful time going through the selection process (the insecure bit of me would always be terrified that someone else would judge me as 'unfit' and further prove that I am worthless) - but look - now you've made it!
Well done you! :D
With the very best of wishes to you both
Lots of love from
Lorraine

Hi all and thanks, especailly to Dee its nice to know you still pop in every now and again. I don;t come here often now, but think its still a great site.

Rachel, just to answer you, we went through our local council adoption service, but did look at and speak to 2 other agenccies as some have selection criteria that we didn't fit anyway. I think the bigger the better as church agencies don't get as many children coming through them and untimately the wait is even longer than normal. Its taken us 1o months from beginning to end of the process, including the classes, whcih is about normal for all agencies. It has been the best decision we ever made and we don;t regret giving up on IVF one little bit. Its along wait till matching, but you wait 9 months to give borth anyway and they have said about a yearish?? who knows.

Anyway, happy to answer anything abouut our experience, but each agency is different. Love to all xx

Hi Alice,
Just wanted to say thanks for answering my questions. We spoke to a couple last weekend who had taken 3yrs (5yrs ago) this took me aback slightly!

It's great to hear that you don't regret giving up the ivf at all, it's so nice to be reminded that this nightmare will come to an end, one way or another eventually!

Did the fact that you had ivf count against you at all, did you have to wait a certain amount of months after treatment until they would consider you? I ask because I have read that this may be the case and as I have also had 2 miscarriages, I am wondering if this will slow things down for us too.

All the best. love Rach XX

Alice,
Great to hear your news. Now you know that you will be parents the wait will not seem so long. Congratulations for getting through all the assessments. I have been told that this is tough.
GOOD LUCK,
