good eve all, just got back from school...it was sooo hard to concentrate between my tiredness and headache..but i made it!

Thank you all for your warm welcome :)

Leorilla- thank you for your well wishes. Im hoping and praying that this will be your cycle as well!

Andrea- like leorilla said Tese is when they dont have enough sperm in the ejaculate and basicly gotta go in and get it out.
hoping we can skip that for DH's sake. (although its looking more and more like thats what we will be doing:(

So tomorrow i wake up bright and early and find out if im supressed and then we add follistim..
and now im off to take my lupron shot :( !! am i the only one that is such a baby!? it takes me like ten minutes each time just to get myself to do it!

I could not get the nerve to inject myself... Even after an hour of trying on the first day. I had my husband do it and it was such a relief. Is there anyone that could give it to you? I'm a major needle wuss and find it so much easier for my husband to do it real quick right before he takes off for work. I even try to not look at the needle.. It helps. Hope this helps

Welcome, Mishell!

I've never done the menopur, but folliSTING and I go way back. Follistim is quite the opposite of Lupron for me in that I hardly feel anything with the shot. I don't feel the needle, don't feel the "stuff" and the only thing I feel is a tiny bit of itching after, but that goes away in about 5 minutes.

Follistim made me a hormonal hot mess. I had a ton of follicles, which all gave off a ton of estradiol (200-300 units each, I think) and that stuff made me cry at the drop of a hat. I remember coming back from the grocery store and putting away a gallon of milk and absolutely losing it, for no good reason. Also, the follistim stung like an effing bee sting. I don't know if it's going to be different now, using sub-q needles (when we did IUI 8 or 9 years ago, our follistim injections were IM).

Don't mean to scare you...just want to give you an honest recollection of my experience :)

Ryann- I agree - FETs are sometimes MORE stressfull even though there is no stimming. I *know* that I have great embryos to transfer, which takes off some of that pressure. And fewer appts at 7am is much better for my sleep.... but I get nervous that things aren't going right.... but this is my 3rd FET, with the same protocol, so I'm sure things are okay. Sometimes you have to trust the doctors (not that I really do, but...)!

Mishell--- I got used to the needles really fast - since DH refused to do it for me! It freaked him out more than it freaked me out! I usually use progesterone suppositories, so all my injections were sub-cutaneous and I did them myself. My last pregnancy, they switched me to PIO shots - that had to be in my bum. So DH *had* to do them! He complained and bitched and cried! It was such a bigger pain that doing them myself. :D "men are such babies"!

Andrea - people always complain about the moodiness/hormones from the IVF.... I just get so stressed out that I don't even notice it! I know that I get really short with people and have no patience or mind for anything... but I always attribute that to stress.

Speaking of stress - I'm going for my first acupuncture appt today. I'm not convinced that it will help the IVF, but it might help me feel better (less stressed, etc), so why not? My husband asked "how much will it cost?" Really?! I pointed out that we spend so much money on this (and now we are looking to adopt which will cost upwards of $30,000!)... what difference does a few extra hundred dollars matter? In the scheme of things, this is not expensive. Hopefully it'll be good for me!

So I had my U/S and mock transfer on Tuesday and my RE said everything looked great! Ordered all my meds today and they will all be here in the morning. I also took my last BCP today and I can already tell my AF is coming tonight or tomorrow. So it seems like everything is right on track!!! (knock on wood!! )

Has anyone else had a mock transfer? It is so hard having a full bladder doing that! All I kept thinking the whole time was PLEASE don't let me pee on this man! I can't imagine what it will be like at the real transfer and then having to stay still for 20 mins! But we do what we must, right?

How is everyone doing? Still totally nervous about the whole shot thing. I had NO idea they went in your stomach! Ouch!!

Went Christmas shopping for my 8yr old DD today and was looking at all the little baby toys that I'm SURE we will be buying next year! Trying to keep that PMA going  .

Tons of prayers and baby dust being sent out to all!!!!

easley - I *hate* the full bladder thing! I haven't had a mock transfer - but I've had 4 real transfers! The worst is that they tell you to fill your bladder, then you wait. And after the ET, I'm supposed to stay in bed for 30 min. They tell you to "relax" - but it's absolute hell to lie still with a full bladder for 30 min! All I can ever think about is peeing!

Its good to hear what to expect durung ET...even though i know the 30 min wait will be treacherous. So thanks ladies for your info! I did supposedly have a Mock Transfer but the funny thing is they didn't have me do it with a full bladder. So now i'm wondering if it even happened. I had an ultrasound, then I had a hysteroscopy. With neither of these was I required to have a full bladder.. Hmmm?!

Mishell - Not all doctors require a full bladder (depends on whether or not they are doing with an u/s).

Hello Ladies! So I got all my meds in the mail and I am FREAKING out! There are so many! And I am having a horrible time with how I give each injection where and which needle goes with which med! Thankfully I have a few days to start ( Nov. 28th) so I can try and go through the box and paperwork again. They should include a "how to" video. Does anyone know if you have to inject the full needle?

How is everyone else doing? Any important dates coming up for anyone? One good thing about having to wait until the first part of Dec. for my retrival/transfer is all the running around for the holidays helps to take my mind off the time between appts. :)

Did anyone else have to take Dizapam for the transfer? My RE says 1-2 days of bedrest after retrival should be plenty but I see on here most women doing at least 3?

I pray everyone has a blessed and restfull (yet right!) holiday!

Hi, I had my retrieval in mid-August with a BFP but it sadly ended in m/c in early Oct. On the day of transfer they gave me something and said that I would sleep alot afterward. I thought they were exaggerating but I literally slept all day, just waking up for food or bathroom breaks. I felt fine the next day. Hopefully things will go smoothly for you. Good luck

Hi ladies. I too was given Dizapam (anti-anxiety pill) for the ET date. They told me it is just to relax me on that day. Tomorrow I start my stims and hope they don't sting as bad as I'm anticipating. Wish I could just get to my retrieval date already..Sheeesh! ;) Take care girls!

Hi Easley~
I start my injections on 11/26 so we're in the same boat this week. I just finished up my needle training this morning. The nurse showed me that I will be changing the needles on the syringes I received to much smaller needles. The entire needle needs to go in, but they are really short. It looked like a fairly simple process, but I'm sure I'll be freaking out come Friday!

Hi ladies... I just wanted to let you all know since some of you are just starting the meds..like I just did tonight. I did Menopur and the Follistim pen.. both I heard were real "stingers" but I really didnt think they were that bad at all. I am relieved that I know what to expect.

Leorira..I still don't know how you managed to do the injections yourself.. You are a brave woman! That's for sure. Oh and how did acupuncture go for you?

Easley..l also freaked out with the site of my full bags of meds..especially not knowing how each injection would be like. Like I said..they are a breeze so far and i'm sure we will see those bags deflating soon enough! :P

I'm just curious as to some of the side effects of these stims. I recall Ryann had a bad time with the amount and length of Lupron.. How're the stims going for you?

Zen..besides hormones...any other side effects I will be looking forward to? I think someone mentioned bloating?! I feel like its better when I prepare for the worse effects for the hopes that its not as bad in the end. Well... I hope you are all doing well..and taking it easy..even during Thanksgiving week. I have to start getting ready tackle the turkey so I may not be checking in as often in the next few days. SO if I don't... please have a happy and safe THanksgiving everyone!!!!

the first injection I did to myself - I totally freaked out! But then, it didn't hurt at all. The sub-q injections are a breeze! Trust me, it's a lot scarier than it looks!

Something that helps me -my DH makes a big poster board and buys cute stickers. Everyday that I give myself injections (or he does the IM ones), I get a sticker to put on my poster board. Childish, I know, but I love me some stickers! :)

No needles for me this cycle - so far. I'm just taking oral tablets. One of the advantages of FETs!

I went for SnS this morning - lining is at an 11. I don't know what that means. It's still really early for my lining to be so thick. The nurse says it's a good thing, but I'm worried. I'll get a call later this afternoon with bw results and some instructions on how to continue.

Stims tend to make me quite bloated. Make sure you have some comfy clothes to wear! (I explained to my boss, so I can wear yoga pants to work!)

worried for nothing!

Nurse called - everything is great and I shouldn't worry about the thickness of the lining. Thicker is better than thinner. I continue my estradiol tablets and go back on Monday for a SnS and to schedule the FET! Hopefully the first week of December!
