Blood test results - not looking good

Post by Dolly »

Hi there, the hospital have rung and the blood test results are not looking all that good. There were 56 on the first blood test and then only 78 on the 2nd - so not doubled. the nurse said it isn't necessarily bad news.... but I thought that if they didn't double it was a sign that things wern't progressing all that well.

I have to go back in for another blood test on Wednesday.

Why can't something go right for us for a change!!

O dolly - please dont give up - they have gone UP. Thats the main thing - it may just be taking some time to get going. it has been known. My friend who did IVY last year only had 19 to begin with and it crawled up - well now she has a beautiful baby! So dont give up!
Take care

Oh Dolly

You deserve for this just to be right for a change not all this "up in the air floaty stuff". They would have been much happier if they are higher but they have gone up and the doubling is a bit arbitary - they do not necessarily double each day - some do and some are much slower - also depends at what stage you catch them - this might sound daft but sometimes if you tested a few hours later they would have doubled.
AM just hoping all ok for you for wednesday.

Me too - good luck Dolly for Wednesday. Sometimes we all get really hung up on numbers, but look at all these miracles that kep happening.

It's horrible when you don't feel you know one way or the other, but try to stay positive and you numbers DID rise.

Take care and fingers crossed

Don't give up you never know....

Post by michelle30 »

Dolly - i've been reading all yor posting, just please don't give up, at least take comfort from the fact that something did happen.
I tested last tuesday with a result of 39 ( the hosptial weren't very happy with that), on friday when i went back after bleeding it had risen to over 170, but i was still bleeding.
i did a hpt yesterday and it was +, but the hosptial are still worried abot my blood levels, and have now told me the + hpt could have been just little bits of hgc left over. We put so much into analysising numbers and levels and feelings, we could drive ourselevs mad. At least yours rose!! and you did get a +.

So i'm in the same boat as you, hanging on for bloody blood restlts.
i hope that you get better results on wed, i'm having to go in on thurdsay - I think it's the waiting that does your head in.

Just have that drink and enjoy the sun.

Hi Girls, thanks for all your messages. I am feeling pretty down about the whole thing and just feel like climbing into bed and staying there for the foreseeable future.

Michelle, sorry to hear that you are living in a similar nightmare at the moment. I hope that everything works out for you. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday.

I just wish for once that something would go right. I feel like such a failure.

dolly if you feel like climbing into bed and staying there then do it.

this is my 4th icsi and i did that for the last 2, i jsut stayed in bed for 2 days my dh didn't now what to do with me - but then i jsut woke up one day and thought i had to get on with my life.
It took me 18months before i did another ivf, and here we are again.
just have a good drink it you want to. i did last week when i started bleeding and it made it feel so much better, althog the headahce the next day wasn't great!

Last time i found it very hard not to be angry with myself for it not working but time does heal - it's a crap cliche but it's true.
just look after your self and do what ever you want to do, that makes you feel better
take care

dolly, hang in there. i know it can't be easy to stay positive right now and you have had your share of unfairness. so if you do want to curl up then do it, but forget the f (ailure) word. no one knows why this happens and it certainly isn't for the want or the trying. it has to come right somehow, someway.

have you thought about asking for another scan on wednesday. maybe that will tell you something more.

praying for you.

Dolly I'm sorry to read your news but like Tracey has said they might have took your blood a few hours later, when we had our + testwe had to have tehm done again the week later but tehy werent high enough they were 773 an dthey liked them to be 2000 so we had an awful two day wait when we had to re test on the thurs when the results came back they were fine the nurse said that if tehy had tested them a few hours later then they would have been fine and we woldnt have to re test,so hopefully this will. be your case,I'm praying it will be.

Hi guys, thanks for your messages. I am feeling a little bit stronger today. And having your all to chat to is making it all less stressful. I am going to book a session with the counsellor as I found it very helpful when I had my last m/c.

One thing that has been niggling at my mind since yesterday is that my blood tests wern't 48 hrs apart. The first one was at 3pm on Wednesday and the 2nd was at 8.30 am on Friday. Do you think this would make any difference - I know I am clutching at straws..... but what do you think?

Thank you so much for being there for me!

Love

Dolly
I don't want to give you false hope, i know how it feels to want to clutch onto anything, but you're right not 48 hours there could be something in it.
at least the worrying will be over tomorrow.
Like Gem says a couple of hours can make a difference. and there are promising signs for you

Depsite bleeding (none since fri) I did a hpt again this morning and again it was +, so i jst don't know what is going.

hopefully one way or another we shold know by the end of this week and can then get on with the rest of his life.
just take it easy and try not to stress to much!

Hi Michelle, I am not actually holding out much hope. I have been here 3 times before and each time it ends in tears - so I doubt very much that this time will be any different.

I'm glad to hear that the bleeding has stopped. I have read that a lot of women who bleed in early pregnancy go on to have normal pregnancies - and hopefully your blood levels will have gone up again.

You're right - we should both know by the end of the week. And hopefully it will work out for both of us!

Take care
