NK Cells

Post by packer12freeserve »

Hello Everyone,
I feel a bit stupid asking this but hope that someone might be able to advise me. I am interested in finding out more about the test you can have done to check your NK Cells Level and know that some of you have had the test done so hope you can help.We have problems with the embryo implanting and have never been lucky enough to get a positive result after the 2 week wait and are not sure if you have a high level of NK Cells it can stop the embryo implanting. So far we have had 3 fet and 3 fresh cycles with a total of 9 embryos being transfered most at blastocyst stage and still nothing so i am sure that there must be a reason why they are not implanting. Is the NK Cell Test just for people who have had miscarriages? Also we are having alot of trouble trying to find anywhere that does the test and know that we will have to pay for the test so if anyone can advise us where they had the test done and how much it cost and lastly why they had the test done i would really appreciate it very much.I know i am being very cheeky and nosey so sorry but i just want to make sure before we have another go that we have done everything we can to give us the best chance.
Thank you very much and want to wish everyone lots and lots of luck with your treatment.

hi nicky, well i don`t know alot about nk cells but i had also read about it on here, and i have had 2 fresh cycles of ivf, first being a chemical preg, and the second early misscarraige 6 days after blood test,so i also thought there might be a problem,i am just about to start my 3rd go and when i asked the clinic they said i wasn`t in the position to have the test even though i offered to pay,and they said it is usually done for people who have had 3 attempts or recurrent misscarraige, but if this cycle is unsuccesful i will be pushing for the test.
have you asked about it at your clinic?
i wish you the best of luck with future treatments. love loopy. :)

hihi nicky, on my 4th attempt (3 -itves before) i changed clinics
and went to the lister, and they mentioned having a blood test for
nk cells, which came back that i was borderline so i was put
on a course of steroids straight after et, i got my long for +itve
and had to continue with the steroids till 12 wks then i was weaned
off them. I think i read one of the other girls post and they
said even though she was not a patient at the lister they will do
the blood test for you, i cant remember but it wasnt that expensive
i think maybe about £30.00 and if u need them the steroids were
only about £15.00 for 2wks supply. I would suggest u ring them.
Let us know how u get on alisonn

Hello
I have endo and before I start my 1st IVF tmt at ARGC in London I have had the NK test. My blood was sent to Chicago USA, the test was expensive £600 and it looks at all possible immuno problems. My test has come back as pos :( and I will be treated with steroids and immunoglobulin when I start my IVF tmt.
This NK cell theory is still very cutting edge I'm told. The test is not available on the NHS because there is no hard evidence to back it up. Only a few private clinics in the UK offer the test. I have never been pregnant before, but because I have endo - NK cells are often connected with it. I wish I knew more about it but I'm going through it myself for the first time. Hope this helps you.
Good luck :D

Thank you all very much for your replies.I have got lots of details about the Lister Hospital and they do the NK Cells test and it only costs £95.We are going to go to there on there next open evening on Monday 7th June so will hopefully find out if it something we can get done and maybe look into having our next treatment there. Thank you again for your replies and good luck to all of you.
