Hi, well my girls were due November 30th (40 weeks) and they decided to arrive at 34 weeks exactly, 10/19. About 4 weeks ago I was in for PTL and was put on Mag Sul and received steroids. I was discharged and continued with bedrest. Last week I had some watery discharge so I went in to L&D and everything came back neg for fluid leak, I was released. The watery discharge continued so two days later I called and was seen again in L&D. Again everything came back neg but I was having mostly painless contractions so I was given Mag Sul again. After getting off the Mag while being in patient I had a huge gush of watery discharge again, same as a few days before, I had it tested right away and it turned out to be positive for fluid. So I had been leaking for about 3 days but not sure why it was not being detected before. Received antibotics and was being watched, cervix still close. The next two days my contractions were increasing but still not really much cramping, they were 2-5 mins apart, at that point due to the increased contractions and to avoid infection I had my girls by Csection. That is another story but everyone is doing well. I still can not believe I was not having pain with my contractions. Baby A, Marisa weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces and Baby B, Tori weighed 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Both babies are doing very well, there are no serious issues, but will be in the special unit for a couple of weeks since they are preemies. I have to say, it is so true that we know our bodies best so it is important to follow your instinct, if something does not feel right or you have doubts, don't ignore it. Anyway I just wanted to share my story and I wish best of luck to you all.
Congrats dolo!!! So happy you and the girls are doing well, but so sorry you had to go through so much!
I was in last week for a few hours due to a lot of pelvic pain and they saw I was having contractions. They weren't regular, but enough to give me an IV and some Visteral. Since I didn't progress (I was 1-2cm and had been only a fingertip two days earlier) after a couple of hours, they let me go home. I am taking Visteral a few times a day, though it only helps a little. Still have those irregular contractions and they hurt (OW!) from time to time, so I'll be interested to see if I've progressed any further when I see my OB on Tuesday. I just started having mucous-y discharge today, so I definitely think something is getting started. I've been on bedrest (more so than usual) since Thursday, so we'll see. I'm really hoping to stick it out a little longer, but I'm not totally convinced I will.
Again congrats! Hope the girls can come home soon!
We just found out that we are expecting Identical twins yesterday, what a shock. Last week we were told one and there was no heartbeat. Went back for what I thought would be the end of our pregnancy and got the greatest news ever
There were 2 perfect heartbeats and they are not close together, total opposite sides of the placenta. Now to fight the all day sickness for however many weeks. We have a due date of May 30th.
Best of luck to everyone here!
I stopped to check my email a few minutes ago and was one of my older sister. She is a person who has always been in my corner. Which is full of advice and lots of know-how when it comes to surviving childbirth. With three children of her own she had lots of practice.
