Re: Summer 2011 Pregnancy Group - Welcome!

Post by baby_blu73 »

So the OB/GYN office contacted RE's office, even though I officially graduated. My former APN called and said that the pelvic rest is recommended for 7 days after bleeding stops. Which mine did later the same night it started. So we were cleared (technically) 2 weeks ago! LOL It's not much of an option while I'm still on Prometrium, it kinda grosses us out :P But, my last day of the wonderful yellow inserts will be next Monday, thank goodness! I'm ready to not have to worry about remembering to do those 3x a day.

I feel as though I have enough "morning" sickness for me and everyone else on here! It's torture! I feel like crap every day, except I felt great yesterday, very little nausea. Then I wake up today and am completely useless. Extreme dizziness when I stand, nothing goes down without a fight, I'm barely able to keep it down, etc. I'm officially 9 weeks along today, so I'm inching ever so closer to the weeks that this awfulness should be subsiding. I'm really looking forward to feeling better.

Have a great evening all!

Stephanie - Sorry you're feeling so yucky (but I know on the other hand, we all pray to feel yucky because we've waited so long for the chance to have morning sickness.) :D Hopefully though, you'll be feeling better soon.

Gina - I don't blame you for considering ditching the OB/GYN and I really dislike how docs/nurses try to push you into tests. I'm all ready to fight that battle when they start hounding me. It's one thing to do scans/bloodwork, but I don't plan on doing any invasive procedures (amnio, etc.) - I'm not taking any chances after getting this far. Is there another office that also works out of that hospital with the good NICU?

Sonya - How are you feeling? I loved how you said your body belongs to bebe for now. DH & I haven't had "activities" since just before ER so we're both feeling tortured. But we're holding off until we've seen a specialist about this cervix of mine and we get an all clear from them.

AFM, I have a bunch of appointments the next 2 days. I meet a new OB/GYN tomorrow morning (even though I haven't graduated from the RE yet, I wanted to make sure I got established as a patient as my cervix is going to make me high-risk by default), we go see the RE tomorrow night for u/s # 3, and then Thursday morning I go see an expert on issues with the cervix to get his recommendation on how we should proceed - cerclage or not (thank you Karen for the info & referral!)

Hope everyone has a good night! And p.s. keep u/s pics coming as you get them - we all love to ooh and ahh over them!!

So I thought I was getting better and I'm starting all over again with the major bleeding and cramping tonight. I'm just going to lie in bed and see how things go tonight. Last Tuesday I had gone to the ER and they didn't really do anything so I figure why bother. My doctor told me bed rest wasn't necessary and that "whatevers going to happen will happen whether you run a marathon or stay in bed all day". Well I'm done with him and will make some calls tomorrow.

Gina- Sorry to hear your body is torturing you again. Hopefully you can find a new OB who has more interest in things and realizes how important all this is. Hope things got better after you rested last night.

klinger- Sounds like you have a lot on your plate the next few days. On the plus side you get to see little bean again to make sure things are going great in there. Keep us posted on how all the appts go. And feel free to post a pic of little bean once you get one!

baby_blu- Ive never done the Prometrium but I never liked the idea of it. Instead I get to jab a big needle in my hip every night and hope it doesnt knot up on me. Glad to hear you are "released" and free to carry out the normal "activity." Stinks that you have morning sickness but like someone else mentioned- you should be happy that you know things are still going great in there. I have always said I would rather be sick just so I know I am still pregnant. At this point I just get waves of feeling really full and a little queasy...but no full blown nausea. Hopefully yours will go away soon and you will feel much better.

dandme- I cannot wait until friday. I really feel like this has been one of the longest weeks ever...and its only Wednesday. I cannot wait to have a new picture on friday (since the last picture I have was of the 3 embryos we put in). I think the office I go to does another US around 8-9 wks before they release you to the regular OB. How I love the waiting games we play though.

AFM- Just trying to get to Friday afternoon. Same symptoms I have been having with nothing really changing. When did everyones morning sickness kick in? Just wondering if Im one of the lucky ones or if its coming soon. Im 6wks today.

Gina I'm really sorry you are enduring this.. I strongly disagree that what will happen will happen... and think you need to follow your instincts and take things easy. Please let us know what's happening as it unfolds. It sucks hard that you are going through this, even though things are most likely just fine, the mental stress is nothing to be ignored.

Amanada, I'm anxious to see what is happening with your next ultrasound. I've never heard of anyone getting them so late in the day, do they have a special pregnant-lady torture plan in place for you? :) I know your cervix is of great concern to you but it sounds like you are really covering your bases this time and are willing to do whatever it takes to keep your bebe safely snuggled deep inside. I can completely understand your abstaining with a cervix issue, and although you must miss the intimacy and closeness, I would be freaked out and too worried to enjoy anything. DH and I have resumed things to some degree... but few and far between and careful... which kind of takes a lot of the fun out of things. I'm sure we'll all be more relaxed in a couple of months.

Baby - that's funny that you guys were cleared for takeoff two weeks ago. LOL I hear you about the prometrium. It's icky at the best of times, but really just a cream. I'm only on them for another week - OMG it's hard to believe I'm in my ninth week.

As for the morning sickness, I don't have a lot... I get one good wave in the mornings at times, when I first wake up, where I actually hit the toilet and gag... but other than that I have to keep myself well fed and I'm okay. If I get too hungry I get really queasy. I haven't gained any weight yet so that's a good thing. As long as I keep myself rested and full, I seem to do a lot better. As soon as I work too hard or go 5-6 hours without eating I really feel it.

I guess I need to call my clinic to arrange for the nuchal fold scan....

My ultrasound is this afternoon at 1 - not sure if David can make it this time because of his work (he's 45 minutes away on a huge pipeline job that is in the throes of winding down and he's one of the inspectors). So that would be over 3 hours of time in the middle of the day and it's dark here by 5:30. Ugh. It's not a huge huge appointment, but still would be nice for him to be here.. my mom is gonna stand in if he's not available. She's never been to an ultrasound - 8 kids, 22 grandkids and 23 great grandkids (I think.. been a while since we counted). So over 50 direct pregnancies/births as a matriarch and never seen an ultrasound. LOL

Sonya- I'll be thinking of you today! All will be just fine for your u/s! xo :)

Gina- I'm sorry the bleeding is back. You are right just to rest. If it keeps up, please get an u/s. I would find a new OB, too. Or atleast try. Although what your old one said is correct to some degree, it's just not the right thing to say at the moment. Hang in there! I know it is scarey. I've been there.

I gotta run...and will do more personals later. Have my first u/s tomorrow. So excited I can't stand it! xoxo

Hi ladies! Ok, I got really lazy and copied most of this from what I posted on the Fall Cycle Group so forgive my laziness. Our one little bean grew a lot in the last week. It's now measuring 7w5d (and I'm 7w6d) so it gained a few days there. Heartbeat was 167 bpm and we could see little limb buds starting! It was amazing. DH & I were just awestruck and on the verge of tears. The second sac is still growing (a week behind) and it's still empty. So eventually it will realize there's no baby inside and my body should reabsorb it. Then the RE said that was our last visit with them and when we said our goodbye's and thank you's I burst out crying. The doc I saw tonight was the doc who did my emergency surgery in August and was able to save my last ovary. So if he hadn't been able to get that damn tube off of the ovary then, we wouldn't have been doing IVF at all. I'm so glad he was the doc we got to see for our last (and wonderful) appointment!

Sonya- how exciting that little one is growing so much! I think tomorrow when I go I will probably be in tears just because I feel like its been such a long road to get to this point (and will continue to be long until I am holding the baby in my arms). Glad you graduated to the regular OB and that it was the doc who saved your ovary. When do you go to see the regular OB?

Rio- Good luck today!!! Ill be stalking you on both our boards I guess so I can hear about the 1st US.

Karen- Good luck to you too on your 1st US! So jealous that you all get to see your little beans today but cant wait to see your pics!!! What time is your appt?

Amanda- Howd the US go?? And did DH get to go with you? Cant wait to see pics. I know exactly how you feel with the morning sickness or lack there of. If I dont eat I feel gross, but then as soon as I eat something small I start to feel gross too. I usually feel the worst as soon as I wake up in the mornings when I am getting ready.

Hi Blair - Good luck with your u/s tomorrow! I know it's going to go great and we can't wait to see pics!I think Sonya's and my names are reversed in your post (our bunch of ladies to keep up with is getting larger) but yeah, it was great to have that RE that we were so thankful for be the one that's there for our last visit. I did see a new OB yesterday, but I really didn't like them. They are completely against cerclages because they say there's no proof that they work. Now I'm not saying they always work and heck, I don't even know if I'll need one (I see that MFM that specializes in cervix stuff today) but if I do need one I want a doc that's going to be supportive of it. So we'll see what happens with today's appointment with the MFM and then I might be looking for yet another OB, ugh! (Oh and they were super pissed that I'm consulting with someone outside of their practice...too bad!)

Rio - I wished you luck on the Fall Cycle thread too, but good luck today with your u/s and you'll definitely be joining us for good after today!

Karen - Wishing you good luck for your u/s today too! Can't wait to see all of these u/s pics for our group!

Sonya - Can't wait to hear about your u/s yesterday! Hope David was able to make it, or your mom for that matter. After all those kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids that probably would have been exciting for her to see.

Hi ladies. So u/s went great! They saw the gestational sac and the yolk sac. And just ONE this time! :) I'm 5w2d so too early for HB. I didn't realize until after I left (b/c I was so excited and happy) that they didn't give me an u/s pic!!!! I'm going to ask my nurse when she calls me today with my b/w results if they can print one out for me and I'll come get it. I want to start Baby Smith's scrap book! And of course will share it with everyone! So I'll return to RE in about 7-10 days for HB check. Yeah! :)

Karen- How exciting!!! Im so glad that the US went great and you got to see your little one. Since you said that you were so excited you forgot your picture Im going to make it a point to try and remember mine tomorrow. Its also exciting that you only have to wait 7-10 days to go back! Hopefully you are still feeling good and that little one grows a lot between now and then so you have lots of pics for the scrapbook. Once you get the pic from the office you will have to post it for us. Congrats again.
