Thats the thing i worried most about FET cycles - whether my babies would survive the thaw. Then my clinic changed their procedure where they would thaw out the embryos on the day of transfer and transfer them straight away. I felt cheated - i wanted them to thaw overnight and grow, just so they can prove to me that they are healthy so i'm not hoping for something thats not going to happen.

I have 1hatching blastocyst on ice- but have decided to only do fresh cycles for the moment. I have done so many FET cycles that have failed....im in a period of hating FETs! But i know people do have successful FETs - i just feel that after 5/6 cycles of them all failing, maybe my body doesnt respond well to these cycles????

Good luck at your FET transfer - im nervous for you. Remember to take care of yourself and take it easy. For us IVFers, the first week or so after the transfer is so important.....we have a foreign matter in our bodies, and its our bodies natural instinct to get rid of this, hence we need to make sure that the environment is as receptive of the embryos as possible SO REST ! you're pregnant until that beta tells you otherwise! 8)

'Feel a bit like I'm stepping into a private party of friends - I hope that you don't mind! It sure is good to read everyone's posts. I live in a remote area where people don't talk about sex, let alone ART, and have had to travel to a larger centre two weeks for the stims/ER and ET - so it's really (really, really) a relief to read that my anxiety/stresses/thoughts aren't completely out of whack!

-

Please dont feel like your not apart of this group CeeBee - this is for everyone. I feel sooooo much better just talking about what im going through...even if no one cares or listening...i feel so much better being about to "tell" somebody. I find that when Im reading other people's posts- that im not alone and my worries over every blood test or ultrasound is not "obessessive" nor is it "crazy" that I start searching the internet for answers when something happens to our bodies and we dont know why.

Telling other people about it and having someone tell you they are going through similar things, makes you feel "better"...like u're not an alien or something? do you know what i mean?

It must be super hard for you, having to travel so far to do a cycle. My heart goes out to you....i hope ur ER goes well...let us know.

Hi ladies, just wanted to give a quick update. ER went okay yesterday.Still a lttle sore. As expected RE retrieved only 6 eggs total.. 3 of which were mature. So I am a bit bummed about such a low number of mature eggs. I haven't gotten a call yet about how it went overnight so i will update you soon. Im trying to keep my PMA knowing that it just takes one good egg..but its hard.

layla - I totally get you! I have seriously lost hope with FETs.... I have done 4 transfers - pregnant on BOTH fresh and NEITHER FET.... but my insurance (which covers my costs completely) will only pay for fresh if there are no frozen.... so here I am.

We did grow embryos after a thaw and it was awful. My first IVF, we transferred two 2 day embryos and I got pregnant with twins. We lost them at 22 weeks. So we only wanted to do SET, but all 4 of the frosites we had were frozen in pairs. Besides my clinic likes to do SETs with blasts, not 3 day (not high enough success rates). So our first FET, we defrosted two 2de and grew them to blasts.... the LOOOOONGEST 3 days of my life! I was dying to know what was happening. If they both died, we wouldn't have a transfer at all.... I hated it. In the end, we transferred the better of the 2 blasts, but the other wasn't good enough to refreeze and we threw it away.... BFN.... ugh. So the next FET, we transferred both 3de.... BFN.

For my fresh this summer, because of my past experience, we grew to all the embryos to blastocysts. Of 18 eggs, I got 3 blasts. The doctors were disappointed, but I wasn't! I don't really trust FETs! So we transferred one blast - BFP - missed miscarriage. Now I have 2 blasts.

Up until tomorrow morning, I can decide how many to thaw/transfer.... we are really leaning on transferring both. My doctors don't think it's a good idea.... but we are getting desperate and stressed out. What if we have one frostie left, who doesn't thaw on that FET cycle? UGH, there are just so many questions we can't know the answers too....

So Ithink we will transfer both blasts tomorrow.... I'm not super optimistic that this FET will work... but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised!

CeeBee - welcome! Of course you are welcome here! I was intimidated when I started out on these boards, but the ladies here are awesome! The "fall board" (which should be come a "winter" board in a few days) is much more active, since not many people get to cycle in December (because of hte holidays). You can come join us there too!

Hey everyone,

Well everything went great this morning. They were able to get 6 mature eggs out, I'm not sure how many total though. They are going to call me tomorrow morning to let me know how things go tonight and what day I will have my ET on next week. Very excited, I guess that 6 mature is a good number? I only need one right? I'll do more personals later, still a little sore and groggy. I am thinking of all you ladies though and I'd be happy with 3 mature!

Sweetie....cheer up its ok. Remember my story of my first IVF cycle???? I had ONLY 3 eggs. I cried at the hosiptal because the girl next to me had 11. BUT out of those 3 eggs, all 3 were mature.......2 grew to blastocysts....and we transferred one...who is now my 20mth old DD..

Hold on to the hope that your babies will be as such a fighter as you are...

PLEASE let us know the progress of your babies.....because believe it or not, I believe that they are babies already (no offense intended for those who believes differently). Whether or not they are blessed to grow we cannot obviously know or do anything about.

Thank you Layla! I do feel a bit better and thank you for your words of encouragement. I hope u are feeling okay with a small number also. after doing all kinds of research.. smaller numbers retrieved seems to yield higher quality. :)

I realize now I didn't post onto this board after re called today. So 4 out of 6 eggs retrieved ended up fertilizing.. So that's better than 3. Don't really know how though.. There were only 3 mature at re. Perhaps one matured overnight?? Well im feeling optimistic about it all.. And we are still scheduled to transfer 2 Monday morning. I really hope they all survive so we can hopefully have one or two to freeze... But I'll be cautiously optimistic about that considering the odds.

Good luck Leora (for tomorrow) and Layla (for Monday)!!!! Feeling lots of Positive vibes this week!!! :)

Thanks, all for your welcome. I'll crash your kind of party any day :)

I've had a few slightly achy hours back from my ER and just had a call from the lab. Not a good call :( Apparently the donor sperm that we are using has "motility issues" and so the only way to save this cycle (11 eggs retrieved) is to go straight to ICSI. I don't know a thing about it, other than there's more intervention and money involved...

I'd been feeling pretty positive, given the number of eggs retrieved - but now just feel kind of sick. We've done absolutely everything that we can on our end to make a baby - and the one piece that we've less than no control over bombs. Does anyone know anything about ICSI? I've googled it, and have read really mixed reviews. We've got a call in to our Doctor for Monday, but that leaves a day and a half to obsess. Sorry to vent!

Do keep up your good thoughts, Cshell, I'm focussed on the "it only takes one good one" stream, too. Good luck Leora and Layla, and great that everything went well for you this morning, Easley! Looks like I'll be tracking in terms of my embie transfer with you ('tho we're likely looking at a day 5).
