Hi Ghost! I was so lucky to get pregnant from a FET in March of 2009. My baby girl will be 1 a week from today. We still have 4 frozen embryos (from the same batch that our daughter was conceived). These frozen embryos are from October 2008.
My question for you...does the length of time that embryos are frozen have a negative impact on their quality? I still don't feel ready to dive back into the world of IVF...even for a FET. But, I'm worried that keeping them frozen for too long will affect their quality. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much in advance. When I was going through all of this in 2008, you were a great help. I hope you know that you are doing a great thing by "listening" to everyone on this board.
Happy Holidays!
Me: 35 no known issues, DH 35 low morphology (2%) and low motility, bilateral vericocelectomy
IUI with clomid #1-#3: all BFN
IVF#1: BFN
IVF #2: M/C at 8 weeks
FET #1: BFP! DD 2 yrs old!
Trying for #2 soon and anxious again...didn't think I would be.
Funny, I just came across an answer to this question. This doctor at http://www.ivf1.com/long-term-embryo-freezing/ says viability of frozen embryos does not appear to diminish even after 10 years.

Multiple studies have found no impact from the duration of cryopreservation. I've never seen a study that found any impact.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
