I have constipated (severely) for 3 weeks now . My nurse told me I could take Colace and Metamucil together. Nothing seems to be working. i am afraid that as I am straining (sorry for tmi) that I am pushing my embryos out. Is it possible to strain so much that it causes the embryos not to implant?
Hrobinson - If that combination didn't work you can take a laxative as long as it does not have a stimulant because stimulants will cause the uterus to contract or cramp, which might expel the embryo. Something like Phillips (the one that states laxative free on the bottle). Trust me; I think a lot of us feel your pain! But, remember to run everything past your RE first. But, mine said it was ok.
I just re-read your post; if you more than a week or two past your transfer you shouldn't have to worry about expelling your embryos. But, the above advice should help you!
Thanks for the reply. I am not even a week past transfer date. I transfered last Sunday. I sometimes feel like I am straining so much that I am causing my uterus to contract. I certianly hope not.
Honestly whenever I feel like I have to go I drink a cup of coffee. RE and OB both said small amounts of caffine are ok. I have 1 cup a day in the morning like I always have. Even when I was on my 2ww. No coffee for me = big headache! Check with RE but 1 cup does it for me almost every day. Good luck getting some relief!

My clinic recommends laxatives much like what you are taking. I've never heard the docs say it might threaten the embryos. If you are a weak past transfer, then they have already attached if they are going to.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
I had SEVERE constipation leading up to my transfer and was a basket case!! My doctor recommended I try Miralax. So starting on my retrieval day and to my 3day transfer I drank the Miralax every morning. I took Colace at night and drank enough apple juice to sink a ship. And finally in the middle of the night right after my transfer I had success. And I was a basket case from then on to my beta thinking that I had strained too much and my embryos went away. But luckily they did not go away and I am currently about 12 weeks with twins on the way!! Good luck to you, I think that whole potty situation is just down right miserable. But really try Miralax and apple juice, I promise it should help get things moving along.
