Tammy--I really trust your instincts. I totally want to know why he wouldn't add an antagonist and let some more grow--and why I wasn't seen Sunday, and why I am having IUI after 24 hours--but truth is there isn't much I can change now for this cycle. BUT--if we need (and are financially able) to do another cycle I need those answers before we move forward.

There is some danger in having too many follies with an IUI. That's what happened to Kate Gosselin. Usually 2 to 4 good follies is about the limit for an IUI.... I don't understand the early insemination, either, unless he's doing back to backs. Unless you have sperm issues, or cervix issues, the actual insemination only increases your odds of conception by 5%... I'd do as much BDing as possible afterwards as well.

Margi - Sorry you are down! I don't understand either why they did not give you cetrotide? But my clinic will not do iui with more than 4 mature follicles either. They do back to back iuis, but I would rather do one. The sperm quality decreases for the 2nd one anyway. Good luck!!! Keep up some PMA!

Sonya-No sperm or cervix issues--just "old" eggs. As you can see I have been through 3 IVFs (w/4 embies put back each time) and this is my 3rd IUI attempt. I am not worried about becoming another "Kate" in the least. I am just getting tired of this difficult journey and the pain with all the loss and disappointments. And my clinic can be very frustrating. OK-enough pity party.

Hopefully all will go well. On a separate note--help me with this logic, please:

1-Ovulation is 36-40 hours after trigger.
2-Washed sperm live 12-24 hours, whereas "regular" sperm live up to 72hrs.
3-And the eggs don't last long after ovulation and really need to be "met" by awaiting sperm.

Do I have that correct? So if my IUI (tomorrow morning) is planned 24 hours after trigger (10 am today) we should BD tomorrow night and before (tonight?) as instructed? Or will that lower DH's count if we BD tonight since he will need a good specimen tomorrow a.m. and we already BD'd last night in case of ovulation. Did you follow all that BD'ing?

I am sitting here waiting on my results....just 20 more minutes or so. My clinic waited all day to give me the go ahead to get an early beta...I called them 4 times in 6 hrs. I am pretty pissed off, because I stopped my shot last night, and now just maybe there is a line after all, and I needed my results right away, so I could take the shot right away. If you're reading this and can send some quick prayers for me...I'd appreciate it. After today's pee stick (and looking at some of my old ones from this weekend)...there might might might be a line...but it might be an evaporation line, too.. I dont know. I'll know shortly. I'm just praying sooo hard right now. The reality is...if it is positive...it is only around 10-15...because of how faint it is...so not good anyways at 14dpo. In case you're wondering...I didnt just go ahead and take the shot after all this morning...cause of the welts and itchiness and cause really I dont want it to hold up my AF any longer than need be...to maybe get another cycle, last cycle, in before the end of the year.

Rio...Yes, I have thought about it. However, I dont know right now. Maybe, we shall see.

Margi...When we did IUI, we did back to back and they did not want us having sex before hand because of the counts, etc. I dont know that I would tonight. I'd go to town afterwards, though. The whole situation stinks and if this cycle doesnt work out...I'd break up with your doctor. Your E2 level is amazing...you must have more than 4 mature in there. I am feeling really good about this cycle for you now. Time to stop the pity party and find your PMA...I'd love an E2 level like that. Woohoo!!! You may however be looking at OHSS again though...so start drinking the gatorade, etc....you already know what to do. With only one tube that means that you will have alot of them not drop then, right? What a waste. What side are all the good ones on? With no sperm issues...I understand what he is thinking...he wants lots of sperm sitting and waiting for the eggs to drop. So after your IUI, you'll still have time for more bd'ing. Good sperm can last up to 5 days. You did it last night though...so I dont know if I would do it again tonight. Your call.

Sonya...At our age, according to my doctor....we need every egg there is...we would never ever have 6 take like Kate. lol Just wouldnt happen. I had 6 eggs every time in all 3 of my back to back IUI's at 39 yrs old and never got pregnant...but got pregnant on our first IVF a month later.

I know you're not gonna be a kate hehe Just sayin' your doc's logic may be lodged somewhere in that line of thought....

And yes... I do believe you have that correct. Really don't know why he's doing it so soon - usually 36 hours is ideal!! You should let DH have at least two and preferably three days between ejaculation for optimal sperm (that's what my clinic reccomends at least)

BFP. But, it is very low. 8.5. My 6 cell or one of the 4 cells took. So maybe this baby is just behind a bit from the beginning. I know this doesnt look good...but I'm going to go on bedrest now. Bill is going to take off work tomorrow and Wednesday to care for Zach. I just took my shot. I'm so mad at myself now.

I called in for my results to my lab...doc doesnt even know yet....they might not even get the fax till tomorrow.

Tammy...a bfp is a bfp...I'm praying so hard for your baby!!! Hopefully your old folles were producing enough progesterone tha being off a little on the shot will be ok!

Tammy - wow, you did get a positive! Remember Corny from our 2008 board? She had a 7 and was baking twins! I am praying hard for beta doubling, a late implanter? Awesome! Don't beat yourself up about the progesterone, it is really not even proven we need it and anything over 10 is great! WOOOOWHOOOOOO TAMMY!!!!!! You might not need DHEA after all!!!!!!!!!!!

Margi I would not BD before but I sure would after. You are right about washed sperm not survivng as regular sperm, so I really don't know why 24hrs and not 36 hours... I sent you an email so I am not going to repeat myself sound like a broken record!

Just talked to the nurse. She said the progesterone shot is probably fine. I talked her into letting me go back on Wednesday afternoon. She wanted me to wait till Thursday. So not happening.

Tammy...rereading my post I wanted to clarify...when I said "old follies" I didn't mean age, I just mean the old ones as in where your eggs came out of. Just so you didn't think I was being rude and congrats again!
