hi everyone! i hope you are all doing well and enjoying the holiday season! i am so glad we had thanksgiving and now xmas to look forward to so it kept me from obsessing about the pregnancy... are we there yet??

mev - your picture is beautiful, you & DH look adorable! that's a great shot your friend took! i am so impressed that you are doing both yoga and prenatal aerobics, good for you! my exercise in these past couple of months has been limited to taking the trash out :) we don't have prenatal yoga in my small town, and i am way too slow for my old ashtanga class... and yay for both babies head down! is your OB supportive of a vaginal delivery? our ob office seems to shy away from it for twins, even if both are head down. maybe i should ask them more questions about options...

rio - congrats on the twins! i have been lurking on the fall thread (following old cycle buddies from sep 2009), and was so happy to see you get your BFP. congrats!

pa-fa - 14 days with a cold, yikes! i hope you feel better soon!

franca - i have not felt any BH yet (or if i did i have not recognized it). so far i have felt no cramping pain at all. i do get numb & tingles in my upper abdomen but it's very localized, i think it may be a nerve that baby b pushes when he/she repositions. sorry i can't help you there...

kitty-mom - wow, you are moving right along that pregnancy! what is a non-stress test? does everyone get them?

purple - yay for the VBAC option! are you taking childbirth classes? i did not sign up for them, our hospital bradely or lamaze sessions are 12 classes, and our ob had said we'd have less than a 15% chance that we may have a vaginal delivery, so it seemed like overkill. but now i am starting to have second thoughts, i'd love to know what you'd recommend... as i mentioned to mev, i felt like our OB highly recommended c-section for twins so i never really investigated other options. i do get 2 more weeks of paid maternity leave if i have a c-section, but i know i'll need 2 more weeks to recover so it seems like a wash. in our last u/s both babies were head down too (that was at 25 weeks). when do they babies start "locking-in" on their birth position? Is 25 weeks too early to tell?

afm - well i survived my last work trip! i am so glad there is no more travel in my near future... walking around from terminal to terminal, dragging my carry-on and my laptop was a bit too much for me at this stage. but i was amazed how kind everyone was - guys in the plane helping me with my luggage, security inviting me to cut in line, chivalry is not completely dead (though i had started to believe it was after doing the commuter flights for so long...). i had fun catching up with my co-workers adn promised to send weekly belly shots (most recent one is attached!). the nxt couple of weeks are so full of xmas open houses, dinner, gift exchange, and even a debutante ball (it will be a first for me!) so it's helping me keep my mind off of the pregnancy (otherwise i'd probably obsess over it!)... i have another OB apt this afternoon and the glucose test nxt week. hope that i'll get another u/s out of them!

best wishes to everyone!
Julia

julia - My doctor said they usually start locking in positions around 30-32weeks. He told me that at this point (34ish weeks), my bottom baby is too far down into position, that with the other baby in there, there is no way she can flip. He said the other baby still could flip, but it would take a lot of doing.

It would be worth talking to your doctor about delivering them vaginally. My doctor said that there is no reason not to deliver them vaginally if they are both head-down. He did tell me there is a small chance that the first baby will deliver and the second baby will flip to breech. They could try and turn the second baby, but if he would stay breech, I would have to have a c-section on top of a vaginal delivery. The odds of that happening are fairly low though. I had a c-section and it was fine, I just feel like I missed out on so much having to stay in bed for so long. The first 24 hours in the hospital I couldn't get out of bed, and then it was hard to walk, and I couldn't pick up the babies, and I was so dosed with painkillers, I just felt like it was all a drug induced blur. Luckily I was at a hospital that supports breastfeeding, even with c-sections, so the nurses latched the babies onto me in the recovery room... not exactly how how I wanted to start nursing, but at least they got to nurse right away. The other thing that was so hard (at home) was climbing up and down the stairs after the babies were born. It took me about 3 weeks to be comfortable and sturdy enough on the stairs to carry the babies up and down.

Now I don't mean to scare you, there was nothing wrong with my c-section and without it my babies never would have come out, and for that I am grateful. If I have the chance though, I would love to not have to do it again, but in the end I will do whatever is best for my babies.

We didn't take a childbirth class last time since we knew it wouldn't be an option. We are at 34 weeks now and with Christmas coming up there really aren't any. So I have been reading up online and checking out some books about labor. The rest of the childbirth class, nursing diapering, etc... we already know by now=) I would say if your doctor is willing to let you try you might as well take a class, more information is always better.

If you have more questions you can feel free to ask, or private message me.

your picture is so cute!!!

purplefish - Thanks for asking :) I never had the test done  The office was supposed to send over the script to the lab and they never did. So, again I am scheduled for tomorrow Am. Hopefully I can get this over with. I had this test done with my RE, to make sure I wasn't diabetic before. He tested me for everything, which was good to make sure there wasn't something else going on. It will take about 4 hours long. Are you going to try for a VBAC ? I had wanted to try but can't :( I have cephlopelvic disproportion = small pelvis my DD was stuck and couldn't turn last time. So, unless I have a baby under 7 lbs, I would wind up with a repeat anyway. This being a second baby usually means they are bigger than your first and my DD was 7 lbs. After my c-section last time the first night I took percocet and that was it. I hate feeling dizzy and out of it so I took something else that was really mild. I know I had pain but just don't like narcotics. I should be getting to be a pro @ surgery as this will be my 6th abdominal surgery. So, I know how to bend and get OOB. I'm getting older and I swear it takes longer to recuperate than when I was younger.

AFM - Not much going on. Baby loves to give me kicks. I think this baby is going to be active. I'm looking forward to it, maybe I'll burn off all this extra weight I know I'm going to have. Did anybody else put on alot of IVF weight ? I had gained 40 lbs in one year from IVF. I know I wasn't as active but 40 lbs was alot. Then I lost 20 lbs of it but with the pregnancy it is sure to be back on me. I still had weight I never lost from my DD  Oh well, I'll have to be best friends with an elliptical machine soon enough

jenice - doh.. its too bad the doctor's office messed up. Hopefully your test went well, finally. Let us know how it went. Hopefully everything was normal. I am going to try for the VBAC. I am also prepared for a c-section, just in case. I figure if I am prepared either way then it should go smoothly. I didn't like the narcotics either once I got out of the hospitalI stopped taking them, I guess in hindsight I could have asked not to have them in the hospital, but they kept telling me I needed them. 6 abdominal surgeries... yikes! You are one trooper! I would do the same thing if I were you, a small pelvis is a good reason for a c-section. Hopefully running around with two kids will help take the weight off of you. IVF and fertility treatments can cause weight gain and stress (which can lead to eating not as healthy), but don't stress about it now. You can take all the weight off after the baby is born.

bei! - I haven't heard from you in a while! How is everything going? I had one breech last time (the presenting baby) and one head down on top of the breech one. I was disappointed that I couldn't do a vaginal birth too, but in the end it doesn't really matter. What matters the most is healthy babies. Both my babies are around 5- 5.5lbs right now (34 weeks). What week are you in? you can search online for average fetal weight and find charts of how much they should weigh each week. From 32 weeks on they put on a half pound every week

julia - its funny I never asked my fundal height measurement. I know they do it every time I go in, but they just tell me it looks good. The human body is amazing I know for a fact it can stretch and stretch :D You will have to let us know how the ultrasound goes next week! What a wonderful Christmas gift!

bei - 31 weeks is great! I hope you are excited. My bags have been packed for a while just in case. After 35 weeks, my doctor won't try to stop labor, so I also have everything set up at home. I really want to make it through Christmas without having the babies, there is no indication so far that I would have them early, but I always worry about it. How have you been feeling?

Just stalking my buddies!

Julia - thanks! Love your belly pics and so glad you don't have to travel anymore! Also happy people were nice!

Purple - wow for a VBAC! Good for you! I had a c-sec too and recovery was awful but anything for those beans! How are your kids reacting to having not another sibbling but 2? My hospital will not allow VBAC.

PA-FA - sorry you are sick , hope you get better soon! are you still flying? Love the "bachelor" joke at the plane story!

jenice - did you get GD? I had it with my son.

kitty - so glad everything is well and progressing with the twins!

I am on the Summer babies board. I am so excited to see you girls here getting so close to meeting your babes! I can't wait for pics! I have another US today and praying the twins are healthy and kicking!!!!!!

riogirl71- I did my 3 hour glucose test, waiting on the results. I hope I don't, I already have high blood pressure and anemia. How was your pregnancy when you had it ? Did you deliver earlier, any complications?

Rio- I am finally feeling better and was able to get my flu shot yesterday. Now I just have a sore arm. OUCH! I stopped flying in the beginning of October at 21w. It was just getting too painful at the end of the trips. My OB took me out so now I'm bored and I miss it but I know it was best for the baby. I only went out 6w early. We have to stop at 27w at my airline.
I can't wait to hear more about the twins. :)

Franca - so sorry about the cold. I just got over mine, and it was so tough. Just take care of yourself, plenty of rest and fluids.

jenice - did you have high blood pressure before the pregnancy or not? I had anemia, which was no big problem. I had high blood pressure at the end of my pregnancy and delivered early because of it. I didn't have high blood pressure prior to pregnancy, it cropped up about 36 weeks. My blood pressure went down after delivery with no problems.

rio - I am so thrilled for you. I will have to stop by the summer board and keep an eye on your progress. I think the kids are ready for the new babies. Sorry that your hospital won't allow a VBAC, a lot of it depends on the size of the hospital and the area of the country you live in. Some hospitals are not equipped to handle an emergency c-section if the scar would rupture.

afm - so I had an interesting day. I woke up feeling sick, then a few hours later I started feeling super-crampy. So I just rested in bed most of the day. In the afternoon I really started feeling bad so I talked to the OB and they had me come into the hospital. They ran some tested and hooked me up to the fetal monitors, with the contraction monitor. They could see the cramping on the readout, they called it uterus irritation. He also did a cervix check, no fun if you haven't had one yet. I am a fingertip dilated, and 60% effaced both normal for as far along as I am. He said the cramping can come from being a bit dehydrated. The good news is that the babies and I are all fine. He sent me home with instructions to double my fluid intake and to rest. I kinda felt silly for going in, but the nurse and the doctor were so supportive and said better safe than sorry.

I am mouring the loss of our twin  , we went for our US and ends up our twin was in the 1 in 5 that don't make it. I also cannot believe he/she was in the 8% that don't make it after a healthy heartbeat and great measurements. The OB really tried looking but there was no longer a heartbeat. It is hard to explain how much you already love someone so tiny that you only knew existed for one week and now I will never meet him/her or hold him/her we saw the heartbeat and it was immediate love. My heart hurts but I am now trying to concentrate on the blessing we still have inside. I haven't had the heart to change my ticker yet. I am praying so hard that our one bean makes it healthy and perfect!

Purple - our hospital is pretty big and advanced but has that limitation. I would like to try a BBAC because of the recovery but I am stuck with another c-sec, did you see the lady on CNN that had a VBAC after 3 c-secs? Glad the kids are ready!!! I am glad you got checked out, we forget that in the winter with the heaters, our homes are dryer than the desert!

PA_FA - sorry you are bored but sure you don't miss the swollen ankles ;) Is DH taking time off from flying when the little girl comes?

jenice - if you do end up with GD don't worry, PM me any questions. I had to take insulin and go on a strict diet. The nice thing is I only gained 22lbs with our son and was never healthier! THe bad is that I had to take insulin and am at risk again. But really, I hope you don't have it but if you do it is ok. Our son was born at 8lbs3oz and is perfect!
