My husband and i are thrilled that we just found out we are expecting. My signature shows my betas which Im sure most likely mean not twins. I was curious if it meant anything that the beta nearly tripled in 48 hours. I know 80 isnt super high to begin with though. I was told my progesterone is super high in the 300s. I am doing two prometrium suppositories a day and am supposed to keep doing that. Am i correct that there is no such thing as too much progesterone and that this means less chance of miscarriage? Is there any chance it could mean twins or is hcg the only indicator? I know without an ultrasound its impossible to tell. I was just curious. Our ultrasound is on dec 28 . Thanks.

I just delivered 9 days ago and during my entire pregnancy I had really high progesterone levels (high 200’s … like 280). My RE said it is a good indicator that I have a strong pregnancy not that I was carrying multiples. I just delivered a singleton but during my previous pregnancy, I was pregnant with twins and I had a high progesterone too but as you can read by my signature how that ended. I want to wish you good luck and a wonderful pregnancy!

Most of your progesterone is coming from your follicles. None of it is coming from the pregnancy yet. After a trigger, the follicles produce progesterone in response to stimulation by either hCG or LH. A high level of progesterone only tells us that you have many active follicles that are getting stimulated with hCG. By the way, your OHSS (in your signature) tells us the same thing.
I don't know of "too much" progesterone. It does have side effects, though.

I just found out I am pregnant naturally. My progesterone level was 20 on Monday and then 15 on Wednesday. My RE is watching my levels and said it is OK for a non IVF pregnancy. Ghost have you heard this and does this value sound OK?

I agree with your RE.

i just got my first beta today, 277. My progesterone is 1088!!!!!!
Are you in the USA?
I ask that because outside the USA, they often use different units (nmol/l instead of ng/ml) so their numbers are more than 3x as high as those in the USA for the same actual concentration.
If that is in the units we use, ng/ml, then that's the most I have ever heard of. Even in the European units, that's still a lot of progesterone.

with my first pregnancy, my hCG was 747 and progesterone was 136 at 16dpo.
With my m/c my first beta was 54 and progesterone was 34....which they said was low and they were worried.
SOOOO....with this pregnancy, my progesterone levels are 1088....which is high isnt it?
Hello in Australia.
That's such a high number that I think it must be measured in nmol/l. 1088 nmol/l is about 350 ng/ml in the units we usually use in the USA. Yes, that is a high level. You probably had many follicles to get the level up that high. The highest I recall seeing was in the 450-500 ng/ml range.
34 nmol/l is about 11 ng/ml, which is on the low side for my clinic.

Ghost, my progesterone levels have gone down to 871 (Australian measurement). The nurses are not concerned, as I was on pregnyl during my 2ww and they said my ovaries are simply just producing a little less progesterone after we had stopped pregnyl.
Does progesterone levels suggest twins or anything? Like i said, with my DD's pregnancy my 16dpo progesterone was 136.thanks

Progesterone levels at this point have nothing to do with the number of embryos that implant.
With progesterone, all you need is enough. More than that is not very relevant. Enough is about 30-60 nmol/l or, to us Americans, 10-20 ng/ml.
