Margi & Heather - hopefully it's just too early for the both of you.... beta is soon - just try to relax until then.
Katie - high is good - but does not necessarily mean twins. Just be happy that you are pregnant! Let us know how your second beta is!
Kynlee - glad you are feeling better. Being sick as a grown up sucks. When I was little, being sick meant missing school and staying home all day with mommy. Now, being sick means missing work and taking care of myself. UGH. Congrats on AF, only one more month until you start again!
Sunshine 1576 - sorry! Thought you were already on the list - we have 2 other "Sunshines"!
everyone else - where are you? Busy with Christmas?
AFM -exciting day today. We met with a different RE at the same clinic - he is the head of the department. He says that looking at our results from our fresh cycles (how I respond, how many embryos we get, the quality of the embryos) our results are great. The only thing not great is our pregnancy/live birth rate. He suggests doing another fresh cycle. But just be to sure and do the extra mile, we are changing a few things.
DH will start taking "Vitamel" (an anti-oxidant vitamen) to maybe help his sperm quality. The dr said that considering that we are dealing with near-azoospermia and ICSI, our fertilization rates are great - but maybe (maybe) we can make that better.
Also - I'm going to do a HSG. I've never done one, since no one cared about my tubes, since we have to do IVF because of DH. I had a hsyteroscopy instead (check out my uterus (which is fine), but less pain and less expensive than HSG). The RE said that if I have naturally sealed off or blocked both tubes (which is highly unlikely, but possible), it can lower the implantation rate of the embryos. He said that in a healthy young woman with no previous tubal problems, the odds are really slim that this is a problem, but because I've had 3 failed cycles, it might be worth checking out. He said it's my call when/if to do the HSG. If both tubes are sealed/blocked, we can remove them (I don't need them anyways!). Probably not an issue, but at this point, I want to make sure everything is giving us our best chances.
Another thing we are trying is ---- crap! I forget what it's called!. Bascially, a few days before your period when you will start the IVF, you go and they do a very minor D&C-like procedure, where they insert a currette and scrape the uterine lining. Sometimes it helps implantation rates. Not necessarily a problem in my case, but might help, so why not!
I'm really nervous about failing this fresh IVF and doing another FET. NONE of my FETs have worked, and my regular RE says it's just odds and there is nothing to do. The RE we saw today (special head of the department), said that if we get to FET again, we can try to experiment with different things, to hopefully get a different result.
So my HSG is scheduled for Jan 18 - then the period after that we start our new fresh cycle. I'm remaining on the BCP to regulate my cycle. At least we have a plan!
