question for the twin mums... and everyone else

Post by Juliana »

well, girls I am suddenly so much bigger this week (20w5 days) I started getting breathless and can move much less. It seems kind of early to get breathless, I still have so much to do. What is your experience? I have put on 6 kilos in total which is I guess about 13 lb, seems like a lot. on the other hands people keep telling me with two you just get bigger. What do you think is normal?
Tracey, good luck with the scan tomorrow!

Juliana

I had a spurt then and could not move well and then managed to move again - then last night felt like was trying to turn in bed with two concrete blocks. You have these spurts then adjust then another........... and so it goes!
As for breathless I was the same - the shock of it all moving up and my diaphragm suddenly endin up under my boobs - which were somewhere near my knees!

As for weight we are all different - just carry on I think - I have been luck according to my midwife as I have troughed on choccie everyday and I mean loads of it - honestly - have so far put on in weight around 2 stone - 28lb and I am nearly 29 wks - it all came in the last few weeks really - ouch but have not put weight on bum etc and no stretch marks yet!

Hi Juliana

As Tracey says everyone is different with the weight thing i have put on about one and half stone but it feels much more but i am pg with one.

Tracey i feel sorry for you as i am bad enough at night moving and i am pg with one so it must be really bad for you. I have an ache sometimes in the morning with all the rolling over. I cannot get comfy at all now. Now i understand why they say its your body preparing you for the baby arriving i am up nearly every hour or less, peeing or just turning over.

Have any of you had a stitch yet i get them alot and it is bloody sore and uncomfy and then i get out of breath. Shopping yesterday was a bloody nightmare but i managed to get most of things for baby which made up for it.

Stitch - loads of them - have stopped the huge shopping marathons - well last week -
As for night - well can only sleep on one side for a maximum of 30 mins and they my hips ache and omg who has that problem with their feet when they get up in the night to go to the loo - the bottoms of my feet feel as if they have been beaten with sticks all day long!

All in a good cause

wow I am normal!!!!!

Stretchmarks Tracey - how did you get away from them??????? Mine started at about 28 weeks and are gradually getting worse.

Juliana, I also go through stages some days I am fine and others trying to get out of bed is a nightmare, however, I have had breathlessness for a while now. Even after trying to turn over in bed I breath like an old woman for about 2 minutes.

Remember you are carrying 2 new people and they are taking all your goodness, rest when you need to.
take care

Tracey, I had no stretch marks at 28 weeks either and was very pleased with myself! But they arrived at about 32 weeks ... and are still there!

Girls, its so nice to feel that I'm normal also!!!!!!!!!

Tracey - I thought perhaps I was the only one who felt like my feet were beaten with sticks. I haven't heard anyone else mention that!! Glad to know i'm not the only one- (now I don't feel like I'm just a complaining pregnant women!) :o I also have extrememly sore hips at night, so glad to know I'm so normal..

Lisa - yeah I'm trying to figure out how Tracey avoided the stretch marks also??? I thought I was home free as I did not get any until close to 30 -1/2 wks. and then went through another growth spurt!! ( and then they began to appear! :( :( :( .. SOOO Tracey you may not be free of them yet!!! No just kidding I hope you are lucky enough to avoid them.. :P

As for the breathlessness, I have had that for a while as well. And, Tracey its funny to hear you describe rolling over in bed as having two concrete blocks in there-- that is a perfect description!!! I have begun thinking daily that I do not know how much longer I can carry these guys around. But at 32 1/2wks. now, my doctor says I'm doing great and thinks I'm going to hang in there for a while!! I know its all going to be soo worth it in the long run!! I cannot wait... :D

Goodluck to everyone! And its very nice to now have some normalcy!

Lisa - keep us updated with your progress, we are all getting very close.

take care,

Annette and Jules

Thanks for that re the stretch marks - not!!!!!!!!!!! Actually Sarah had emailed me a few weeks ago (you know Sarah with twins) and was being smug as I was going on about no marks etc - she said she was fine until about 32+ weeks and then they just kept coming
Oh well whatever will be will be - feel a song coming on
They said at the hospital today that as I have quite an olive type skin I just might be lucky as seems to be very elastic. Will keep you posted!
Love to all and their aches and pains

Hi everyone,
It is really a relief to hear of all your symptoms, makes me feel more normal too, although you are all mcuh further ahead. I hope I do get to 32 weeks and further! From your mails I am starting to realise my recent changes must be a growth spurt which I guess was due at 21 weeks! I definitely do hope that I will get more energy again as it seems really too early for breathlessness and all. However, getting a very hard belly is by far my worst problem it is so uncomfortable I cannot sleep when I get it! It is a very strange sensation too. When I phoned the hospital they said it is probably the uterus expanding. So I guess I hope it will go away at least for a while and let the weeks pass!
Tracey do I understand correctly that you recommend chocolate against stretchmarks? What a good idea!
love to all,

I recommend chocolate for everything!!!!!!!!! My husband works for part of Mars so that helps - they make loads in Veckel is it (probably spelt it wrong!)
Not sure if you got the report over in Holland but over here they have been researching pg women and choccie and those who eat choccie each day or regularly have healthier and happier babies - what more do you need

Annette, Jules and Lisa - you will be pleased to know I am having a spurt again I think and noticed a couple of dry patches on my tummy (might be the gel yesterday - they don't have lather it on!) so am thinking NOOOOOOOOOO don't let that lot be right and dry turns to stretchmarks so lathering on the boots mediterranean cream in the tub - smells good enough to eat and treated myself to a bounty and a ripple
Will let you all know
Happy weekend - hope the weather is nice - what's it like over there Juliana?

Hi Tracey,
We did not get the report on chocolate and I had completely given it up because of the caffeine, so now I will allow myself some! You always come up with good news! As for the weather we had a lovely saturday and yesterday was also good but Sunday was totally wet, I guess it was mixed in the UK too. I watch the BBC a lot and it often looks as if we get the same weather in the Netherlands a day later. I started packing my stuff (still have to move in with dp!) and we walked a bit. Did you go out, do you walk a lot or is the last growth spurt a limiting factor?

Hi

Stretchmarks! I started getting them just after 3 months and are now a nice purple colour Lovely! Every morning there is more.
I am starting to get a real craving for chocolate and it is good to know that we can eat it. I have a thing for mars bars and chocolate rice krisipie cake bars mmm.
Tracey it doesn,t matter how much you lather on the moisturiser/creams if its in the genes you will get the stretch marks.

Must go my bugaboo frog has just been delivered. Can't wait to open it up and to phone dh.

The weather here was fab - no get eating that choccie - I know what you mean about the caffeine but they reckon it is better to have a happy mummy! When are you moving in? As for me still walking - did two long walks on sunday and thought would need new feet - they don;t have hurt when on them for too long

Helen - bugaboo? How jealous am I - wanted one but DH put his foot down - I saw Nikola's - she has two (as you do) and a mountain buggy but then her business was doing well and mine................ well enough of that - how exciting - what colour? YEp know about stretch marks - it is the genes - I am lucky so far - put the cream in to help along and to not itch really!

It was Nikola i got the idea from. I fell in love with it and so did dh. We looked at others and to be honest by the time you buy some other kind there is not alot of difference. But i only have to buy one. my dh is really busy at the moment which has helped and that is how i got all of my shopping done last week (trying not to put to much on the old credit card). I saw a twin silvercross in town the other day it was georgeous.
My bugaboo is red and i have just managed to assemble it (not very good at things like that). I will have to dismantle it later once i have shown it off to family as i still have 10 weeks to go and i am struggling for space. My spare room looks like mothercare.

The itching is terrible my bump can be red raw with the scratching.
Anyway my sister is coming to pick me up for my midwife appt. i am car less this week and it is doing my head in and its only Tuesday.

Hi Helen and Tracey,
Can you please direct me to a picture of a buggaboo somewhere on the internet? I have no idea what they are! Must start figuring these things out, I am so bad at shopping must need a cursus from you girls. Just don't enjoy the hassle really...
I am due to move out of my current house by the end of the month, we are now busy making space at dp's house which is not very big but we left house hunting till the last and now I am nervous and want to have moved before July so that I can be a bit more relaxed as the pregnancy progresses. On top of everything I am having quite a busy time at work, another 2 weeks at least, once I get through them it should be easy. But hey, so far lucky with the stretchmarks, although it's early days yet, only 5 months, who knows when they might appear...
love,
juliana
