Hi there! I haven't been on for awhile but I just wanted to share my news with you ladies. At 17dp3dt (12/27) I had my first Beta which came out to be 392. My progesterone at that time was 270. 2 days later (12/29) I had another Beta which came out to 472, progesterone 234. The nurse at my office told me that they would like to see it higher than that and to be "cautiously optimistic". I had a third beta drawn 3 days from the first (on 12/30) and it was 576. What do you girls think? I would love any insight.

kariberry-dont get you spirits down by what the nurse says untill after the ultrasound, am not an expert but i have heard that sometimes you start out with two then one stops growing which can make the numbers look like they are not doubling but they keep increasing. so hold on till your next appt with re. all the best.

Hi Kariberri, I used this site
http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/too ... ulator.php

from 392 to 472 said the doubling time was 179 hours. If you count your third beta it was 129 hours. Nwquiz is right, you could have an early twin that does not make it and it messes up your betas. You will not be able to see anything on US until your beta is about 2,000. There are plenty of miracles out there, stay positive and I wish you the best! Just make sure they keep track of thinhs because slow growing betas can mean an ectopic sometimes. If you experience a lot of pain, go to the ER. I hope it all turns out well for you!

CJinNC - what a flipping jerk your old RE, unreal, glad you dumped him!

Lou - I hear ya about being over parties!

Katie - again I am so sorry.

Leora - Thanks again for the info, I have been surprinsingly emotional over losing one twin so early and after just seeing him/her once. I cannot imagine what you went through and I am proud of you for being so strong. You deserve a vacation! Fresh start for a new year and your last vacation as a couple!

Hello everyone,

I'd like to join the winter cycle. I'd love to share and get some advice. This is my first IVF and was reading some of your posts. My first stupid question is...I have no idea what half of the acronymns mean (other than BFN and BFP, LOL). Is there a good source to reference so I can keep up and share my story?

Thanks,
Kimber

HAPPY NEW YEAR! DH and I actually did make it out last night to the party. It was really fun. There were probably close to 75 guests. These people have a great 3 story house with a lower level complete with dance floor that has flashing lights, disco globe, and flat screens that show video's along with the music. They also had a nice stocked bar and bartender. Upstairs was food catered from an Italian restaurant, a huge sweet display, lots of finger foods, and many people really getting into karaoke in the living room. The karaoke was a game of sorts where you got points for the right words and staying on key. I've never played it before but I like games and it was fun! I got roped into singing Natasha Bettingfield's Unwritten...lol. And DH did Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! Too fun!!! We were all corralled downstairs for the countdown and shared a champagne toast at midnight, made a lot of noise, hugged and kissed everyone, and did a group rendition of Auld Lang Syne. We left around 1:30AM. Much better than going to a bar party like we did last year with three other couples. What did you all do?

Carol -- Thanks for sharing your story. I hope your first IUI is the magic one for you. I'm so sorry for your m/c. I know how devastating that is. Your RE treated you horribly too! If you have good hormones and ovulate, then a natural miracle is also a possibility. My OB recently delivered natural pregnancies in a 46 and 44 year old and said she had a 49 y/o this year as well. My OB did IVF at 42 and 44 and got pregnant both times. She didn't use donor eggs. So I'm following ALL of her advice...lol.

Karriberri-- I'm so sorry you are in "beta hell" right now. Your numbers were rising, so I'm praying for a positive outcome for you. Keep us posted. Perhaps ask Ghost to weigh in on your numbers.

Tammy -- 2011 will be a MUCH better year for us! What did you decide to do about your labs/supplements?

Sweetpea -- I sure hope you're right about the year of the Rabbit being lucky!

Kimber baby -- Welcome! For the abbreviation list, go to the Board Index, General, and there should be a thread second from the top on abbreviations. You'll catch up quickly but ask as many "stupid" questions as you like...lol.

I have a little dilema I called my doctors office this morning as instructed on cycle day one at 9:30AM. Message said holidays and weekends 7:30-1:00. My doctor himself new I was starting this weekend and didn't say they were closed or anything. Well no one called me back today to tell me to come in tomorrow. So I'm debating if I should just go there anyways tomorrow for blood and ultrasound as on my paperwork it says I need to do that. They do blood and ultrasounds 7 days a week from 6:45 - 7:45. I'm not sure what to do? Has anyone had to start there FSH on cycle day 3 before? I'm not sure if it will mess it up as I'm on the Lupron already and as it is my period was a day later than planned.

Thanks,
Kat

CJinNC,
I will also be doing an IUI, trying to coordinate the schedule with work right now. Looking like it might be around Jan, 18th. But DH was so surprised when he got his S/A back yesterday, showing his vitamin regimen made an impact and everything looks normal now. I have more details posted on "Makin' Something out of Nothing" if you would read on. :-)
I'm glad you have a better RE now who treats you with more respect. You deserve that!

Lou - thanks for suggesting the general discussions for the acronymn meanings.

So, here's my story. I'm 35, single and have had GYN issues for years. A few years back, I had to have an ovary removed due to a large endometrioma cyst. So, I'm working with half of my equipment as a starting point.

I've hit the stage in my life where I feel I'm ready for a family. Of course, Mr. Right still has not found me...but a few years back, I decided that if I hit 35 and there were no prospects, I was going to attempt to go it alone. So, I consulted a fertility doc and after many tests, he said my chances were about 20% to conceive and I'd have to go IVF. Apparently, the surgery to remove the cysts created an issue with my one remaining tube and the skin fused together. So, IVF is the only solution. To make matters worse, I have low egg levels as well and doc doesn't think I'll respond that well to the stimulants.

Although my chances are low, I figure they are not zero, right? I'd hate myself if I didn't at least try to go through IVF. So, that's what brings me here. I'm on my first cycle now. I start Lupron on Monday. It's been a tough process so far, especially doing this on my own and making all the decisions myself. I've shared my endeavor with my parents but I'm a very private person and haven't shared with anyone else.

The process of choosing the right sperm donor was lengthy and pricey, but I feel pretty confident about the guy I chose. I just hope he has super sperm :D

So now my biggest frustration is when I get to the intermuscular injections. I'm stressing out about this. The nurses seem to think I won't be able to do these myself. I don't really have anyone who can do it for me, without revealing to someone that I'm trying to get pregnant. Does anyone have any experience doing their own shots? Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice or if it's even possible?

Happy New Year and thanks!

Kimber - welcome. good for you!!! there are videos on youtube for self-administrating shots, like this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lRmo0D9m7w. i just searched for "self administrating progesterone shots" and came up with this one.
