Mellow,
Yeah for your great u/s! If its one placenta they're definitely identical. Its better if they have the membrane seperating them.
My SCH is still pretty big, had an U/S this a.m. due to some contractions. Bed rest for me for awhile again, ugh!
Hope you have a great week!

Mello I am so happy your babies are safe and sound - those are great heartbeats! I can't believe how amazing things turned out for you - it's awesome to get such great news when things looked so scary.

zoegirl wrote:If anyone has stories of later yolk sac appearances I'd love to hear them . . . Thanks.
sorry had to thread crash !!! Zoegirl I had a BFP at 10dp5dt and a beat of 566 at 14dp5dt, In UK we don't get a scan until 7w - at my 7 week scan we saw one heartbeat and another sac but no heartbeat - so we were just thrilled with one after 3 other failed attempts - can you imagine pour shock when at our 12 week anomoly scan the radiographer said - you had an early scan didn't you - what did they see - my heart dropped as we told her one heartbeat - she said well they are wrong its twins .. OMG DH nearly fell off his chair!!

I had a problem free pregnancy with no morning sickness - chronic indegestion though and was induced at 38 weeks - I also had a small bleed around 6-7 weeks. My boys were born eventually by c section after being induced and getting fully dilated Benjamin who was head down decided it was too much effort and tiled his head back so there was no way he was coming out naturally - both good weights too - 6lb 13oz and 7lb 9oz - so all you other twin mammas on here - good luck - its not easy to start with but so rewarding - my boys will be 1 in 6 weeks and now are such little characters who play together for hours (well with a little bit of fighting inbetween!)

Good luck everyone xxxx

Thanks Wishful27 and other gals who shared late yolk sac and heartbeat stories. I feel so much better knowing that it is possibly just too early to see the second yolk sac.

However, if there turns out to be only one, though I will be sad, the silver lining will be that my DH will be much happier. He told me last night he does not want to talk about the pregnancy at all unless I require his input for a decision or there is something he absolutely has to know. No updates, no talk about which OB to use . . . II asked for how long? 3 or 4 months? He said probably not that long. I know he is not angry at ME but he is in such a dark place that his behavior is almost identical to what it would be if he WAS angry at me. The marriage counselor says he is going thru a grieving process and it will take time, but he will do the right thing. Makes me feel like a pregnant teenager whose boyfriend is marrying her because "it is the right thing to do" even tho he does not want to. However I know that if I try to deny him his feelings he will never come around.

My MIL sees the whole thing as a big problem to be organized . . . she "sees the dogs as a problem" and plans to move our baby grand piano (which DH is refurbishing) into the garage - without consulting either of us so we can make the living room into "baby central." I had to very nicely set her straight that the dogs are going nowhere and the piano only gets moved if DH says it gets moved.

FIL is pleased . .. and said to DH "What's wrong? We had 3 kids and it turned out great?" which irritates DH no end. DH is also one of three kids (who can't stand each other) but says his Dad did not attend any recitals, soccer games, etc because he was always under one of his antique cars (or working 2 jobs to support them, as I pointed out to DH).

Thank goodness I have friends and a sister who is happy for me. I know we are not supposed to mention twins to others until it is impossible to ignore, but I need people to talk to! I've told one of my sisters and two friends at work, only because they knew I was going thru IVF and it was pretty impossible to NOT tell them the results. A couple of others know I am pregnant but not about the possibility of two. If we get another yolk sac and 2 heartbeats I'll probably tell my dad and my other sister and maybe my aunt who has spent hours and hours praying for me to get pregnant. My aunt and my dad have a little competition going to see who can have more grand kids. If we have twins then my dad will catch up to her (six).

Thanks for reading my rant!

Easley - I just wanted to say sorry to hear about your SCH, they can be insanely scary if and when a bleed occurs. Try to remember that IF you have a bleed, unless you're in extreme pain, it's most likely just the SCH. I did have some cramping with both of my bleeds, but drinking LOTS of water helps calm the uterus, making it far less scary of a situation. Also, Babycenter.com has a SCH Support Group that's very informative. Best of luck!

Bunny - No amnio for us. Even if we had missed the nuchal, we wouldn't have done it anyway. Like others have said, results from tests like that aren't going to change our minds about our babies. Good luck deciding, I'm sure whatever you decide, everything will be fine.

Mellow - How exciting to see your little beans dancing! If it is one placenta, for sure they're identical. It's hard to determine with two placentas and two sacs though. Glad to hear you're still taking it easy, it'll all be worth it in the end. :D

Gina - Sorry so about the SCH flare up, those things are so unpredictable. Did they mention to drink the heck out of water? From what I'm to understand, the blood spot can irritate the uterus causing cramping/contractions. Staying very well hydrated can help calm it. Hoping the bed rest helps bunches!

Laylastam - Welcome! Congratulations on your BFP!!! Looking forward to hearing your u/s results next week. :D

Zoe - That's what we're here for! Rant away, hon! It's frustrating when you feel alone (especially when DH is going through a tough time) and you don't need any stress. Letting it all out is the best way of dealing with it, in my opinion. Chances are, at least one of us can relate! Parents can be major PITAS (pain in the asses) when they try to take over or are insensitive to the emotions the entire ART process can cause. Hang in there! Sometimes it takes time and a little bluntness to get things to where you want them, but in the end, this is YOUR pregnancy and it should be about YOU.

afm - First appt with OB yesterday... sigh. Not sure about how I feel about her. She was chose based on her availability on my due date. My first impression was hindered by the fact she was the on call, so she was SUPER late and seemed really rushed. Which I can understand, I mean my prenatal appt isn't near as important as some lady upstairs about to have a baby. I just felt like I couldn't get out what I was saying sometimes without her talking over me. I guess I'll be sure to schedule my next appt with her when she's not on call and see if it's any different. The other thing I wasn't necessarily impressed with was her "we'll treat it like a regular pregnancy until we have reason not to" theory. It's not a "regular" pregnancy. And what happens if it's too late by the time something gets looked into??? Not super thrilled about her, but I'm willing to give her another shot given the circumstances...

Mellow - congrats on your twinsies!

Zoe - I am really sorry that you are going through so much with DH. We were shocked when the OB said twins and DH was in a daze, unfortunately one week later the twin did not have a HB and guess what? DH was actually devastated. SO men react differently and please don't take it personally, just let him have his space and he will come around. You have enough to deal with. Sorry about your MIL and the dogs, we have 2 large dogs and my mom thinks they are the end of us too. Good for you for standing up to her!

Baby- sorry you didn't have a great experience with your OB, maybe you can try a new one? It is so great to have a responsive OB, I love mine!

Happy Bunny - with our son I got an increased risk of Downs cause it was a false positive on the first blood test with the NT test, the NT was fine. We went for level 2 US and the second blood test panel and everything showed fine. I am 39 now and I will be doing all the testing again. If something does turn out terrible, I will consider an amnio but I do not take it lightly. I think the false positives are more common with the early bloodwork than the last ones. I am of the opinion that if something is wrong, I want to know. I had a friend who was pregnant with a baby and the baby had a trissomy problem, she found out and it was one of those where the baby will either be born dead or die in 6 months after agonizing. She did the tests and decided to terminate the pregnancy. Of course this is an extreme case, but I want to know if our baby is ok or not. This is of course a very personal decision.

laylastam - Congratulations on your BFP!!!!

Anacris - good luck at your US, everything will be fine!

AFM Gestational Diabetes in full force and super early, I don't understand since I have no signs of diabetes when not pregnant. I have to go get an appt to get insulin now, my needle free month is over! Now for 7 months of rollercoaster diabetes! I am still struggling with the loss of our twin. I have experienced elation for a healthy pregnancy and was devastated when we lost a baby due to ectopic, but to experience those two things at once has been very emotional. I am very blessed and happy for our healthy bean but I miss the twin and know he is still in there but will never meet him/her. Thanks for letting me vent!

Hey Rio-
Thought I'd lurk here tonight, then I saw your post re: GD. I was told by my GD nutritionist last time that often in consecutive pregnancies (after the first GD one), that the GD shows up early. So it's expected. Good luck with it! Sure it'll be fine :) . Easy does it...

Hugs,

Thanks Shari, you know how it is when you get control of it, next week you are more insulin resistant and you go through all ups and downs again!

Zoe - go to lilypie.com or google pregnancy ticker, make sure you copy the code that has [img] on both ends, if there is extra, just delete it. Than paste in your signature line.

Hi ladies!! I just wanted to pop in and say hi to Rio and some of the other familar moms. Lots of twin pregnancys love it!! I too bled around 6 or 7 weeks and it ended up okay. I freaked out and thought it was over. Luckily all is well and now im over 26 weeks with 2 boys. Rio I hope the crapy GD doesn't give you too much trouble. That stinks that you have to go through it again. How is DS? I know how excited you were with 2 but I'm quite nervous about the whole thing still. I know it will be fine but I feel like I will be pulling my hair out. Take it easy and take all the time you need to vent rant and feel whatever you need to. Well ladies I wish you all the best and will keep up with you. The April thread is pretty slow so I will pop back and forth.

Welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies joining our thread!

I had my TAC surgery Monday morning and was released from the hospital last night. Surgery went great and baby did well - got to see the little one on u/s before they made the abdominal incision, again before they stapled me up, and one last time yesterday afternoon once I was allowed out of bed. I'm in a lot of pain today, wow! Each day should get better and I'll go see the Dr on Monday to remove the staples (22 of them...I'm so dreading that appointment.) But for now I'm just moving in super slow motion and relieved that the surgery is over and the baby did just fine during it.

Amanda....Congrats on making it through that! I was thinking about you and couldn't wait to hear an update!

I have a question for my sick ladies....I FEEL sick alllllll day long. Actual vomiting is few and far between, but I feel so darn bad and I gag/dry heave a LOT. Even just talking to people or teaching I start to gag and make obnoxious noises. Although I am not actualy vomiting, I am not really able to eat much because of the gagging. I'll chew something, then gag so badly I have to just spit it out. I am on a self-prescribed PediaSure diet right now since those are pretty high in calories and nutrients. I'm also doing a lot of water and Ginger Ale, but it seems like liquid is the only way for me to go. Do you think this merits a talk with my doc? Or is she just going to tell me "welcome to morning sickness, now smile and bear it"? I really don't want to sound like I'm comlpaining because I am so happy to be here, but is this normal? Thanks for any input on this.....blah
