Rio -

To answer your question, actually I didn't decide to go with an open ID donor. He just so happened to fit the bill in terms of background, medical history, etc. Open ID wasn't a priority for me, just an added bonus. In fact, my second choice is anonymous.

I figure if my child has indentity issues in the future, the donor sibling registry might help out so he/she can connect with others in a similar situation. Here's hoping I have to worry about that kind of thing in the future, right?!? :D

Longtimeivfer - I am really sorry you are down, what was your response to IVF like? Would you be willing to try DHEA? I hope 2011 brings you a wonderful miracle!

Kimber - When we first found out we had male fertility issues, I looked at a couple of sperm banks. It was weird and kinda fun shopping for a guy! Did you pick color of eyes and hair and background too? I am glad you got a pic of your all maerican guy before you got his sperm, yickes! I thought all American was certainly different! What did you pick on your donor this time? Do you get a childhood pic?

rio-hahaahaa about the questions on open donors. i actually looked into sperm banks as well at the beginning before dh was put on clomid. what i found out about open donors al they really do is give you all the information they have on file after the child is born for your records. then the donor can be contacted to meet the child if you so wish. that is crazy so they charge you more for that. i know xytex its like 100dollars more for an open donor. crazy right. oh well Kim i wish you all the best. i would be also very picky when selecting a donor.
margi-glad you are back, well take time ot rethink your next step. as for me am not sure what holds for me. after all my negatives i did not test this morning. but i feel somehome pregnant. may be its just to much pma. so anyway i also noticed my estrogen level is up today coz of ewcm which is odd right? on my way home i had to stop at rite aid and decided to buy one of there pee stick. bad bad addict. you see what you girls make us do? lool not blaming anyone but me.
guess what i saw an evaporation line. so am more confused than ever. please do not but the rite aid brand sticks. i will stick with my dollar sticks they are clear. coz i cant tell whether its a true line or just an evaporation thin line. i will try again in the morning for sure before by beta. wish me luck i need it.

nwquiz- fingers crossed it's a positive. When is your beta?

longtimerivf- I'm sorry you don't have any answers and are down.

Hopeisallihave- That sucks for your DH. Glad he was able to get in though and get the test done.

riogirl71-yes it is very tough that he's gone so much but he said that will change after March. Sorry about the gestational diabetes. I got it too with my daughter and had to see nutritionist and the funny part was I had only put on 10 pounds at that point and only weighed 115 :(

Riya8383- Good luck tomorrow.

riogirl71- No I didn't. The strict diet and walking more really helped me. I pretty much stayed away from white carbs. I also cut down on juices, soda and snacks. I had a sweet tooth needles to say but unfortunetly my body doesn't process it too well. My sister also had them same problem. Before the diet I would have one of those frozen waffles, fresh strawberries and blueberries and whipped cream almost every morning. It's what I craved. Had to cut it all out and it was brutal. It's very surprising to find out what you think is healthy and find out that it really isn't. I still have to be careful with the carbs and sugars.

Have you met with a nutritionlist yet? Going on insulin must be hard.

Rio- I had gestational diabetes and I used insulin. See if your insurance will cover seeing a nutritionist. I went to one when I was first diagnosed and she was tons of help!! Ive since continued insulin shots daily because I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes after pregnancy but mine is hereditary. I miss drinking Coke and ice cream!! LOL
Anyways, DH is still here for another 2 weeks. YEAH!!!

Sweetpea/Heather - thank you! I had GD with our son also but not until later. Now I am 10.5 w and already have it. My fasting numbers are around 100 and my 1 hour are from 120 to 140 and they want it under 130. I met with a nutricionist and she wanted me to have 30g breakfast, 40g at lunch and dinner and 15 g snack 3x a day. I have been following this to a T but my numbers are still high, especially fasting. So I meet with an endocrinologist tomorrow, I am even having a snack at midnight to bring my fasting down but no go. I think it will be insulin for me. I don't mind the shots so much but the fact that each week it gets worse the more pregnant you are the more insulin resistant, so catching up is hard and I find myself with sugar lows and sugar highs until I figure it out, plus I have to watch for ketones too, I test my urine every morning. Heather, I am sorry you have type 2.

Margi - Thank you, I am really struggling -

It is very difficult to mourn someone you never met but was a part of your body & have those around you understand why you are so sad - so this has been difficult. I wake up every morning praying the sadness I feel is a little less or maybe for one second of the day to not think about this and feel like such a failure & that I let everyone down.

Spoke with RE today & he was extremely optimistic for us to do a FET - he said with the blood clot or sub chronic hematoma that I had (they can't be sure which one it was) they think it created a toxic environment in my uterus & ultimately caused the miscarriage however he said it could have just been chromosomal too and that the clot or SCH burst because of the miscarriage. So basically hard telling not knowing :-( This time around he will monitor me much closer & check for clots & SCH's

Everyone really wants to know what will make me feel better & basically what will make me feel better is for me to be pregnant again - so we decided to sign up for the FET on February 15th - we have six snow babies. We are cautiously optimistic that this will be the time. The embryo report on the remaining 6 eggs is optimistic 4 are of better quality than the two they transferred originally. So we feel optimistic but not confident.

Thanks for all your prayers, PM's & well wishes we will get there. We start BCP tonight - xoxox, Kt

Rio -- So sorry for your gestational diabetes! I do hope you will able to cope and have a pleasant pregnancy.

Leora -- Rhodes sounds amazing! And I totally understand what you mean about it being difficult to believe there's a God with all the horrible things that happen in this world. I know there are people in this world who have things worse than I do... and I do count the blessings I do have... but still it sucks. Ah... you're from Pittsburgh! Is it difficult to be so far from your family? Congrats on mastering Hebrew! What other languages are spoken there?

Riya-- Everyone is different and some women have no BFP symptoms at all. Keep in mind that progesterone totally mimics pregnancy symptoms so that really messes with your head. For me... I had specific implantation cramps that were obvious that SOMETHING was going on in there on days 7-9 post transfer. Then they completely stopped. Unfortunately, as you can see in my signature, I miscarried. :(

Ryann --I don't know what happened to those darn Bears!?! Hopefully it's out of their system and they'll rock in the playoffs.

txc -- Wow! Congrats on a terrific second beta!

jmbella -- Welcome... so sorry for your m/c. Hope this next time is your time.

kimber -- Oh no on the All American guy!!! Thank goodness you had the chance to see before it was.... ah hem... too late. And I do acupuncture too. Right now I'm going once a week for the month before IVF then I will go before and after transfer as well as a couple of times in the 2ww. I didn't do it for my first IVF or first FET and both were negative. I did it for my 2nd IVF and got a BFP so I'm a believer.

justsolost -- Hmmm... defintely a med or two missing in your list. Like the FSH product!!! Typically Gonal-F or Follistim. And I was typically on BCP's between 2-3 weeks prior to IVF. 3 months seems long to me. I would ask your RE what the reason is. Maybe there's a good one.

sunshine -- Hope you get the answers you need from your RE as to why he won't consider you for IUI. Good luck!

hopeisallihave -- Haha about looking on the floor to see if your BCP fell out of your mouth!!! I have to admit, I've never done that! Do you open your mouth before you swallow it or something??? And that really stinks about your DH's labs! My clinic did that to me too once before. REALLY annoying.

Margi -- Sorry about your lemon of a car! That stinks. Cars can totally be money pits. 2011 is going to be YOUR year too!

longtimerivf -- Did the labs give you any clue about why you didn't get a normal AF after your BFN? My RE didn't give me any real info at my WTF appt either. I'll be heading into IVF #4. So far I've done 5 transfers, 10 embies and no baby yet. So discouraging.

nwquiz -- Good luck on your upcoming beta! I hope that wasn't an evaporation line.

katieb -- It definitely takes time to heal from losing a baby. When I lost mine... all I wanted was to be pregnant again as soon as possible. It was horrible, and still is. I really think you have a good chance with 6 frosties. Were they frozen as blasts?

AFM -- I'm really stressing over a work project right now. I'm expected to put in about 120 hours on a project IN ADDITION TO MY OTHER WORK RESPONSIBILITIES with a deadline of 2/11. Like I need this stress on top of IVF too. So hoping AF comes on time so I get the green light to start.

Lou - All were blasts - 4 are day 6 blasts of varying quality - 5AB, 5BB, 4AB & 4BA (Scale of 1 to 5 - then ABC grading) and two of the first four are hatching blastocysts - the other two went to 7 days are a little less than those. So we feel optimistic but still it is hard to have faith - I am questioning that as well lately - everyone says god only gives what you can handle well I have had it up to my eyeballs with what I can handle enough already please!

Rio-
It's so weird shopping for a guy! When I first started looking for a donor, I was really hoping to find a redhead. I'm a redhead myself and love it. But, the selection of red donors was slim pickins so I decided to broaden my choices. My criteria was mostly based on medical background, interests, and smarts. I did get the childhood photos but some are so grainy you really can't tell much. The audio interviews and essay questions were a big help as well. It may sound silly but the thing that drew me to my top 2 choices was that they were both big animals lovers (like myself). For the guy I'm going with - when asked what the one thing he would save in a fire was...he answered his cat. Awww, right? That clinched it. He's a blondie with green eyes, tall and skinny. Just waiting for his adult photos to arrive so I can make sure he's actually all-american :D and not covered in tats! Although, this guy is an anonymous donor.

Heather: Thanks for the MOJO assistance!! :-) Glad that DH will be here 2 more weeks...and, here's to you!!!Image

Nwquiz: I am so hoping that that was no evaporation line and that was signaling a BFP for you tomorrow. I am totally hoping and have everything crossed for you.ImageImage

Carol: I am on the other side of the state, so I guess we found different bad clinics. :( Regarding my endo, laproscopic surgery is really THE best way to diagnose it. I was diagnoses when I was in college due to very painful periods and other strange pains. I had an HSG to make sure that my poor one tube was open and not full of adhesions before I started doing IUI, but otherwise no one has made mention of treating me differently during fertility treatments because of it.

Riya: Good luck tomorrow with the POAS!!! Image Please post any positives so we can all get to see!!

Katie:
It is not easy at all. Take your time to grieve and be sad. We are all here for you whenever you need to vent, or just express your sadness. Nothing at all wrong with that. But, focusing on being pregnant and your frosties will help you move forward and through the pain. And your plan sounds wonderful. Valentines Day sounds like a perfect time to get pregnant. Image

Rio: Sorry about the GD. And so early. Take extra good care of yourself. And two more sleeps until you get to see your little one again. YEA!!Image

Kimber: Nothing wrong with being drawn to animal lovers...lots of us here have fur-babies ourselves!! What do you have?

LongtimeIVFer: sorry that you are feeling so blue right now. We are all entitled to times like that during this journey. I like your quote. And, hope that you get some answers with your labs.Image

Kat:
Thank you for the understanding. It is tough, but no other option but to move on and try to figure out what to do next. We have tried IVF 3 times and have exhausted our insurance which is why we turned to IUI. If I hadn't lost one of my tubes due to ruptured ectopic, I would feel more confident. Each month of IUI I feel like I am "wasting" half my eggs. We shall see what plan we can come up with.

AFM: Just slowly recovering from BFN. Trying to research and plan. In the meantime will be improving diet, taking vitamins and supplements (yes, Rio, DHEA and wheatgrass among others  can't hurt any), doing acupuncture weekly, getting back to the gym (I hope!!) so that regardless of what route we decide to follow I will be as ready as I can be. No sense being any less.

Riya - good luck with your HPT!

Hope - you cracked me up! Did you faint when you saw the box of meds?

Sunshine1576 - I hope you get your answers on why you can't do an IUI.

justsolost - my old clinic only did IVF cycles every other month, could it be they are making you wait for more people or their calendar? Did you have a cyst before?

Kimber - yickes! Of course you should change your donor! What made you decide against an anonymous donor? Just curious. Good luck finding a super guy! What characteristics were you looking for?

----------------

Oh dear it came out negative.... :-( my embryo transfer was done on 27 Dec ad had HCG shot on 29th Dec and HPT -ive on 5 Jan morning 5 am.

I'm feeling scared.... I have to go for LIT today... ma doc told me to take it on the 10th day of ET
jmbella - welcome!

Heather - how are you hun? Lots of PMA for your next cycle I hope and a big surprise for DH! Has he left yet?

txcp - CONGRATULATIONS! Awesome beta!

Bakers - I am glad your SIL is off the ventilator, many prayers for your nephew! I understand being scared, I didn't go to the other side until after the HB.

Sweetpea - must be hard to have DH gone so much. Hopefully DH will get out of Jury Duty!

Leora - I totally understand questioning your faith after all you have gone through. I hope that when you get your baby, in this next cycle, you will rediscover your faith. Again huge hugs and I am so sorry for all you have gone through. You are a strong woman with a loving DH.

AFM - got full blown early Gestational Diabetes. Making an appt to get my insulin cause diet alone will not control it, starving and having high blood sugar is a terrible combination right now and the only way to fix it is insulin. All for a great cause right!!!!!
