nwquiz - I am so sorry. BFNs suck. I wish I had meds to share - but I sent mine to Margi. I'm glad to hear DH is on board with trying again... let me know where to put you on the list when you are ready!

Kat - it should be about 60F during the day and 50F at night. Which is a tiny bit warmer than here right now. It will probably be raining - but that's a novelty for us! We are having a severe drought now, it'll be nice to see some water!

Carol - it would be too funny if one of us picked your son as a sperm donor! How does that make you feel in general - that you could biological grandchildren out there that you don't know? Does meeting women who make the difficult choice to use sperm donors change how you feel about it?

Jamie - Welcome! Only two more days until your beta!

Riya - sorry about your BFN. What is LIT? What is TNF-alpha? (I actually kinda know what that is, since I work in a lab and we sell TNFa - but I'm not sure what it means. I just deal with the business end and recognize our product names!)

Katie - I agree -my marriage has been my rock. Whenever I look at couples who get pregnant really easily, I compare my relationship with theirs. I wouldn't trade my marriage for ANYTHING, not even an easy 'having-kids' story. I try to focus on that when the IF gets me down. I'm glad you have such a good marriage too.

Margi - I'm a teeny-tiny bit (ok - A LOT!) obsessed with penguins - I love that dancing penguin blinky you gave to Lou! So cute! It is really odd to cuss in the languange that I pray in - but it's so normal here! I'll be thinking of you on the 18th - hopefully we both get good news.

Jenn - I've never flown with IVF meds, but I have a friend who is Type I Diabetic and flies with needles and meds all the time. As long as you have a Rx with you, they shouldn't give you any problems. A trip! Fun! Business or pleasure?

Sunshine 12 - I'm sorry you aren't getting more follicles. I know that it helps to remember that you only need one, but it's nice to have lots. Fingers crossed that all those follies have big healthy eggs in them!

Lou- 6...6...6...6...6...6...6...6...6... WIN! :D Doing the AF dance for you - and sometimes being swamped at work is a good distraction - so I hope you like what you are doing at least!

Kildean - yay for a good ultrasound! No idea about the twins things - but I know people who have had it go either way (the smaller one didn't develop or did become a twin). Either way - congrats!

Rio - in one week I'll be in Greece! yay!

Heather - oh honey. I'm sorry things aren't going easy with your breast isssues. I'm so sorry that Aimee's birthday is this week and she isn't here to celebrate with you. :( big hugs on your hard day....

Kelly -
CONGRATS that is a great second beta. As the number gets higher, it slows down. Only 2 weeks until your u/s! yay!

Hope - I hope your first injection went okay - it's really not so bad, huh? :)

SD - I also am always on here, even if I don't get a chance to post!

Sunshine 1576 - I'm sorry you have such tough decisions to make. I hope you can come up with a plan that you, Dh and the dr are all okay with. I know how hard that is....

Kristin - WELCOME! There is a list on the main page of the "General Forum" with a whole bunch of abbreviation definitions. DH = Dear Husband

AFM - my opera's run finished. PHEW. It'll be nice to have some free time now, but I'll miss the craziness of being backstage. Auditions for the company's next show are in February. I may or may not audition. I might just take a break from theater to deal with all this IVF craziness.

No BCP this morning! I'm officially waiting for AF for my HSG on 1.18. I'm leaving myself on the list under "on BCP", since I'll be starting the next pack next week in anticipation of my new IVF cycle.

Greece in one week!

ARGH my E2 is only 174 on day 6 of stims. She said that was fine I'm going up I'm just taking a little longer and may stim longer. Going back on Sunday for blood and ultrasound. They have upped my Gonal-F to 225 again. I go oh so I guess it definitely wasn't bad at all I screwed up the other night with the 225 and she laughed and said no. Everything else is the same. Fingers crossed for Sunday that things turn around and I don't need to cancel this cycle.

Margi – How are you?

Lou – Hello my dear friend. I hope you don’t drive yourself crazy with that job. This is going to work this time!

NWquiz - I am so glad that you are still moving forward. When is your next IUI scheduled?

Kildean – congratulations on your pregnancy! I don’t have any experience, but it will be interesting to see on the next U/s. This is by no means a comment with any data, but it could be possible that the second egg is just behind, maybe implanted later? Do you think it’s still possible that it’s a viable sack? Did the dr’s say anything?

Rio – oh how I agree! Let’s all play the lottery together! I’m still grieving with you about the other twin. How are you feeling?

Heather – What a rough week for you. I’m so proud of you for continuing on. I can only imagine how hard it is for you. Hopefully, continuing to remember Aimee and acknowledge the loss and importance will help make each day better for you. Are you trying a different protocol this time?

Bakers – congrats on your pregnancy!!!! Your numbers look great! Keep up the PMA

Tx – congratulations! I hear you! If I was throwing up, I’d be happy too!

Justsolost- that’s interesting that your clinic only does cycles every other month. Do you know why they do this?

HopeIsAIH- Congrats on starting Lupron!

Sun1576 – I’m with you. Sorry to ask, but I agree, why would Endo not affect and IVF cycle but affect an IUI cycle. It would be the same uterus that the eggs would need to impact in, so that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me! But, I don’t know anything about it. I’m curious as to what you find out and agree that it’s always good to ask more questions. IUI is just so much less expensive, and if you believe after surgery that you could be successful with an IUI, why not give it a chance? Would love to know others opinions on this.

Kristin – WELCOME!

Jamie – only 2 more days! How do you feel? Anything different?

Sweetpea – I’ll do the “grow at the same rate” dance for you! It doesn’t seem like they are that far apart now, so we’ll keep hoping they progress at the same rate!

Leora – that’s so awesome that you sing. I sing in my church choir, but nothing big. YEAH for Greece. I’ve always wanted to go.

AFM: I am starting up acupuncture again. I know it would have been better if I would have kept it up, but it’s expensive, so I took a break from that as well. I see her at 4:00pm tonight and she is seriously one of my favorite people! I’m going to go weekly, which is a lot more frequent, but I’m at the point where I need to feel like I’m doing everything in my power to make this work. This will be our 4th IUI, so I just hope that it’s going to work this time! Just waiting for AF on Jan 18 and then we’ll get the show on the road! I know it will be here before I know it! Found out this week that another girlfriend of mine is pregnant and she and her husband were having issues, but she was able to get pregnant by provera and then clomid, so never had to get into the extensive business of IUI or IVF, so I’m happy for her, of course, but just wish it was my time. I’m trying to stay super positive and visualize that this is going to be my month!

Leora... it would feel a little odd because I am very close to my boys and would absolutely love and adore my grandchildren some day - just not ready for it now - or at least they are not ready to be fathers. I tried to talk him out of it so he wouldn't regret it later knowing he had children whose lives he wasn't apart of, but at his age money is what he is thinking about. But honestly, now knowing the "other end" of getting pregnant I realize that most women experiencing infertility are more ready to be a mother than most women that end up getting pregnant by accident, so I would feel good knowing that my son was able to help. I equate the feeling to an organ transplant... one of my boys had a liver transplant and I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for the donor family to give up their 9 year old son's organs to perfect strangers, but they knew in their hearts their own son was gone. We have met my son's donor family and I know that his transplant success has given them closure as well as hope, maybe even a sense of satisfaction. And, while no one died for a sperm donation, it is a good feeling to know another life has been created or saved. He is a sweet kid (even though he is 23), smart, very handsome, talented and very sensitive - a quality you don't see in most men. He will make wonderful children some day. =)

As for accupuncture... does it hurt? I'm not real sensitive to pain, but I have endured a lot in the way of surgeries and injuries over the years and the idea of paying someone to stick needles in me seems a little drastic, but if it helps me get a baby, I'm willing to try the pin cushion route.

Leora, Rio, Sweetpea, Lou, & the rest - the shot really wasn't as bad as I was imagining it. Now I know what my patients feel when I give them a SQ shot.. you can barely feel the prick. It did itch at the injection site for 10-15 mins though, but I'm guessing that was a normal side effect? I got a headache later on in the night too, but not sure if it's from the shot or my torticollis. Oh well, it wasn't all that bad overall.

Leora - I'm soo envious of your Greek vacation. I've always wanted to go! We were supposed to go during our eurotrip in 2009, but we decided on Italy and France instead. I just fell in love with Italy, especially because Venice is where DH proposed to me :) We also went to Belgium and The Netherlands to meet DH's family, too. I guess we'll always have a reason to go to Europe since his family lives there, so maybe we can do Greece the next time (maybe with a kid? :D). Good luck for your HSG appointment.

Sweetpea - I'm keeping my fingers, legs, toes, everything crossed for you to continue on this cycle. How high is the E2 level supposed to be?

Jamie - you're quite strong-willed. I wouldn't know what to do during my 2ww either. I'm not sure if I'll be a POAS diva or rather wait for the blood test to determine once and for all. I'll cross that bridge once I get there, I suppose. But hoping for a BFFFFP for you!

Tiger - Do you pay out of pocket for the acupuncture or does your insurance cover part of the cost? Does it hurt? Is it relaxing? I've been told several times to see an acupuncturist for my torticollis, but I'm not sure I believe in it. DH definitely doesn't, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try? Think positive thoughts and this month will be your month!! Lots of baby dust to you!

sweatpea-dont worry the hormones will pick up slow but sure. and the size of your follicles i think is right for day 6 of stim. sending all the good vibes your way to push those follies and e2 up.
cjinNc-you crack me up girl. its odd that a boy his age will tell you his plans of making money. now when i think of it in school ppl always sold plasma with no problem just to get 20dollars. there was a clinic i looked into donating eggs at the time but chickend out when i was told of the needles i had to stick myself for 2weeks. now looke at me am a pro although i still prefer when dh does them. i hate needles. am almost like the hubby that faiths. even when they have to draw blood the ladies know me. i give them such a hard time. but its all for a good cause.
hopeisallihave-am with you i dont know about the acupunture. but if it will yield a bfp i will go for it esp if it does not cost am arm and leg. here at my clinic is 150 a session.
tiger-am sitting out this cycle. af is killing me. dh wanted us to go ahead this cycle but i alwys have residual cysts so its feb for me. home af comes on time. coz am ready for my bfp.
leorira-thanks for all you do on this board. put me for next month iui. so waiting on af. sounds crazy coz she is here with my bfn. oh so we may be in the 2ww together 8)
jamie-lool whats up with the wait. wrong group. you know we are poas pushers girl     pee on a stick.
krcaja-welcome on board.resting follicles from what i understand give the doc an idea of how many you have resting.so with the meds it wakes them up. but not all follicles always have a viable egg. but 15 is a good number for a start. go girl.
Rio- i cant forget you. i have looked intp dhea. i dont have a problem with follicles. its just them not sticking. but i think at this point am for dhea. i have been reading on it alot lately and i think am going to target to get me a bottle. it should not hurt.
Margi-hope you are alright my dear. we still need those blinkies to make days go by fast.
sdtrying- will keep fingers crossed for dh to pass his test since you already passed yours.
lou71-being busy if good esp during the 2ww. less stress and makes days go by fast for a bfp.
justsolost-yee for yoga. i love it and it relaxes me so much. go for it. you can also find fertility yoga online tho the woman gets on my nerves. its neat cant think of her name now.
for those i left out on personals i dint forget you. will cath you next time.
oh before i forget i was just told by a friend some good news to those that live close to a bank of america. they are hiring and they have fertility coverage after the first 30days it becomes effect. if they had one here guess what i would do? apply to sweep or do something till i get my baby then go back to being a dietitian.
OKay this part am not 100% sure. that because of the obama health reform, insurace can not have max caps. so if you were told you are maxed on your benefits check it out again. the lady had maxed on her insurance but now she is being told they are going to pay due to the reform. i dont know for how long this is good.

Sorry I have been MIA. I start meds tomorrow, so I estimate that my ER will be 1/23. I did not get AF, but I went for bloodwork today and they said everything looks good. I would not mind skipping AF, as I have had enough recently!

Doing AF dance for you Lou! Our ER's should be very close!

Carol: Acupuncture? I have just recently gotten SOLD on it. I started it during my IUI’s--figuring it could only help. I too was nervous about the needles, but, it is the most relaxing thing! I don’t feel the needles--except in one spot on my one foot--so she takes it out every time. They are so thin, nothing at all like the needles with IVF/IUI treatment. Honest--I fall asleep during each of my sessions. She leaves me alone for about 20 min during the treatment and I take a wonderful power nap with needles sticking out all over me...and her wonderful heat lamp and relaxing music. I can’t attest to it helping with pregnancy, but I know it helps me relax greatly. In fact, I went to see her yesterday and I had a horrible sore throat with a cold coming on. DH has been suffering with it for 2 weeks. And today, I am feeling better already. Maybe it is the power of positive thinking, but I’ll take it! And so many clinics now offer it on site--I really think there is something to it--if only to help you relax through the process.

Kildean: Congratulations of your u/s. I don’t know what to say about your second sac, I don’t know much information about that there. I know people see sacs and then later a HB and sometimes not. Wishing you the best.

Kimber: How are you doing?

Heather: How are you doing? Thinking about you...Image

Sunshine12: Have you had another u/s? How are those follies growing? Quantity is good...but quality is better! Hang in there.Image

Lauren1171: Welcome back!! Starting tomorrow...awesome!

Riya: How are you? Did you go for beta today?Image

Lou: My dancing feet are getting sore...AF needs to show her evil head by Sunday!!Image
Samantha: You too...AF should be here now, right? Or...one more day.

Kat: Take deep breaths...all seems to be going ok....sometimes a longer stim period is necessary. I remember being a bit worried my last IVF cycle because it got stretched out longer than the previous ones, but I still got 10 eggs. Hang in there!Image

Tiger: I am doing ok-thanks for checking in with me. I have my WTF session with RE on 1/18 (day you are expecting AF and the day Leora is going for her HSG). But I am possible cooking up a different plan that I am feverishly researching. If it works out I will share!! Keep up your PMA!!! This will be your time. PS. I, too, have learned to LOVE acupuncture. I was so scared my first time and now I think it is the best.Image

Hope: Proposal in Venice...how utterly romantic! Italy is one of my favorite places too. I have only been once, but hope to be able to return someday. Congratulations on starting injections!! You are on your way. And PS--see my above note to Carol about acupuncture. I think you should give it a try....can’t hurt!!Image

Leora: Count down to Greece. Wonderful!! Enjoy every minute. It will be the perfect way to get yourself all relaxed and ready to cycle.Image

Jamie: Best of luck!!! Only 2 more sleeps until you get your betaImage

Nwquiz: Sometimes a month off can be what you need. I was disappointed at first that RE wouldn’t go ahead with another cycle for me, but it is giving my body some time to recuperate after 3 straight IUIs in a row and giving me some time to think. I am trying to come up with a plan to get our BFP!! And if that is true about the health reform affecting benefits, I definitely need to check that out...take extra care of yourself this month.

Kelly: Congratulations on a wonderful beta. As Annashope says, the doubling rate slows down as you rise. How many weeks or do will you be on the 12th for your u/s? Take great care of your pregnant self!Image
Ginger: You too! Take good care and sorry you are throwing up--but for what a great cause it is!Image

Justsolost: Glad you got some more information. I hear great things about yoga. I am going to be starting myself--first class on Sunday. I am a bit worried that I will make a fool of myself, but so be it. My acupuncturist really recommended that I go--I do tend to stress and worry a lot and my job is a stressful one. I need to relax more so I will give it a try.

SD: Glad that all is a go with your antral count!! Hoping for all systems a go with DH’s sperm test on Sunday.
Image

Sunshine1576: Hm--I’m going to have to try to search for some yoga on Netflix or other places on the internet. Regarding your decision--it isn’t an easy one. I know that endometriosis can make IUIs difficult if there are adhesions in your tubes. I am no expert at all. All I can suggest is that you weigh your options, listen to DH, listen to your heart, and then come to an agreement. Best of luck--none of this is easy.

Kristen: Welcome!! My understanding is that follies grow from the antral count--and it sounds like yours was just fine! Let us know what your u/s tomorrow shows. Hopefully your follies are growing nicely. Acupuncture is great--in my opinion. Anything that can help you relax during your cycle is perfect.

Rio: So sorry about those ovaries...hope that they are shrinking every day. And that your GD is under control. Thank you so much for all your encouragement, and ideas my friend. I am feverishly exploring the options for an amazingly exciting possibility. I will keep you posted!!

leorira11 wrote:nwquiz - I am so sorry.

HI Dear, I have negative HPT and not BFN, I'm still to go for my beta test tomorrow :-(. TNF Alpha is a test where my body's white cells are greater and my immunity levels are very high which prevent embryo to implant.

Greece in one week!

cjinNc-you crack me up girl. its odd that a boy his age will tell you his plans of making money. now when i think of it in school ppl always sold plasma with no problem just to get 20dollars. there was a clinic i looked into donating eggs at the time but chickend out when i was told of the needles i had to stick myself for 2weeks. now looke at me am a pro although i still prefer when dh does them. i hate needles. am almost like the hubby that faiths. even when they have to draw blood the ladies know me. i give them such a hard time. but its all for a good cause.
hopeisallihave-am with you i dont know about the acupunture. but if it will yield a bfp i will go for it esp if it does not cost am arm and leg. here at my clinic is 150 a session.
tiger-am sitting out this cycle. af is killing me. dh wanted us to go ahead this cycle but i alwys have residual cysts so its feb for me. home af comes on time. coz am ready for my bfp.
leorira-thanks for all you do on this board. put me for next month iui. so waiting on af. sounds crazy coz she is here with my bfn. oh so we may be in the 2ww together 8)
jamie-lool whats up with the wait. wrong group. you know we are poas pushers girl     pee on a stick.
krcaja-welcome on board.resting follicles from what i understand give the doc an idea of how many you have resting.so with the meds it wakes them up. but not all follicles always have a viable egg. but 15 is a good number for a start.

Hi Dear, I'll be going tomorrow 14 day of transfer

Hi ladies,

Just checking in. Doing well with my Lupron shots. First one was scary but now I feel like a pro. Have bloodwork and u/s scheduled for 1/10 to see if I'm ready for stims. Finally chose "Mr. Right" and feel good about my choice. His swimmers will be shipped to my RE next week so I feel so much less stressed now! :D

Carol - I haven't come across your son's profile (I don't think) but it would be strange if I did, huh? Although most guys do it for the money they earn, I still think it's great that your son is contributing in that way. "Organ donor" is a great way to think about it. Even though he's not my donor, thank him from me for being so special to donate that part of himself to others. It REALLY takes a special person to be that selfless.

Here's another question for everyone - has anyone ever tried Fertility massage? I was reading about a lady that does a pelvic massage that stimulates blood flow and can help with those who have a lot of scar tissue. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this? My first thought was is definitely makes sense to get the blood flowing down there but then I wondered if there could be any harm to come from a massage like that? What do you guys think? Just exploring alternative ways to help increase my chances :D

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Positivity and Baby dust to all!

I'm there with you Sunshine12 on yoga for hangovers. lol not sure if we would ever use it but might could only help with recovering from reality, but we have to be prepared either way! I think I've finally convinced dh on opting for the Laproscopic surgery. It would definately give us peace of mind if nothing else. My best friend in Alabama had the surgery and then got pregnant 4 weeks later. I know it all depends in most cases, but why not rule it out? I would love to hear more opinions on endometrious, how it might affect fertility treatment... Yes, it's true it would affect IUI, and I know in my heart that is one thing we are definately looking into. Dh would be willing to try IUI a couple of times. He said last night if by June nothing happens we would move to more invasive treatment with IVF, possibly DHEA.
Thinking by then, we might be ready if that obsession doesn't take me over the edge first. You know we might need yoga for hangovers afterall!
