Ghost and all- your FET opinions in 2011

Post by Winterhopes »

Hi Ghost,
Me again here, gearing up for FET next week and looking for hope.
I have read your previous years' postings about FET, but wondered if your opinions have changed in light of new research now that it's 2011.
I have one Day 5 and one Day 6, both AAs (the best), vitrified, and plan to transfer both.
1. Do you still believe the Day 6 will do as well as the 5?
2. Is there still damage from freezing that I should be concerned about?
3. Is there any evidence of anything else I can do to help this process, other than the usual dos and don'ts?
Thanks!

Day 5 versus 6 is no big deal. Reports say that is especially true in FET, including a very recent report out of Belgium on vitrified blasts.

An embryo can be damaged by freezing by any technique. The main threats are ice crystal formation and the cryoprotectants. There is nothing you can do about it. It happens sometimes.

I don't know of any special do's and don'ts. There are many rumored remedies, like pineapple and acupuncture, but the evidence for most of these is weak or nonexistent. Of course, your RE will prescribe estradiol and progesterone, and these are known to be beneficial (or essential) in FET (except maybe for natural cycle FET). I would go with what your RE says.

Sounds like you should have great chances. It's just a little early to pick out names yet, but it should not be too long before you get to that point.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
