**February 2011 Babies**

I went in for a checkup today and my blood pressure was high. They check it 3 times and it went down to a bit lower, but still not great. They are some blood work and I get to collect a giant jug of urine for 24hours. I go back tomorrow morning for another checkup. If my blood pressure is still too high I will have a c-section tomorrow. Otherwise we will wait until next week and see what happens. I am 90% effaced, which is good, but only 1cm dilated, it means my body is getting ready for labor but no way to tell when. It seems like I will meet these babies soon!

purple - sorry to hear your BP is spiking up... hopefully it will be down by tomorrow so you can keep these babies snuggled up with you a little bit longer and go for VBAC as you were hoping for! in case you go forward w/ the c-section tomorrow - BEST OF LUCK and can't wait to see pictures of your little ones!!

kitty - hope you are enjoying your time with the twins - how are they doing?? do you know when you'll all be able to go home together? thinking of you!!

afm - nothing new here... one of my co-worker welcomed his baby boy 3 weeks early today. mom and baby are doing fine, their happy news made me completely freak out for some weird unrationale reason ("if singletons can be here 3 weeks early, then my twins could be here any day"). so i ended up spending most of the day scrambling to get my leave processed at work, arguing w/ our benefit lady b/c she would not take the paperwork until 30 days before my due date ('do you realize i am expecting twins??") and looking into life insurance so our twins would be taken care of in case something happens to DH and i. oh and crying frantically every hour or so. i hope i am back to my normal self tomorrow... i swear DH looked at me today with eyes that said "who are you and what did you do w/ my wife".... i am blaming this all on hormones

Hi purplefish! Sorry to hear about your blood pressure, that's the same thing that happened to me a couple of weeks ago and they had me do a 24-hour urine capture so check for proteins and rule out preeclampsia. I hope everything works out okay, but I know your quite far along so the twins will do well.

kittymom - How are you? I hope you're recovering from the c-section and that your little babies are continuing to grow.
Any update on when you or the babies get to go home?

julia_78 - Sounds like you've been busy, but you got alot done! I'm still trying to find a pediatrician as well as a nanny. I haven't been very successful with either so far, but hopefully soon.

AFM - At my OB appt this week we decided to schedule me for a c-section on 1/31/11 which will be exactly 38 weeks.
Baby Boy in vertex but Baby Girl is transverse, they've been in that position for about a month and not likely to shift since I'm quite far along and there's no room for them to move. I was a little bummed at first about having to do a c-section, but one thing I did make clear with my OB is that I would deliver them both vaginally or via c-section not both. Although the boy is vertex and in presenting position, there's no way to know if Baby girl will descend properly and then they would have to do a c-section anyway. There's no way that I want to recover or deal with the complications from both! So, I get to sit tight for a little over 2 weeks unless they decide to come earlier!

The blood tests came back normal today, but my blood pressure is still too high for my doctor to be comfortable with it. I really wanted him to do the c-section and he agreed to let me wait until Monday (so he could do it) as long as I stay resting and go in for a blood pressure check tomorrow. So anyway Monday at 10:30 I will be having a c-section. Not the delivery I had hoped for, but as long as we are all healthy that is the most important thing.

I will be reading up on all of you ladies, so keep posting, but I might not have a chance to do proper responses for a while.

I will post a picture when I get a chance next week.

EEEKKK Purplefish! I am so excited for you. You stay nice and comfy this weekend. You've done a great job of cooking those babies and now you get to meet them. Please let us know how you are doing and of course we all understand you'll be super busy. Much love!

AFM- OB appt on Thu. She said my cervix was starting to soften but I am not dilated. Oh gosh I guess that means it's starting. She wants me to keep a close eye on all contractions now. I actually just had one 20 mins ago. Just one though. Baby can NOT come this weekend. DH is in Greece. I guess I will just go to sleep now. Nighty night.

PA-I hope that your babe didnt make a guest apperance this weekend while DH was away! You tell baby girl to hang in there just a little longer it's way too cold outside for her

Purple-So is tomorrow the day? Good luck with everything and cant wait to see pics of the little ones. I'll update some too as soon as I can figure out how to do it!

Mev-Does this mean we are no longer prego twins? How are you feeling? Getting closer just about another month and you'll be meeting your little loves Do you have everything all ready? Recovery from the C sec hasnt been too bad. I dont know if Im lucky or if I just havent noticed because I am so preoccupied with the twins and their recovery. Im sore but it gets a bit better every day. The biggest problem I have is that my hands and feet have swelled up like you wouldnt believe so make sure that you drink tons of water and get as much rest as you can after delivery. (Easier said than done I know

Julia-I hope the crying stopped for you. I was shocked at how much I cried a few days after they were born. I thought the hormones were bad before, that was nothing compared to after!!!!

Jenice-Thanks for the encouragement on pumping. Its getting better now. Except I feel like Im hooked to that machine all day!

AFM-Sorry if I missed anyone. What a week this has been. The babies are still in the hospital (2 different ones). Leigh had a bowel obstruction and had to have surgery at 3 days old. I was devistated. She is so little and I was so afraid for her to have any anestisea but thankfully she came through it all ok. They are running some tests on her to see why her bowel wasnt working like it should. She's a tropper though! Daniel is finally off his breathing machine (now I can see what he looks like!) he still has "spells" where he forgets to breathe but the docs say that is to be expected in preemies and they usually grow out of it but their due date. Doesnt look like they will be coming home before then. I feel like I am missing so much already. But I know that it is best for them to stay where they are until all their issues are resolved. Just hard having them in two different places, worrying about them like crazy wishing I could spend more time with them. But there isnt much I can do. It will be easier when I can drive again (Jan 24th cant come soon enough!) then I wont be dependant on anyone for rides. That is basically it. Still waiting to be a full time mom to these two precious babes. They have such great personalities already it unbelievable!

kitty - you are one amazing woman! I couldn't even imagine the stress of having the babies in two different hospitals. I am sure it is hard, but before you know it they will be home in your arms. I am so sorry that Leigh had surgery, that must have been so scary. I am glad that she is doing better, it seems like your babies are getting good care. I am really glad that you posted and I got a chance to read it before tomorrow! I am thinking about you and your babies and I hope they are getting stronger every day! I was an emotional wreck after I delivered last time, and I didn't even have the added stress that you did having premies. Even if you are feeling like a wreck, you are doing a great job loving and caring for your babies even if you can't be with them all the time. The day you bring them home will be a day to celebrate!

PA - your cervix can start to soften really early. I am almost 100% effaced (softened) and I still haven't gone into labor. Hopefully your little one has a bit longer until she comes.

mev - the end is near! A scheduled date hooray!! hopefully you can find a pediatrician that you like. We interviewed several the first time until we found one that fit our parenting style. We found one that had a set of twins himself, which was super helpful.

julia - can you tell work that full term for twins is 36-38weeks to make it easier for work? I have no idea why they can't just hold onto the paperwork in case something happens. Being emotional is part of the end of pregnancy. Listen to Kitty though, after delivery your hormones will go crazy and it will be even worse


afm - I made it through the weekend.. hooray! I head in tomorrow for my c-section. I am a bit nervous about tomorrow, which is kinda silly, I have been through it before so I know what is going to happen. I am also fretting a lot about leaving the older twins, even though I am sure they will be fine. deep breaths! Thank you ladies for all your love and support, it has been so much fun sharing this journey with all of you and I can't wait until everyone's little one (or ones) are here!

oh my god purple!! congrats on the arrival of your baby twins! i can't believe you were able to carry TWO 7 lbs babies that long, you are my twin mama idol!! i so hope i can do as good as you did... i am so happy your babies are finally here and that the c-section went well. don't forget to post some pictures when you feel up for it!
