Woooo-hooo! Had an US today and bean was measuring quite a few days ahead! I am convinced it is a boy, the OB tried to find out the sex but bean was not cooperating which is fine because DH wasn't there and I want him to be there when we find out, I think I saw outdoor plumbing but who knows! I think it is a boy! Heard the HB for the first time on doppler, a perfect 150! Monday for the Nuchal Test now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay, Rio! So happy for you! :) Good luck with your nuchal scan on Monday, or is it just the blood test for you?? I can't wait to be able to say second trimester...I have almost arrived. Woot! Isn't it funny how the babies don't co-operate when we want them too, I hope you are able to find out soon whether your little one has "outdoor plumbing". So fun!

I had a sneak peak at the bean today. Everything looked great! Heart rate was 170, the baby was moving lots for me!
They moved my due date to August 18th. So now 10weeks 1day! Can't wait to be out of this first trimester!
Next US in 2 weeks. Can't wait!

I am going to find out what I am having, but have a strong feeling that it is a girl. I don't care either way. It would be nice to have a boy for my son but a sister would be fine too!

hope everybody had a great weekend!

I have a question... If the baby swallows the amniotic fluid and also eliminates in it, does this mean that our babies are cycling their own waste?

Yes. Lovely thought, eh? It's not very glamorous is it. :)

Quick question for all the ladies on the board. We had a level 2 scan the other day and everything came back normal except for one thing. The baby has what is called a Echogenic intracardiac focus (EIF) in the heart. (It is a small marker for Downs). There are about 6 other markers and the specialist said everything looks totally fine EXCEPT for that. Does anyone have any experience with that? Even though he said my chances are low, it freaked me out a little.

Thanks in advance everyone!!!! :D

Hello ladies. Congrats to all those who have found out. My US is in 1 week and I can't wait! The original plan was for my DH to find out and surprise me but I ruined that because I'm taking the day off. We've now decided to have the tech write it down and put it in an envelope. We are going to open together later that day. That way it's a surprise for both of us. I agree with kizmet, IVF took out the surprise of us finding out we are pregnant that I want something to be a surprise, I just can't wait that long. I want to start buying clothes! I just last week started feeling the baby move. It's such a weird sensation. I love it though. It's such a relief to know that things are going well since we haven't heard the heartbeat since my last appointment over 3 weeks ago.

Sending good thoughts for all of you going through tests soon!

Hi ladies. Congrats to those who are finishing up the first trimester...and for those who already past this mark! I am ending my 12th week, so I guess that wraps up the first trimester for me! yeah! Different websites say the 2nd trimester starts wtih the 12th...some say 13th...some even say 14th week? Anywho, had my nuchal screening and passed with flying colors! I wasn't worried b/c we did the PGD 24-aneuploidy screening, but it was good to get another confirmation. Plus got to see the baby for quite a while, which was nice. My scan took about 30 mins b/c he/she was not cooperating all the time. I'm just happy that time is moving along, although I find myself daydreaming of spring. I slipped on ice this past Monday and it worried me all week even though the only thing that really hurt was my right knee b/c I landed on it. I hate cold weather!!!!!

So I think this baby is a boy. I have felt it from day one. The needle/string test says boy. But we will be finding out around week 16 and I'll reconfirm it with my PGD results too! I don't want any mistakes and prepare the nursery for the wrong gender! I have to say I'm looking forward to knowing the gender this time. I can't wait to work on the nursery and stuff. I just can't deal with the mystery and drama of waiting this time around. I want the experience of preparing the nursery, bonding earlier, picking out the things I really want for a baby boy or girl. It's hard to prepare (in my opinion) without knowing! Not that you can't but you pick out different things than you would if you knew the gender. Anywho...

I hope everyone is well and happy! Sorry no personals. I feel so far behind!!!!

One word of advice for those having a first baby or a baby after grown children, you will get so many clothes as gifts!!! We ended up with way too many clothes for a newborn and 3 to 6 mos he never wore half of it! :)

Freckles, you can elect to have an amnio if you want to be sure. What did the OB say? WHat were your odds with that and did you do the quad testing? on baby center there is a thread with poor diagnostic results and lots of success stories after diagnosis, seems like you will be fine but it is impossible not to worry! I went through this when my AFP blood was messed up and high risk of downs, the other US and blood were much better and our son is perfect, I am sure your baby is perfect!

Karen - must be nice to have the PGD insurance! I think a boy for us also!

Deidra - I like the idea of the envelope!

hopin - great results!

mellow - thanks! It is just the scan, no blood cause of the twin! Second trimester is just around the corner for you, keep taking it easy. Are you guys still moving>?

Quick question, my bean was measuring 13w3d on Friday. I was 12w6d. I know nuchal is supposed to be done between 11 weeks and 13weeks and 6 days. Do you think I will still be ok? Technically I will be 13w3d but he might be bigger than 13w6d at that point! My GD diet is making me lose weight so not only did I not gain anything during 1st trimester but I lost 2 lbs, OB said it is fine as long as I am following everything. He said I might not even gain any weight through the whole pregnancy! That is so weird!!! He said if I am losing but baby is gaining then I am ok, nutricionist disagrees...

Hi I am Diane and my husband is Mike. Am new to this board. Currently 12 weeks 2 days pregnant with twins. Don't know the sex yet. Had 2 previous miscarriages within the last year so have been cautious about getting too excited, but so far this preganancy, everything is going well. Next ultrasound will be in 2 weeks at 14 weeks, maybe we'll find out the sex then. We are hoping for a boy and a girl. Heartrates at 12 week ultrasound were 141and 142. Had the screening test for chromosonal abnormalities and doctor said the reuslts could not have been any better, 99.9% chance of no abnormalities, so that was a relief.

I have a twin ticker code, but don't know how to insert it into the post. Anyone can help me with this?

Welcome, Diane, and CONGRATULATIONS!!! Make sure you're copying the BBCode for your ticker. Then go to the user control panel, profile, edit signature and paste it. Hope that helps :D Congrats again!

Rio - Couldn't agree with you more! MIL is showering us with super cute baby clothes, my BFF has sent a tote of her son's clothes she been saving for me for the 2 years we were TTC, and they (with my mom) are planning a blowout of a baby shower for me. I'm sure we'll pick out an outfit or two just for the fun of it, but I don't think we'll have to worry about clothes for the babies for a looooong time.

Karen - WOO HOO for beginning your second trimester!!! I thought it was super confusing when looking for what week it starts, I went with the earliest because it made me happy sooner. Do you have any themes in mind for your little one's nursery?

Deidra - The envelope idea is really cute! People can be a bit reserved with their emotions in front of the u/s tech. You and DH will get to celebrate without a stranger sitting right there. Little flutters are the BEST! Isn't funny how someone so tiny can be so active?!

Kaylie - I don't have any experience with that, but do know that false positives are very common in prenatal screening. Do they have any other tests they suggested?

Mellow - Hope everything is great with you and your tiny ones! Keep us posted of upcoming appointments.

Amanda - When do you find out the gender?

Ryann - Where are you??? How is everything going with your little beans? I'm curious to hear how your pregnancy's going! I hope you and the little ones are great!

Everyone without tickers should get one. I love being able to see how far everyone is progressing!

afm - TMI ALERT!!! I've been off of Zofran for a week now. My OB suggested my nausea was being caused by the constipation the medicine was causing... so, I reluctantly decided to break the cycle. The first few days were tough, but I made it through. The good news is she was right! I actually went 6 times (6!) in a 48 hour period a couple days ago!!! This is after weeks of going maybe once a week, sometimes not even that. Needless to say, I feel MUCH better!!!

We're really looking forward to our anatomy scan that's a week from Tuesday. Hoping to see two incredibly healthy little guys/gals and that they cooperate so the tech can determine their genders!

Speaking of constipation... My prenatal was causing horrible constipation. My OB recommended a stool softener which has dramatically improved my quality of life!

Welcome Diane! Congrats on twins!

The Zofran caused constipation for me as well, but if I only take it once every couple days then it doesn't seem to cause a problem (I quit using it at one point because the constipation was so bad). Now that I'm in the 2nd trimester, I've only had to take it twice since my nausea has settled down.

I felt the baby kick last night, not just flutters! I could feel it on the outside of my belly, too! My husband was able to feel it once. It was wonderful. Today I have felt the flutters but no actual kicks. I want to feel it again so badly. I loved being able to feel a little foot or hand with my fingers. It was like we connected in that instance. I loved this baby before, but I love it even more now. I can't wait to see him or her on the US in 5 days!

Deidraj - That sensation of movement is just fantastic isn't it. DH thinks I have totally lost my mind sometimes when we're doing something and I say "Sorry, just going to have to sit here a bit longer because Bean's kicking me in the belly" I'm not moving anywhere when I'm being kicked because I never want it to stop!

Rio - Congrats on now being in your second trimester! I love the term "outdoor plumbing"!

Anyone here had an experience with bubs measuring undersize? I'm 26 weeks and last week was in hosp for a little while because I hadn't felt Bean move for a couple of days. Fetal heart rate and ultrasound confirmed that Bean was doing just fine, however fundal height suggested that all was a bit on the small side. The ultrasound they used in at the hospital showed that there was plenty of amniotic fluid there but couldn't do measurements, so this thursday, I'm off for a formal ultrasound to check that Bean is measuring OK and then CTG monitoring after that appointment. Of course, now I'm starting to panic mildly that there might be something wrong. The OB seemed keen to get this done ASAP (before Tuesday) but because the imaging dept is super busy, they couldn't fit me in before Thursday (so I'm figuring that's a good thing - it can't be super urgent right?). OB has rang me twice, including on Sunday, to check I'm feeling OK and that Bean has resumed moving enough for me to feel (yes on both counts).

Anyone else been there done that?

Hi ladies! I'm here I promise! I feel like the world wide web's worst bump buddy-but I am really NO fun to be around! I was put on bedrest for a bleed on January 7, went back to work and then had some more spotting. DH and I are trying to decide if I just throw in the towel with work now or if I try to keep going. I'm a 6th grade teacher and my kids have their state tests in 4 weeks! I know they need me, but my twins need me more! Not to mention I am sooooo sick-I throw up every day. I'm barely keeping any food down. I've actually lost close to 10lbs, yet still managed to grow a baby bump! I pretty much sit around and cry, which is why I haven't contributed much to the boards. I still check on you all every day though!

Congrats to all of you who have found out the sex of the baby(ies)! How very excitig! I can't wait to find out! My sister, who is 9 weeks ahead of me, just found out she is having a boy, so now I'm praying for at least ONE girl, otherwise that's a bunch of baby boys!!!!

On the up side, DH let me pick out the nursery furniture because I was being bummed out about feeling so crappy! So now we have 2 beautiful cribs and dressers upstairs waiting for these rugrats! I actually bought my nursery bedding years ago because I just knew what I wanted-it's black and white French toile and gingham. It's really beautiful. I found it online and ordered a second set now that we are having two babies!!!

I'll try to post more often, but even if I'm not posting, know that I'm reading and thinking of you all every day!! Xoxo
