Shellie's positive

Post by Shellie »

Hello mums to be.

I am a bit aprehensive about posting here so soon but didn't know where I belong now. Last Monday DH and I received the brilliant news that our bloods come back positive for pregnancy! :D We had EC 17th May and ET 19th May. I know it is really early days but would love to talk to people going through the same ordeal. We feel extremely lucky as this was our first attempt at IVF.

My hcg levels on 14th day after EC were 485. I've had no further tests to confirm they are rising. I have my first scan on 23rd June which seems a lifetime away. Each day I wake up and wonder if I am still pregnant. Although reading through Caz/gems/binas thread that seems perfectly normal!!

I would love to start swimming, how long after EC should you wait before heading to the pool? I've been recommended not until after the first scan.

I have very sore boobs, lots of bloating and cramping. Is all this normal. I seem to get nauseas at night rather than morning. :?

I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions as time progresses. I hope all other mums to be are doing great.

Best wishes
Shellie

Hi Shellie

Well done for making the leap over to this side. I can't help but float from one board to the next. I don't think they mind :? I'm like a bad smell that won't go away :? No rude comments please?

You sound as paranoid as the the others on the 'just here' thread. It's all natural. I was a nightmare in the first few weeks so you are normal in that respect.

Take care and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Thanks Dagny, I'm glad your a floater, so far your posts have been an invalueable resource for me. I hope one day you will get to hold a little bundle of joy in your arms.

Things are a bit negative on the other side at the moment. Not a good week of tests. I am trying to keep positive and convinvce myself I won't have any issues. It works 20% of the time which isn't too bad!

Hi Shellie,

Great news - well done and congratulations! :D Sounds like a great number on the blood count too... :D :D

Your scan will come around quicker than you think, and then after that, the time willl really fly!

Don't worry too much about swimming - just take it easy. A lot of girls (including me) did nothing until the first scan - you have to do what you feel is right, just no overdoing it. I went to aquanatal classes later on in pregnancy and it was wonderful!!

As for the cramping etc - absolutely normal - I know it's hard not to analyse every ache and pain, but just think about the changes your body is going through ( - especially if there's more than one  !)

If it helps at all to put your mind to rest - I bled, had aches and pains for a lot of my pregnancy...

Take care anyway, and enjoy !!!!!!!!!

Zoe x

P.S Awwwwwwwww Dagny - don't be hard on yourself!!!!! We love you 'floating'!!

Cheers Shellie and Zoe

Right then I shall continue to float!!!!!! :D

Although if I continue my comfort eating it will be more like dragging myself from board to board - hee hee!

I will be a 'fat bloater' rather than a 'forum floater' - Ho hum

Shellie - You are right it is quite negative on the other side which is sad :(
I hope things get better over there soon. You will be fine, you are in that 2nd 2ww which is always a killer. Try to be positive it's the only way.

I'm with Zoe on the exercise front or rather lack of it. Being PG was our excuse to do NOTHING - right Zoe???

Love and hugs Dagny xkx

Congratulations Shellie
excellent news for you both.

Everybody is different regarding what they will or won't do while pregnant and everybodies symptoms are different, although between us I think we probably cover them all in some shape or form.

I was certain my af was coming throughout 2ww had previously had a neg and didn't feel very different. Then sore boobs but no sickness until about 8 weeks when I was hospitalised with ohss, still worry that the pethadine has harmed the babies. Then no symptoms since apart from baby in ribs, tired and bad back.

I didn't do any exercise until after 20 weeks, apart from walking, then I did some yoga and joined an Aqua natal group, which I agree is really good and nice to talk to other mams to be. I think they advise you not to join aqua natal until at least half way through your pregnancy.

Take care and enjoy your pregnancy, keep us updated.

HI Shellie,
CONGRATULATIONS! That's wonderful news! Enjoy it and don't let any one spoil it for you! Least of all us!

I'm one of the super-paranoid ones on the 'just here thread' so don't take me too seriously...! I can of course totally understand all your worries and dilemmas (one day I'm pg, the next I'm not and so on, it's a real rollercoaster still!)

My next scan is also on the 23rd so let's look forward to it together!
All the best - nerves of steel and happy eating!!

Hi Shellie

Congratulations on your positive result.
I did not exercise until i went to aquanatal at about 20 wks. Take it easy but if you are use to exercise they say to carry on as normal but i would wait until after your scan.

Take it easy and try not to worry to much.

Hi Shellie

Just wanted to wish you congratulations on your positive!! I too fell on our first attempt and will be 21 weeks pg on Monday and I still can't believe that I have been so lucky. I didn't have any sickness although I too felt sick around 11.30 am each day and again in the evening and also had quite a few cramps (I was always ringing the Dr)!
Once you see that heartbeat or two at your first scan you'll relax but only for a short while!! As all the others know every scan and midwife appt is a hurdle but it's great when you pass each stage.
Enjoy being able to do nothing and look after yourself and your precious bump
Dawn

Thank you all for the lovely replies. I am starting to enjoy being pregnant and trying not to worry too much - easier said than done.

I am finding my trousers aren't fitting so comfortably anymore. At just over 4 weeks I am sure it isn't because of that. Did anyone else have this bloated belly with the pessaries? I'm guessing it must be them. I have stopped them now. The clinic said my own hormones will have taken over.

I was in John Lewis today and found myself walking through the baby furniture section. I was sooo excited thinking one day I am going to be able to go in there and look and buy those things. I've never seen so many pregnant women in one place!!

I can't wait until the 23rd now. Just want to see that everything is ok and to finally find out how many there are. There are quite a few having twins on this site! What a scary thought....

Thanks again for your replies.
Enjoy the weekend

Hi Shellie,
I know - I can't wait to get my shopping hat on - once I feel it's safe to do so.
Anyway, I remember posting a similar query a few weeks back re: bloatedness. It's definitely the pessaries, they really do make the lining of the wombs thick in prep so that's why you get bigger so quickly. I only took mine for 14 days, but it was enough to make me wonder why I looked like I was 3 mths pg. Then after a bit you actually get bigger anyway....so don't worry - more reason to go shopping for new clothes...!

Enjoy!

WOW thats SUCH great news! You can come and join our paranoid club!!
:D
Its great to be able to give SOME advice to someone though
1. bloating normal, I had it SO badly in 2WW I thought I was OHSS (yep am totally off rocker) - its the pessaries and your uterus/ muscles stretching - its a good sign. Weird how noone really warns you about that symtom?? I thought I wasn't showing at all -appart from boobs which are taking over the planet. Saw my mum yesterday -first thing she said was, "O look at your pot belly!!". okay looks like the tight t shirts are out! I'm sure all my pregnant friends say they didn't show until 4 months. Well I can tell you I noticed my tummy (always "rounded" at the best of times") almost immediately!!
2. Swimming - fine I think. I did a bit. But I have to say I have been an exercise addict for years and I have been COMPLETELY rubbish for the last few weeks. Just too tired/ sick/ can't be bothered!!
3. When is your scan? If you think you feel amazing now just WAIT until you see a little heartbeat!!
Anyway welcome!!!!!

Dagny - you must float as often as possible -don't know what we'd do without you!! :) You'll be over here full on - in no time anyway!

Anyway -big X to all

Shellie

Congrats - sorry been having a manic weekend (no you lot not putting my feet up again which have now swollen but still not stretch marks!) or would have got on before. It's wonderful and would not be suprised if you join the twins club - we will see! Either way you are pg so enjoy!
You lot on the just here board - I am very proud with you giving all this advice - Shellie they have covered it all I reckon and like they say all your symptoms are perfectly normal - your body is undergoing huge changes and it's a really weird thing when you get all these strange symptoms!
Dagny - we love you to pieces wherever you are as well you know - or should do and I am trying all the tricks I know to help you get back on the pg after tmt board so I can watch you go though a safe and happy pg that we all know you deserve :D
Love

Hi Shellie

Just wanted to say congratulations and welcome to the paranoia club. It really does make you feel better knowing that there are others in the early pregnancy stages who are just as paranoid as you are.

Feeling really crap today. Couldn't sleep very well last night - think it was because of the hear. Anyone else have the same problem?

The kids are back to school today after a week off for half-term and I have a very long list of things to do now I have some free time. But I'm too tired to do any of it!!

Have just rejoined my leisure centre so I can go swimming as I am feeling really fat. Coming off the pessaries doesn't seem to have made much difference. My stomach is huge. Am very worried I won't be able to hide it for another month. Will have to go into hiding.......

Love Fiona
