Greetings Ladies! :D

Happy Belated New Year!

Sorry for being MIA, I have the age old excuse of being so busy or too tired, apoligies.

I just did a quick read to try to catch up.

Chris-twins at 1 so blessed. Congratulations and look forward to hearing more.

Jenny-Welcome, this is a great group of ladies with great support.

Diane-Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will hold them close to my heart as we venture forward with DE.

NY4th-fingers crossed, sending lots of PMA and babydust.

Tammy-looking forward to hearing about your trip. I'm so happy for you and your family.

Yamina-so good to hear from you and looking forward to March when you will have more time.

Hello to everyone else, sending out gobbs of PMA because you can never have too much

AFM-where to begin :? Well we made it through the holidays and gained 8 pounds, mainly because I fractured my heel last September; I don't reccommend that injury. It seriously hampered my ability to get around let alone take care of a two year old. The pain from the injury may have played in the fertility/infertility arena :| So, recall the RE said that at this point we could do IUI or move to DE for IVF. IUI is a bit more affordable than DE. Well we've had 3 failed rounds of IUI with DS[donor sperm] and that was very disheartening to me :( leaving me with up and down days wondering is this emotional rollercoaster worth it. Then I look at my DD and say yes. I may take Tammy's advice and ask for the X-ray HSG to make sure my tubes are still open and to 'cleanz' the soil of the garden so to speak. I feel with IUI and ala naturale we're racing the clock, while DE the clock isn't as important. You can imagine that this fuels an inner conflict in me and this can not be good for conception :| That's where we stand on those issues, waiting and in the mean time hoping/praying that ala naturale will be a winner as we a mass the funds for DE. To compliment all this I've just about eliminated processed foods from our diet. I'm sort of loosely following the paleo diet: lots of veggies and fruits supplemented with some meats [not every meal]. In addition I take 50mg DHEA in the morning with a multivitamin, fish oil, Calcium, and Potassium supplements. Mid day I take vitex [helps regulate women's cycles-http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/vitex.html] and vitamin E. Late afternoon I in take vitamin C [fruit or supplement]. I ran out of glutathione so need to go get more and that is taken throughout the day with the other supplements. Since I'm eating a variety of nuts, I'm not taking the L-arganine. I make sure that after ovulation I eat a cup of fresh pineapple daily. Sadly AF arrived yesterday :( another month that al naturale did not work. We are not too surprised given DHs status of slow motility, poor morpholgy, and low quantity. But all it takes is one, just one that makes it to the egg and penetrates the egg's zona pellucida. So we pray with each ovulation cycle that may be a swimmer made this round.

Thinking of everyone and wishing you well.

All the best,
Catharine

Rhonda: Thanks for all the well wishes. Hoping that nature prevails for you. BABY DUST.

Tammy: How are things with your sister going? I pray that she is well. Are you getting ready for China? So exciting!! Can’t wait to hear from you.

NY: Praying for you and that embie made it. How is your new cycle going? Thanks again for being willing to make that intro for me. We decided, however, to go with SCRC in CA. I so appreciate all of your support and guidance.

CarolineP: I am hoping to be copying you..going for 4th IVF at 43. Hoping this one is the charm. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Jenny: So how did things work out? Have you thought about taking any supplements? I don’t know your age, or day 3 lab results, but there are studies emerging that suggest that DHEA taken for several months can increase that AFC (# of follies before you start). Also things like NY4th is taking...I have been taking some, but not as many as she is. Talk openly with your RE, but also do your own research. Sending you baby dust.

To_have fun: Thanks for the input. I feel pretty confident in the choice I made.

Catharine: OUCH. That doesn’t sound fun at all. :-( You poor thing...yes, that pain would impact things for certain. But your diet and supplements sound excellent! :) Is DH taking any? There are studies to show supplements can improve his counts as well as your fertility. We don’t have male factor, but DH and I are both taking COQ10 and I know there are several others for men...maybe check it out? In the meantime...best of luck amassing $$ for DE, but praying a miracle will happen before then and you will be able to just use that money for a fun trip while pregnant “naturally”. :D

AFM: Gearing up to start this next IVF cycle. I am really excited. I feel so blessed to be able to have a chance at IVF again (insurance cap was lifted 1/1/11). Anyone else that has insurance should definitely check as they don’t call you with the news. :? My day 3 labs came back good..FSH=7.5, TSH=1.32 E2=43.6, AFC=16. So all looks very optimistic! :D I am doing a Lupron protocol which is new to me as I have always done antagonist before. Anyone have experience with it? I am not really sure the benefit, but I am trusting my new RE and am very excited. I will be on BCP for about 10 days, then Lupron, then stim-follistim, Menopur and some low HcG. After a week of stimming I will fly to CA to complete my monitoring and for ER and ET. We were going to do PGD (if enough embies) to check for chromosomal issues, but insurance doesn’t cover (but may reimburse). At an additional $5600 out of pocket I don’t think it is worth it--or that we have that kind of "extra" $. Although it would be nice to only put back the ones that are “sound” I will hope and pray that if we put back more...one “sound” embie will find it’s way to implant nicely. DH and I are very happy and excited. Thank you all for your support. I couldn’t have made it through all of this without you ladies and this board. I will keep you posted.

Margi26-thinking of you sending lots of relaxing vibes along with the PMA. My first IVF cycle was with lupron, it was a co-stim protocol, no BCP, but used follistim and hCG. I'll be thinking of you and your DH. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. DH is also taken his 'fertility' cocktail of supplements. Fingers crossed he has a strong swimmer; all it takes is one right.

Hi Ladies. I'm new here and I feel the pain of being over 40! The thing is... I'm sure in our minds we still think/feel like we're in our late 20's. I've always been healthy, active... don't even look my age. I thought my "healthiness" would have transferred to my eggs. Boy was I wrong!
Has anyone had success with a lupron flare protocol? I'm on 225 IU of Follistim. This is my second round - I was canceled the first time. I had ZERO follicles and an E2 level that would not budge. Needless to say, after that I was on the internet every day looking for bits of advice... answers....
After sorting through everything, I decided to try royal jelly, maca extract, and vitex. I only took them for a month before the RE said we were ready to go for another round. I then stopped taking the supplements because those supplements normalize your hormone levels. Since the doctors mess with those levels... I didn't want to do anything to counteract the treatment.
Today is my 7th day on Follistim (cd11) and although my follicles have not grown tons, they've grown and my E2 levels tripled since 3 days ago. So... I guess I'm somewhat optimistic. Has anyone had a similar "slow" response? What was the outcome? Some say slow is better for egg quality...
This is all so stressful (and expensive).

Catharine: Thanks for the well wishes!

Bamagirl: Welcome! I hope that all has been working out for you this cycle. It is indeed difficult when we look and feel 20 years younger than our eggs actually are! I really hope that you got some great follies/eggs. Please update us!

NY: Where are ya lady? I need an update!? Hope that all is going well.

AFM: I got the green light to go ahead! I started stimming tonight. Switched to Gonal-F and Menopur...along with Lupron. I am super excited, but a little disheartened that my AFC today wasn't as high as last month. But, I have been on bcp for about 10 days...then stopped to get AF who arrived late yesterday. So I was barely CD2. Tech suggested that if I had gotten a count tomorrow instead I would have more follies. I hope so! I go on Tuesday--after 4 days of stimming and we shall see what is cooking! I leave on Thursday for Cali and then DH follows on the weekend. We are a bit pushed back in the time table due to issues with labs not seeming to understand what STAT means...ugh, but all should still be fine. I am full of PMA for this cycle.Image

NY: Woohoo!! Excellent! So happy to hear you got 5. Those supplements are paying off. Can't wait to hear your fert. report. I am doing well and yes, doing acupuncture. Going weekly and will go around ET. Did you go with ER as well? I know you aren't doing transfer, curious if there was any benefit with ER... Take care!!

Hello to all. Have struggled with sadness since our failed attempt with my eggs but have lurked now and then. Sending warm thoughts and baby dust to everyone, no matter where you are in the journey.

We are in a donor cycle right now. Retrieval is Sunday. I have an ultrasound that morning to check my lining. Keeping fingers crossed that all is well, as we have had to do 3 surgeries to get to this point and hoping that my oven is ready for baby baking.

I'm happy to say they retreived 11 eggs. 9 were mature enough to fertilize and 5 of them took. So we are watching them.

I'm also pleased to say that my lining looks really good. So it looks like oven is ready for baby making. :)

We go on Friday morning for transfer. Please send babydust.

Ladies, looks like a few of us are clustered together in timing! Awesome to have some folks to go through 2ww with...

Becca: that is great! Friday transfer....congratulations! How many will you be transferring?

Tohavefun: Your retrieval was to be Friday or Saturday? How did it go? Fert report?

NY: Dear friend, how are you? What is your status?

AFM: ER on Wednesday. All is looking good for a good "harvest". My E2 level is fairly high at 6450. I have lots of follies growing, but I am just hoping for one "good egg" given my age. Feeling pretty positive, however! Trying to keep the PMA up! Very happy with my current RE and clinic.
