FSH levels

Post by sable »

Hi all,

I was here some months ago as I had 2 failed IVF cycles at a clinic in Indianapolis.I finally decided to go to CCRM and after all the testing I was diagnosed with a high FSH Day 3 it was 19 and Day 10 it went down to 13.
I started taking DHEA (200 mg) after day 3 which might have lowered the FSH ???I told Dr. Schoolcraft about it and he told me to continue taking it.
I'm so confused as they would like to start my next cycle this month, but I feel I should take more DHEA for about a month or so and start the cycle after 1month??
Can everyone else tell me what their FSH levels are and is it worth trying another IVF cycle as this would probably be my last one as I can't ask family for more money  :(

Did they not test your FSH prior to the first IVF? FSH can change from month to month, but they say you're only as good as your highest FSH. If they believe your high FSH is the cause of previous difficulties and failures, I wouldn't rush the next IVF. Do some research on how to lower your FSH (though some RE's don't believe in that). There is a book called "Inconceivabale". It's a good book and I managed to read it in about five hours. (One sitting!) I managaed to get pregnant very quickly (less than a month) after my High FSH / Low AMH diagnosis, but reading that book and doing some things made me feel as though I was taking charge and and not simply sitting back waiting on the doctors. Things like eating healthier, cutting out some food/drinks/additives all together, doing yoga vs my more rigurous workouts, taking wheatgrass, seeing a chiropractor that's familiar with chiroproactic care for fertility issues,etc...

My FSH was 17.6 and my AMH was 0.2 (darn near undetectible). I was told I had less than 1% chance even with IVF aand was given the donor egg speech. Well, I was pregnant within a month, naturally! (Something else to consider if that's an option for you! Take a break and just have fun with your mate). Quite a few women with high FSH have gotten pregnant naturally after all the procedures, which is what made me try that route with a willing, known donor. I'm now a single mom by choice to an amazing 4-month old.

Hi Babyjazz,
Thanks for the detailed reply. Is the book by Julia Indichova? I will definitely read that.I had 2 previous IVF cycles(both were cancelled due to 3-4 eggs per cycle) and was not tested for FSH before that or at least not Day 3 FSH.I have been tested on other days and those results seem normal. My FSH is 19 and resting follicle 3.I received the donor speech but for now that is not an option,so I stressed to doctor Schoolcraft that I don't want to go that route. He said,Ok we will try with your own eggs and say they have had success.I also had an ectopic in 2007 so he says that is a positive sign.He might just be reassuring me just so that I get the procedure done...I don't really trust these doctors!!
I have started exercise which includes Yoga, started taking DHA (200 mg) and thinking about doing acupuncture?? I don't know how one can reduce FSH ?maybe the book might help.
Thanks again!
