Ryann - I LOVE the bump! You look adorable! And enjoy all these snow days you've been having. :D

Stephanie - I'm sorry you had such a scare this week! I would have been in a panic too. I'm really glad they subsided and hopefully you won't have that type of scare again this early on.

Freckles - WOW, what a horrible time you've had. I would be so furious right now. Sorry you had to deal with an all-day ER visit and now have to see the OB today about their findings. I hope the OB appointment goes well today. Please let us know how it goes as soon as you can.

Karin - My little one is doing great! So glad I have the doppler to get me through this LONG stretch between appointments. I just love hearing that heartbeat every few days. I can't wait until the 22nd for the big u/s but until then I'm now enjoying feeling some movement in there. I just started feeling it the last 3-4 days and I'm loving it! :D And to answer your fitness question, I'm not doing any exercising other than walking my dog 4-5 times a day.

Rio - Sorry that you & DS are under the weather! Hope you both feel better soon!

FrecklesDC wrote:Ok....here's how the story goes. I'm a bit annoyed so please forgive me.

As I said, my OB nurse called and said that the bloodwork came back and showed abnormalities. Of course, I freaked out. (By the way, I drove to Florida from the DC area last Sunday to spend a week with my family.) Once she told me that I was unable to relax and felt it was best that I head back to DC. On the drive back, at 10am she called. (I was in South Carolina by then) She said that the lab made a mistake and miscalculated the due date. They also put my birthdate as 1971 which would make me 39 instead of my actual age of 33. You would think my freakin' OB could call me directly to give me THAT news.

In any event, I was happy to hear those results.

Then....I think from being so nervous I haven't been able to eat or drink much. (I think I also may have a slight stomach flu) I decided to go to the ER this morning because I felt faint and thought I may be dehydrated. I wasn't keeping much down. Right before I left, the OB nurse called and said they sent my bloodwork back and changed all the errors. I am still showing abnormalities so my OB wants to see me tomorrow. UGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

So, I spent the day in the ER and tomorrow I see the OB. I just can't believe all the shit and the lab errors. I'm just so annoyed and pray that everything is ok. I should know more tomorrow.

Thank you ladies for being so supportive. You have no idea how much it means.
Jeeezzzzz....I can't believe that lab! Ask your doctor what lab they use. I wouldn't just brush that kind of error off! That's a super serious error. Know that we will be thinking of you. You could get there tomorrow and another "error" be discovered. Can you ask your doc if they can send another blood sample to a different lab. Just to be safe. I'm sure all is ok. xoxo

Stephanie - wow! I had no idea we could feel contractions so early! I was thinking 23-4 weeks at the earliest. Glad you are feeling better.

Freckles - I am outraged on your behalf! What a mess! And shouldn't they have recalculated everything before they called you with the news of the incorrect numbers in the calculation? Sometimes they way test results are delivered can be so insensitive. Am thinking of you and hoping everything is OK.

Love all the bump and baby pics! I have some cute US pics from last week that I will try to load soon.

I had an appointment at the regular OB with a nurse (?) today that they called "prenatal counseling." They just told me a bunch of stuff I learned in my first pregnancy and got updates from me on my current health and took some blood to check things the RE already checked. Got some freebies too. Weird thing - they had no record of my previous pregnancy and birth of my son in their electronic records!! Maybe because they merged with another practice since my son was born? Also, even tho the RE had already sent my records she did not have them. I only have one more RE appointment left! next week at 11.5 weeks. I am sad, thinking that I will never see the great folks there again. I have a lot of affection for them now after the last 4.5 years. I want to write them a really nice thank you note - and one to my accupuncturist too. Then, a week with no appointments, then I see the actual OB doc on 2/25. Good news is the counselor today is going to contact the maternal fetal health office to get me set up for my screenings. I want to get the results back in time to know that all is well before I join our state's Mothers of Multiples club, so I can go to the member's preview of the yearly children's resale on 4/5!

Today's RE visit went great. Saw the HB's. One baby was sleeping and the other was swimming around. Loved it!

Well I have some egg on my face....

I've had some pretty icky pain in the side of my stomach.. my obliques seemed swollen and aching.. even cramping at night. I was almost to the point of seeing my doctor. Then I realized... I have been holding my stomach in. Pretty much all day.

I used to be really heavy... as in... 270 lbs heavy. I lost 120 lbs ten years ago and have kept most of it off.. until I started TTC through IVF. I gained nearly 45 lbs... lost 12 of it this spring (while on meds, yay!), leaving me at about 184 lbs when I got pregnant... still way heavier than I am comfortable...

So now that I'm at that stage where I am looking more 'thick' than pregnant, I'm super uncomfortable with how I look and feel in my clothes right now. So I think I've been holding my stomach in so I don't look FAT!

Well hell. I can't do it anymore. I was even holding it in when I provided my belly shot! It hurts. The muscles are being pulled anyhow from the baby, and then I am straining them even more by holding everything in (which is impossible). So today I let it 'all hang out' LOL I just relaxed and let my baby belly be. It was pretty difficult, but no cramping or pain tonight after work.

I can't wait to be just obviously pregnant!

Sonya~ Hang in there lady, it won't be long and you will be hanging out there! :) How are you feeling otherwise? I was just thinking about you and wondered what was up! How often does your DH get the chance to come home from work to spend time with you? Hope you are well! :)

Aw thanks Mellow.. David left in the first few days of december, was home for a week, then I saw him again on the 24th of january... for four days. He's coming home for four days on feb 19th for another four days.

He should be done his winter work in mid-March.. when we are going to MEXICO for ten days! LOL His work is terribly demanding but financially extremely rewarding, we are trying to decide when he should give up the big money and time away to be closer to home. It's a tough decision that's getting easier. He's been gone nearly equal to the time he's been home.

How are you doing? Feeling okay?

Question: Is anyone in the 2nd Trimester actually getting their energy level back?

My pregnancy books say that I should be feeling energetic but I'm more tired than ever.

Barbara - I agree. I seem to have more energy during the day but after dinner I'm soooo beat. I feel like I have to push myself to stay up until 9pm. It's like my fatigue has just shifted from all day to the evening.

After 14 weeks it was like I was a new person. I'm highly energized all day and loving it. I get tired more easily, but part of that is just being out of shape from the past three years and my job that's demanding. I've resumed nearly all my pre-pregnancy activities. I'm so sorry things are not on the upswing for everyone.. I am enjoying it before the third trimester kicks in. I remember from previously how tiring that part is....

Sonya~ Does David work in the oil sands? I'm sure it gets lonely having him gone so often, but I know how well that type of work pays, so it's understandable. Glad to hear you are doing well, and feeling pretty good. You are right, the third trimester brings on the exhaustion...especially so since we aren't young little chickies anymore. haha. When I had my first daughter, almost 16 years ago...I was 20, and nothing got to me. Last year with my pregnancy with Johnny, I was a little shocked at how different I felt! :) I still count it a joy!

I would say I have more energy than the first trimester but am VERY easily drained. I need lots of breaks during the day. Getting off my feet to sip a glass of water numerous times a day is a very normal part of everyday. And though I'm no longer nauseous and instead hungry all the time, it's so hard to find something that appeals to me and I can only eat tiny bits at a time. I fill up so quickly!

DH said something on this subject that offended me yesterday... Something along the lines of "For someone that has done this twice before, you sure are an amateur!"   I came unglued! My "baby" just turned 10 last Thursday! It's been a friggin' DECADE since I've done this. Besides, I don't know if anyone besides other twin moms can understand the magnitude of difference when comparing to a singleton pregnancy. My poor body is being put through the wringer already! Men can be so insensitive!

Babyblu- I can tell you from experience that a twin pregnancy is waaaaaay more draining and tiring than a singleton. I feel much better with this singleton pregnancy than I did with the twins. It's drastically different! Yes, men sometimes just don't think!!!! xo

I agree about feeling totally drained...and after having a singleton last year...Yes WAY different! I did a lot more yesterday than normal, and I am drained today...no energy at all!
