Question about Reflexology

Post by zeena12 »

Hi everyone!

I'm in a true dilema - during my IVF cylcle in April/May I had been having regular sessions of acupuncture. I stopped just before EC. I am now 8 weeks pg and would like to start weekly Reflexology but was advised by a friend that this may not be such a great idea because it could upset the natural functions of the body and everything is in a delicate balance right now. WHat should I do????? I really wanted to try it (just even for the relaxation benefit) but I am scared to take a risk. Has anyone been having reflexology/acupuncture/acupressure after getting a positive pg??? Please help!!

Zeena, firstly many congratulations on your ++++ result. You must be thrilled.

There are quite a few of us on this side who have been pg at one point or another, but you might want to post your Q. on the 'pg after tmt' board as by default there are a lot more pg women reading those messages.

Once again, many congratulations and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy.

Debra.

Hi Zeena,
First of all congratulations!!
As for reflexology, I was having reflexology before I started my down reg on this my 1st cycle, and I was told not to carry on with it through the treatment, as it would interfere with the drugs especially as reflexology works on nerves and stimulating adrenylin which is not apparently a good idea with ivf drugs... So, I am not totally sure about once you are pregnant, but if you are still on any ivf drugs (i.e. pessaries) then I would be a bit wary.... Hope this helps a bit!
Good luck!

Zeena,

I have spoken to two people who are pregnant and they have been told that they should not have reflexology.

This is because reflexology is about balance and pregnancy is an imbalance apparently.

My friend tried a relaxing massage instead and said that this was just as relaxing.

Regards

Julie
