Oh Mello you poor thing :) I had braces in my teen years for 3 LONG YEARS...lol and it was a painful nightmare. Sure worth it in the end but so much pain....I can't imagine the pain of trying to do it in 1 year...ouch

Well as I suspected my sensitive cervix causes spotting all the time (the baby is fine and doing great) So I meet with the perinatologist on Monday and the cervix issue + I have a marginal placenta previa + the abdominal cerlage....well they would feel better if I didn't work right now. BTW I teach 7th grade social studies so on my feet all day. Anyways so from here on I will be bumming around at home trying to take it easy for my precious little bean....I am a bit bummed out but its for the baby and I would do anything for this little bean. I don't have to be on a strict bedrest but I should be taking it easy.... Oh and btw we were told originally to abstain from sex until 12 weeks and now we were just told that most likely the rest of pregnancy...ouch that's tough...lol  I know it sounds silly but my poor hubby...lol

Karin, I'm so glad that someone else is experiencing the peeing issue! With my cold I sneezed 3 different times the other day and peed a little each time! I was so embarrassed! I thought that it would be an issue later on in pregnancy, but never before 22 weeks. I also think it is a little bit of karma because my co-lead teacher just had a baby in December. Towards the end when she would sneeze, she would cross her legs first. I used to giggle at her, now I know I shouldn't have!

LOL @ the peeing when you sneeze/cough! I've had this problem for weeks now, my worst episode was much more than a "trickle". I had to clean up a small area on the couch where I was sitting when a sneeze came from nowhere.

Ryann - How exciting about your baby boy and baby girl! Do you and DH have any names in the works???

Anna - I'm so sorry to hear about the pelvic rest! It's tough, but completely worth it. DH and I joked about it a lot (my pelvic rest was on account of my SCHs) which I think helped a bit. Hang in there!

Karin - YAY for negative NT results!!! I have been experiencing the increase of discharge as well. After everyone's advice and PMs (THANKS LADIES!!!), I've decided that when I go to meet with my OB on the 1st, I'm gonna give her a rundown of the things that have me concerned for my cervix and ask for a u/s for at least some peace of mind. I've had early BHs, pressure in my lower abdomen, and a change in "leakage". If that doesn't warrant some cause for concern on her part, well... BYE BYE! I'm sure I wouldn't be the first or last pregnant woman to change OBs due to a difference of opinion.

Karian - LOVE the bump pic! So cute!!!

Gina - Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Another question for all the twin mamas... Does everyone have MFMs and/or perinatologists (are those the same???)??? Cause I had anticipated on having a peri, but was told "Nope, not necessary!" UGH! :?

Ryan how exciting a boy and a girl!!!! I am a bit jealous though I too had my NT scan this week but when I asked my tech who she thought the baby was she refused to even look before 16 weeks. ugh I am so curious...lol I mean the test went well and the baby is perfect but I wish she could have told us too who we are having. Oh well I can wait 4 more weeks :)

Stephanie- You definitely need a MFM. If your OB keeps giving you resistance to this or other non-invasive proactive steps like checking your cervix and addressing concerns (not the same as dismissing them!!!), then definitely find a new one. I have learned since having my loss (from my experience and hearing stories of others) that the majority of OB's are so damn dismissive. You have to be your own advocate. An MFM will do the detailed scans of the baby, can check the cervix (via vaginal u/s) to make sure it is long and closed. I have an MFM and an OB. My OB appts are pretty uneventful...checks BP, weight, asks me how I'm feeling/any concerns and does a doppler HB check. My MFM does all my u/s of the baby, cervix u/s check and just have much more indepth knowledge of multiples, high risk stuff and more into prevention. That's just my experience, but you definitely without a doubt should have a MFM. xoxo

I too have had the horrible peeing problem ever since I became sick, it's awful!! At least the SCH bleeding has been MIA since early January!

Have any of you started your nurseries yet? We ordered our cribs, dresser and bedding. Getting the room painted on Tuesday (so excited!) and new carpet within 2 weeks. Baby shower is 2 weeks away, which should be fun!

Karen: Which MFM group do you use? I go to the one in Morristown every 2 weeks.

Stephanie: You should definitely be seeing an MFM with twins, not sure why your OB hasn't sent you yet :?

Karian: very cute bump picture!

Ryann: Yay for a boy and a girl! I would have them recheck a little later on though as the genitals can both look the same early on.

Quick question, have any of you been experiencing some low dull pains. My pains are about two fingers up from the pubic bone and way inside. Does not feel like cramps or ligament pains. It comes and goes, it is not like contractions either, it will stay there for 30 min or so and it doesn't seem to matter if I lay down or walk around. It comes and goes and I have been feeling this since Staurday. I will call my OB tomorrow but was wondering if anyone felt the same.

I know some girls here have toddlers too, do you feel more worn out than ever? Boy I am just pooped caring for a toddler, diaper wrestling time and tantrums where I have to carry him. At the end of the day I am completely wiped and phisically spent.

Oh yes the sneeze/pee combo - lovely, I have to cross my legs so tight not to pee!!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!!!

Hey rio -

I've had the same feeling and my OB said it is round ligament pain. It didn't really feel like that to me but she said that round ligament pain can be sharp OR stay as a dull aching pain. It all depends on the person. Mine does not matter if I walk around or lay down either. It really hurts and is so uncomfortable. It may not be the same thing for you but she reassured me that round ligament pain can be low and inside and not exactly as described on websites. It can be a dull aching pain. Oh.....and I don't have a toddler but I'm still totally wiped out!!

Thank you Freckles! I don't have any bleeding and really don't remember those pains with our son but I am hoping it is nothing, I called anyway and will ask.

Talk about wiped, I thought I would be feeling all energetic now ;)

If you girls can, try and rent the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC - IN THE WOMB video, it really is awesome it talks about the babies development from day one. Even twins, it is so cool to watch the 4d US and also the computer imaging they did. It really is amazing to see what goes on inside of us! I just wasn't sure if their 12 weeks was really 12 weeks or our 14 weeks since we add the 2 weeks.

Ryann - congrats on the b/g twins!

I am crossing my fingers (no legs yet!) for a b/g combination! A boy for DS and a girl for me . . . I read about a woman who had a boy toddler and twins on the way and when she found out it was two boys she cried and cried because she would always be outnumbered and never have that sacred mother/daughter relationship. So far everything with my pregnancy has gone exactly the way I want it to go (got my bfp on Christmas Eve!) so something has got to go against me sooner or later :)

Gina- I go to an MFM group in Paramas, NJ afflifiated with Valley Hosp. They are great and were recommended by my OB. I did consider going to Morristown for OB and MFM care (b/c my fertility clinic has their HQ there and I've gone there alot) but didn't want to HAVE to do the 40 minute drive. I live near NYC in NJ. I hope you are liking your MFM/OB.

Thread Crashing!!!

Stephanie - I 100% agree with Karen about getting an MFM. My OB is sort of known as the "twin doctor" around here and is one of the top OBs in Central Florida. At my 7 week appointment he said I would DEFINITELY be seeing one and would have the majority of my u/s there. He could have done everything, but feels like with twins it's an automatic. A lot of OBs think twins aren't a big deal, but they are. I would find one for sure. Hopefully you'll have a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy, but it's good to have the extra care.

I gave two weeks notice at my job today. Working in a lab is just too much. Primarily, I quit because I'm having bad insomnia and horrid migraine headaches but I'll also be more than happy to get away from the nasty organic solvents that I work with.

It's going to be strange... I haven't been unemployed since I was 14.

Is anyone else having insomnia and migraines? I literally haven't slept more than 4 hours per night in over 3 weeks. I feel like the walking dead.

For the twin Mama's, I think it's important to have a MFM as a back up...I have one, but that is my only Dr., he delivers, so I don't have to have an OB as well. I know some OB's say twins aren't necessarily a big deal, but why risk it, when more often than not, they are born a lot earlier than a singleton. It's nice to have them watching.

I had a horrible night last night. Well, it didn't start out that way, my DH took me out for Valentines to beat the rush. We had a great time, until the drive home. I started having pain in my belly, and pretty fast it turned into cramps. By the time I got home, it hurt so bad I wanted to throw up. My bowels were a mess, and I was having a constant HARD contraction that wouldn't go away. For 45 mins straight I felt like I was in full blown labor, about to pass out. Thankfully I have a heart doppler so we got it out and tried to listen for their heart beats, and I found baby A, but it was a lot slower, and then baby B was really hard to pick up...all while contracting something fierce. My DH called the hospital and they wanted to see me, to just be sure. Wouldn't you know it, they were in no hurry at all to see me when I got there and waited almost an hour until the got me to a room...NICE! Things were more calm by then, but I was worried about my cervix. Unfortunately this is a teaching hospital, which means incompetent student Dr.'s and Residents at night. UGH. They didn't know how to do an ultrasound, so I was telling them where the SCH was, because they couldn't tell, and they didn't know how to measure my cervix. So, I walked out of there, not knowing how that looks. I did however find out, I have a slight yeast infection, and a UTI...hmmm. No symptoms, wondering if their incompetence is shining through in this diagnosis too. So after hours in L&D, I left exhausted. I've slept most of the afternoon today, and so far so good, I haven't had any episodes. I do not know what set this off, so it's a little scary. The good news is that the babies are fine, and wiggling around. Thank God!

I hope that doesn't happen again. It was truly awful, it was labor pains for sure, and my uterus wasn't happy, the contractions were visible from the outside, and oh sooooo hard...it was shocking. Glad that is over and all is well.

Take care everyone, and stay well.
