nwquiz - good luck on your SnS tomorrow!

Lou - glad you are stepping away from the sticks and you are not spotting, an early US might not be a great idea so good for you for waiting!

Leora - Wooza on the number of eggs! Awesome and your poor DH, I can only imagine the horrible situation and the pressure. I know I could not have an orgasm in the bathroom of a clinic with people waiting outside for me!!! LOL thanks for sharing!

SD - thanks for the daily pee report - I love it - trigger OUT!

jkulab - hang in there, early + on HPTs are actually not common earlier than 14 days!

Samantha - hopefully the 2 of us will change the luck on this board.

Kynlee - yup - you gotta do what you gotta do! After all the shots and checkups and worrying.... I wasn't going to let DH's "little guy" ruin this for us! Of all reasons to have a failed cycle, not getting the 'other half' was definitely NOT going to happen

Jeib - hoping and hoping that the stupid pee stick is wrong...

Anton - from your mouth to God's ears! Every year I hope that next year there will be a little one with us. It's really hard though. Our twins were due around Passover time (a major Jewish holiday). Of course, Passover last year sucked. I had just gotten my BFN from my first FET after losing my twins. Well, I got pregnant again in August, due again on Passover. Again, I lost the baby. So this year Passover is REALLY going to suck. How many more years do I have to say "well, *next* year we will have a baby!".... hopefully this is the last time ever we will celebrate without a child.

Carol - I thought the whole thing was hysterical -but I was trying to keep a straight face to him! I don't think it would have helped at all if I had laughed at him! Now that it's all over and worked out, we are both laughing about it. I hope it's a great story to tell our kids (as my mom always says - what's the point of having kids except to humiliate them?).

Darlene - I promise it's not the pee sticks that are stressing us out - they are just the sign of the stress that all of this shit causes. If I didn't have the IVF nightmare, I would have the pee-stick stress! :D

Rio - they always say that orgasm for women is about the emotional/intellectual part, but for guys it's about the physical part. I guess not! :) (and this is totally TMI, but honestly I get totally turned on by watching him masturbate, so I was having a grand ole time in that bathroom! If only the ER had been as simple as an orgasm!)

AFM - Thanks for all the warm support on getting 17 eggs. I guess it's what I was expecting . Our first IVF we had 18 eggs (of which 15 were mature and 6 became good day 3 embryos) and on the second IVF we had 14 (of which 13 were mature and 3 became good blasts). I'm hoping more of these are mature and become embryos.... hoping for at least 2 wonderful blasts for Sunday!

I'm trying to plan as much as I can for the weekend, to distract me from worrying about the embryos growing (or not) in the lab, but all plans that I can cancel, just in case I have the ET on Thurs/Fri and want to rest all weekend! It's complicated!

And for all those who felt bad for poor DH and his 'little friend'... Me, my sexy black corset and a bottle of wine made up for that indignity when he got home from work!

woohoo on the black corset! Yes, being able to embarrass children is a good reason to have them. This weekend my DH and I along with my 2 teenage sons (17, 15) were at a thrift store looking around and my 17 year old spied a breast milk organizer for the refrigerator. He saids "ooo...why would they have that on the shelf"... I said its for working moms so they can store their milk... He say "gross".. I say "oh no its not... you used to LOVE breastmilk - couldn't get enough" .. and I hear this older lady snickering behind me. She said "serves him right for saying something about it"... we had a good laugh.

Okay, you ladies. What a roller-coaster I'm in! So the 3rd beta today was 236.

So to recap:
1st beta 9dp5dt: 133
2nd beta 11dp5dt: 125
3rd beta 13dp5dt: 236

What chances do I have that this is a viable pregnancy? My RE speculates that the first beta was an error, and that the result could have been close to 60. That would make me somewhat on track even though the 3rd beta didn't quite double. The other possibility could have been a vanishing twin. Third possibility - perhaps an ectopic? AAHH! I wish I just had some definitive answers! I go back in for a 4th beta on Thursday. She said if my level is around 500, it would be a good sign. When (if) my beta reaches 1000-1500 range, she'll schedule me for an early ultrasound to see if there is a gestational sac.

I'm just really scared of it being en ectopic pregnancy right now. Will I lose my tube if it is? Someone please help!

I'm still not getting my hopes up. I'm pretty nonchalant about it and I think that's good for my PMA. I just hope it's not an ectopic!

Wow!!!! So much has happened I am not even sure where to start. 1 thing is for sure you ladies are BUSY!!! So I am gonna get started on personals and go back and finish reading.

Leora-Congrats on 17!!! That is fantastic! I can't wait for your fert report I truly believe this is the cycle!!!! I am sending you major sticky vibes!!!!! I want you to be extra sticky for ET. :D Also, I literally peed on myself laughing at you and your DH only because I think we can all relate a little too well on that. We too almost got walked in on in the bathroom once. I loved your remedy for all of his trouble!! U rock!!!

Margi-Any AF symptoms yet? Anxiously awaiting your good news and can't till CA. Are u packed yet?

Hope- I am so sorry. I am hoping for some good news today!

Tammy- CONGRATS!!! Come join us on the fall/winter pregnant board. LEORA- just waiting for your BFP so you can take over!!!!

okay gotta go make dinner so I will catch up with everyone after dinner.

ASFM-I had my u/s today. I am so filled with happiness, joy, and alot of mixed emotions. Baby A measured 6w6d ( I am 7 weeks today) with a heartbeat of 135. The Dr was very excited about the baby's heartbeat and measurements. However she was unable to find the heartbeat with Baby B and said the baby was measuring small. I was too overwhelmed to ask questions. She said that Baby B might be ok and just needs s few more days to show on the u/s. There was a definite sack but it was smaller. I am so torn. On one hand I am so happy to be pregnant and have one strong heartbeat but on the other I am kinda sad and anxious for the second baby, I kinda wish she just said the baby is or is not going to make it. I am hoping it just implanted later and will catch up. Also hoping it was the angle and she had a hard time seeing it because of the transvaginal u/s. Wishful thinking I'm sure.

Ashley -- I think you're chances are pretty good! I'm guessing vanishing twin. You're numbers are a bit high, I think, to be ectopic or blighted ovum. Are you having pain on one side or anything? Ectopics with IVF can happen but they are pretty rare since the embie doesn't travel down the tubes. I know you must feel so helpless right now but the level nearly doubling from two days ago is a very, very, good sign. I'm hopeful for you! :)

Hope - I am so sorry you are in beta limbo - not a fun place to be. I think the next beta will tell you a lot. Try this calculator: http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/too ... ulator.php When I had my ectopic, my numbers were (2 days apart) 33, 57, 57, 44 then a week later up to 238. So in general ectopics have a very strange pattern of ups and downs and not doubling. If you have an ectopic this early, they will monitor you, if you have any pains at all, sharp pains, go to the RE or ER. Hopefully the lab was wrong or there was a vanishing very early twin. I really pray you get a miracle! Your Re is great saying they can check you out at the 1000-1500 range. Image

Leora - you sexy thing!Image

krcaja - I am sorry you are going through this, I had a vanishing twin after seeing a HB and perfect measurement at 7w5d. I am so sorry and I know how you feel, so torn between being so happy for one twin and so sad for the other. I hope it all works out and they both turn out healthy, if you need anything, PM me. Ask for another US in a week.Image

Deftones – thanks for your support on the name. I know it’s silly, but it does mean something to me.

Lou – Thanks as always for your support. This is the exact situation I have been toying with. At this point, 1 IVF would cost about the same as 3-4 more IUI’s, so if I don’t get the show on the road, I could have done IVF!! But then, what if the IVF doesn’t work? It’s a hard choice. I’m hoping to have more clarity after the HSG. You know, she didn’t know that I wanted the name, so I can’t fault her at all…and I agree..If I am so lucky to have a daughter, her name will still be Stella! How is your FIL doing? To me, it looks like both the lines are lighter, so I wouldn’t be worried. You cannot buy any more tests!

KatieB- Good, I’m so glad that your acupuncturist has you on similar things. I can’t believe your friend knew your name and went for it anyways. I think you should still use the name, I’m still going to use Stella! I don’t care!

Margi – I’m so glad we will be close in our cycles! This has to be it for both of us! How are you doing?

Anton – You are totally right. There will always be women around us that are pregnant. I guess because I am young, I haven’t been faced with it yet in terms of very close friends. I just want to join the party! 6 friends pregnant for you! Wow. I hope you can join them soon!

Leora – So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Yes, the IUI’s are so much easier than IVF. Mostly because you are on a lot less drugs, less to keep track of, and not as stressful. However, the negatives are that the odds are a lot lower, so you have to lower the expectations. It was difficult coming from doing an IVF because I was hoping for a 30-40% success rate. Dropping down to a 10-15% success rate is much different. I really hope that you won’t need the next step, but it’s great that you are considering it and talking about it. See, you aren’t even going to need it! 17 eggs! AWESOME!!! Oh my gosh, I feel so bad for David. It’s just so stressful for everyone. I hope he doesn’t feel bad about it!

Connie- welcome! I completely agree. I haven’t been telling many people about the specifics, so it’s a lot less stressful. Hoping for your BFP! Congrats on having so many great eggs to freeze! How many are you planning on transferring?

Qita – seems like some women on here have great dr’s. I’m more in your boat at this time. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice, but it sounds like you are taking charge and doing the best you can. Bravo for that!

Carol – that is horrible what happened to your sister. The worrying never ends!

Kerri- I hear you sister. I’m sorry that your having a hard time with your friend that recently had a baby. It’s okay, we’re not perfect. I hope you don’t feel too guilty about it. Congrats on being PUPO! Are you going to POAS?

Tammy – This is such wonderful news!!! Thank you for being here for me and cheering me on for all the cycles. I know, it’s so crazy. I’m so glad that the HPT is getting darker. This HAS to be it for you. I can’t wait! It must have been because your cat didn’t jump on you this time.

Kimber – I am so sorry. I know words aren’t enough. How are you doing?

Jeib – I’m so very sorry, but I’m still holding out hope for you tomorrow. Lots of negative HPT before blood tests.

Hope – wow, talk about a rollercoaster my friend. The good news is that it is still increasing. I’m sorry I can’t be of much help, but I am going to have everything crossed for Thursday!

Krcaja – I’m so sorry for the uncertainty. I always try to look at things positively, so knowing that you have one strong baby in there is what you should focus on. Love it from the beginning. Seems like it’s too early to tell on the 2nd baby. Maybe a few more days and they will know more? Can you push for another U/S? Maybe think about your questions and write them down? I find that helps. Lots of love to you.

AFM: I am so sorry that I’ve been a horrible board member the last week. I am starting a new position at work and I’m completely overwhelmed. So, time is not on my side! And tying to keep the stress down to go through these treatments is oh so difficult. So, I scheduled my HSG for 2/17…in a few days. I’ll have my checkup on 2/22 and then thinking the IUI will be on 2/23 and 2/24. We will see! I’m really looking forward to the HSG. I hope that I get good results and that the test helps clear things out.

Lots of baby dust to all of you!

Wow, guys! so much is happening!

Leora - congrats on the eggs and what a story to go with it! I like the corsage and the bottle of wine after - very imagine. good for you for going the trouble!

Hope - this is good news! this

Krcaja - so sorry to hear about your U/S. One one hand its great that you saw one baby doing so well. On the other hand you want to see how the twin is doing! Good luck!

Tammy - Congrats! So exciting. Little Zach will have a brother or a sister!

SD - where is our next POAS report? :)

Jkulab - i am sorry you are not seeing your BFP yet. I say yet! because there is still plenty of time to find out you are pregnant.

AFM, I am feeling very crappy and sleepy and tired and low PMA on these progesterone shots. I forgot what a depressing hormone progesterone is :( Boy do i feel down and draggy. i was barely able to get my work done today. I mean - i love you, progesterone, for how you keep my lining thick - thank you, thank you for that! I dont mean to bad mouth you. But the mood and the tiredness and sleepiness is hard to deal with. I havent done the shots until this cycle. i mainly did suppositories before. the shots are way worse - because the progesterone is all over your body and not just near the uterus. Oh and to top it off - i am receiving absolutely no signals from my uterus. i know it is only day 5. and on my last successful FET i didnt start feeling the pulling sensation of implantation until later. But it would be nice to get some sort of sign. Uterus, please be a dear and send me a sign :) Urghhh - this stuff is hard. so hard. i wish there was a little camera they could transfer together with the embryos so you could watch them and know - are they still alive? are they still dividing?

Has anyone else experienced constant gasiness? My stomach has been crampy (maybe baby parts are crampy) and I have been burping a lot. Is it just the progesterone?

Beta is Thursday morning. They will have to call my husband with the results because I doubt they'd leave me a voicemail on my phone, as I have very poor reception where I work. I'd rather hear it from him anyway. Thankfully, he is optimistic. With all these cramps and such, I am feeling a bit more hopeful, but then immediately sign the twinges and cramps off as being due to something else. I have no real symptoms.

Re: Winter 2010-2011 Cycle Board

Post by margi26 »

Quick post tonight ladies...DH and I went out for a belated Valentine’s Dinner and I am pooped tired. I am trying to get more rest as my cycle gets ready to start.

Sherry: Two more sleeps until beta. Hang in there!!Image

Leora: Wonderful # of eggs....woohoo. Poor DH..what a stressful time that must have been. I have told DH it is a good thing roles aren’t reversed in this process--for lots of reasons! Glad you have such a healthy relationship and that you “made” up for things later. Extra points for you!! After ER I am usually zonked.Image

Lyd: Sorry about the side effects...but all for a great cause. Hang in there!! The 2ww can be so challenging. Do your best to pamper yourself and keep up your PMA.

Tammy: Are you still all aglow?! And really gonna make *us* wait until FRIDAY?!?! At least post some sticks for the addicts among us..

Tiger: HSG in 2 days...awesome! Can’t wait to hear how clear you are! This is gonna be a great cycle for both of us..you are absolutely right.

Kristin (Krcaja): So sorry for the conflicting feelings. Hard to celebrate with the uncertainty. I agree with Rio--try to see if you can get another u/s next week.Image

Hope/Ashley: Beta limbo is the worst. I am so sorry--but there is still hope. I have had ectopic and lost a tube, but it was because it took them FOREVER to properly diagnose and treat me--I was 9 weeks. You clearly are on top of things and have a good RE that will monitor your beta levels and symptoms. I am praying so very hard that your next beta JUMPS up and allays your fears and worries--which it sounds like your RE is speculating. This is such a difficult process at every step--a true rollercoaster of emotions. Hold onto the importance of it all when things seem the most difficult--it is to one day hold your baby in your arms. And you will get there. Hoping and praying that it is this cycle.Image

Ryann: Thanks for the dance (love to hear from you!! Hope you are doing well). Please dance a little more if your feet can take it...really wanting AF tomorrow so I can get to stimming!!

Jeib: One more day. Regardless of the outcome you wil be ok. I am sending you tons of PMA and good energy. Image

Sunshine: Keep up the dancing moves...you are doing great and I appreciate it!

Nwquiz: How are things today? When do you go for SnS?

Lou: Glad that you are feeling better. TAKE IT EASY, and as I said before....

AFM: Waiting for AF...hoping tomorrow--BETTER BE BY Thursday or my trip dates may need to be moved which will be a hassle....talked with RE today which was reassuring. He called to check in with me and to answer some questions I had. We won’t be doing PGD, but will be doing ICSI and AH. Now I just gotta get to stimming these follies of mine! Oh, annoyance with my Baby-n-a-Box. Pharmacy called me at 8:20PM to tell me my order won’t be here tomorrow, but rather on Thursday. And, did I need any needles? Ah--kinda important part of INJECTIBLE medications, don’t ya think? (Shouldn’t mess with a woman on Lupron about to start her IVF cycle. BIG mistake.) I am usually quite calm and gentle, but I really let her have it. I didn’t mention that AF hadn’t come and I had another day before I needed them. Told her I needed them tomorrow--as I had told them LAST week.Imageso she is going to make Fed Ex get them here tomorrow by 5pm. And I guess I will have to hit a local pharmacy to find more needles--although I may have enough leftover ones, but they didn’t know that ! Enough with that vent....I need to be calm....happy...centered. Very difficult to maintain when dealing with agencies such as this one. They had absolutely no compassion or understanding regarding how very important timeliness is. BUT--I will get my meds...and get to stimming soon...and go relax in sunny Cali as we “cook” our baby. It is going to be very wonderful....I see acupuncturist tomorrow.....get my hair done next Wednesday...and then get on a plane next Thursday!!! 8)

Re: Winter 2010-2011 Cycle Board

Carol - last night was the last night before I have icky progesterone suppositories (hopefully for then next 10 weeks or so) so I had to make it a good one! My mother takes special joy in embarrassing my teenage siblings. Hopefully I'll get a chance to embarrass my kids as well!

Oh Ashely - I'm so sorry that you are on this crazy ride. Of course, it's a great sign that your beta almost doubled. Hopefully there is still hope for your little one. Definite answers are so much better than beta hell. I hope your next beta helps!

Kristin - YAY! That is so fantastic! Remember that the baby is tiny right now, so measuring a day off is really not a sign of anything. What a fantastic heartbeat! Maybe talk to women on this board named Riogirl71 and Klinger (her real name is Amanda). Both of them are due in July. Rio saw 2 heartbeats, but one stopped and she lost a twin. Amanda saw two sacs, but like you, one was smaller than the other and her twin didn't make it. I hope your twin does have a heartbeat next time, but if not, you can see a site called CLIMB (Center for Loss in Multiple Birth). They have a forum for 'vanishing twins' and ideas about how to cope with losing one, but still carrying the other. When is your next scan?

Tiger- we were given 30-40% odds with IVF as well. I haven't asked about iUI. Wouldn't the odds be much better than regular IUI because donor sperm is "super sperm"? You're right though - going from 30% to 10% odds is really hard....The HSG is really not a big deal in terms of time or pain. I hope things are clear!

LYD - I know how you feel. I started my suppositories today, so no bad side effects yet. I never have any signs or feelings about implantation - and I've gotten pregnant twice! Hopefully you are just not feeling the teeny tiny baby implanting

Sherry - When they call your husband, make sure he asks them for the beta number, so all of us can obsess with you! My husband never remembers to ask for hormone levels when the nurses call him!

SD - my clinic does betas on 17dpo -which I think is really late. You don't want to do it too early though, either. Can you wait until 13-14 dpo? I think that would be best. Sorry your pee stick was still BFN. For the record, I always get BFN on 10dpo, and usually don't get BFP until 13-14dpo!

Margi - The first ER, I was completely wiped out afterwards. Since then, I've been under general anesthesia and additional 4 times (2 ERs, 1 D&C and an emergency surgery to stop a postpartum hemorrhage). Each time I feel better and better when I wake up. Yesterday, I went 'asleep' at around 8:15. I was awake and eating by 9:15. I felt fine enough to drive by 11am. I guess I'm getting 'used to' it! Also, UGH it's such a ***** to make sure you have your meds AND your needles. I hope FedEx gets them to you really fast!

AFM - I'm concerned about my fert report. Of 17 eggs, 14 were mature. Of those 14 that were ICSI'ed, today 7 of them are growing embryos. That's normal for me (first IVF - 18 eggs, 13 mature, day 3 = 6 embryos and second IVF - 14 eggs, 13 mature, day 3 = 8 embryos, day 5 = 3 blasts + 1-12cell (not frozen)) but I'm starting to get concerned that I'm getting so few embryos from my eggs. Are these normal fertilization rates?

What could be causing so few of the eggs to become embryos? I know that PCO can make you have immature eggs - but what makes the ICSI fail so much? We are using DH's sperm - which is a super low count, but motility and morphology seem to be okay. Could there be a problem with my eggs? That is something we never considered, since I'm 24. Now I'm worried that IUI with donor sperm wouldn't' work either because there is something wrong with my eggs. How do you test the eggs?

In a way, I don't care if there are any to freeze, since I *hate* FETs (never ever ever ever work for me!) and can always do another fresh (paid for by the insurance). But I really really really want 2 of those 7 to make it to blasts on Sunday!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand - the 2ww begins! I'm now 1dpo.... can I POAS yet?

good luck to Samantha & JustSoLost on ERs today and Jeib on her beta!
