Hi All - This will be my second treatment (first one fresh this one FET) I want to pose the question to everyone to see what they did for bed rest or not & how long & what the outcome was...I have a few friends who did IVF and each one did bed rest one for five days! UGH! Anyways each one got pregnant with varying degrees of egg quality & some 3 days & some 5 day blasts:
IVF #1 - December 2010
5 Day Blasts
3 Days Bed rest
BFP (MC at 6 weeks)
Thanks all appreciate the input I know all medical journals say bed rest not needed but there has to be something to it since it seems like those (at least in my life) who bed rest seem to get BFP's so I was just wondering what the stats on this board were.
Thanks Guys!
Me: Kt-42 - DH: Louie-50
TTC: 7 years - IUI X 5 - IVF X 2 (1-DE) - FET X 1 - MC x 6
my RE recommends 3 days bed rest after FET and after fresh cycles...
They have some of the highest statistics in the country (except for me bringing it down sometimes... ) ... So I trust him and would stay in bed if possible those 3 days...
I think most literature doesn't support that... so I guess it's up to each dr and each pt...
Best of luck... it's almost there!!!
Married 10+ years
TTC 6+ years
fresh IVF's x5... all bfn...
First FET... WOW. First ever BFP!!!
Miracles happen everyday... we just have to keep the faith and wait for ours...
Praying and hoping everyone's dreams and wishes come true!!!
Multiple studies have found extended bed rest to be no benefit to IVF success.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
My clinic recommends bed rest just for the rest of the day of ET. I had ET on Monday morning, rested, then went back to work on Tuesday. Worked for me!
Lou--- 1 beautiful baby girl from a single 8 cell embie in Sept 2011

My doctor requires 3 days bedrest. I did it every time, got pregnant a few times(miscarriages--one success) and other times I did not. I don't think there is any research suggesting that it makes a difference, but I was too afraid not to follow what the doc said! Good luck to you!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
My clinic says just to take it easy for the day of ET especially and then semi-easy for the few days after that, but doesn't recommend bed rest as such. No heavy lifting or anything which raises the heart rate, but no specific restrictions other than that. I too was a bit confused about what to do and looked into it a bit. Different studies/research seem to conclude different things - I even found a couple of studies which suggested that being gently active and moving around keeps the blood flowing around the uterus, which actually increases the chances of implantation. As with a lot of things in the crazy world of IVF (acupuncture, bed rest, diet etc) there seem to be no conclusive rights or wrongs and you just have to do what you feel is right for you. In the end I sat on the sofa and put my feet up on the day of transfer both times, then just pottered around the house the day after. BFN the first time, BFP the second, so who knows!!

Katie,
In my cycles, I never bed rested. That said, I seriously chilled as a couch potato post ET until the next day where I went to my desk job and did the minimal amount of moving around, and headed home to chill as soon I could. I did spend a lot of time visualizing and checking in with my body to release all tension. Mostly to keep myself sane
Did you decide to bedrest?

Me: 37 DH:40 TTC since 2005. First IVF cycle canceled. 2nd cycle BFP 1/11. DS arrived late 2008. 3rd cycle, U/s 3/7. Devastated. NO fetal pole or HB.
I have done 8 IVF cycles and all of them I did 2 days of bedrest with no lifting for 5 days. As you can see in my signature, the results are all over the place. There is no evidence that bedrest will do anything, but what is it going to hurt? I personally look forward to a day or two of movies! But five days.... I think I'd go crazy!
Me 32 DH 31
DS 3rd try
8 failed cycles
No luck with adoption
DS 7/23/14 IUI after Celiac diagnosis

For sure you have a nice sofa... You'll feel comfortable with it.
IVF # 1 – 3 days bed rest = BFP w/ twins – miscarriage at 6 ½ weeks and stillbirth 21 weeks.
FET # 1 – BFN – no bed rest
IVF # 2 – 4 days bed rest = BFP – daughter born Dec. 7, 2010
I know that there is a controversy regarding bed rest versus no bed rest but my opinion is … if you can take time for bed rest, I think that you should because that way you will never question “what if” no matter how your beta turns out. But, if you cannot take time off then just take it easy as much as possible. I wish you all the luck in the world!!!!
