Help with Stims dosage please!

Post by Kel »

Hi Girls,
I'm really worried as I've just found out from my day 5 blood test I need to up my stims dosage to 5 amps of menopur instead of 3...

Just really desperate to know if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them and then gone onto EC ok? I am so upset, as the colsultant told me orignally he thought I would respond really well so I did not expect this...

Really hope someone can help as I feel it's come crashing down today..

Thanks Loads,
Kel x

Hi Kel,

I did not use menopur, I was injecting gonal-f. I just wanted to let you know I was not responding as expected and they increased my dose of gonal-f for the last 5 days and I had 5 eggs collected and 2 were replaced. I recieved my positive pregnancy result last monday.

They said I started on a lower dose (although I did not know this at the time) because I was younger (28) and they did not want me to over stimulate. It may be that they did the same for you. I don't think you should worry about it. Take it easy and produce lots of lovely eggs.

Best wishes
Shellie

Thanks for your replies girls x
Shellie - that has really helped as I am also 28 so hopefully that is the same reason.. I'll try to be more positive now, although I wasn't really prepared for this, I think I was more expecting to go the other way!
Thanks again,

Kel,

I was also taking Gonal F and Repronex but had a similar problem. They started me out on a fairly conservative dosage due to my age (34) and low weight. When I went in for my first bloodwork, my estrogen was supposed to be up to at least 200 but it was only around 50! They said they were quite shocked that I didn't seem to be responding to that dose and actually even insinuated that DH was making a mistake and not giving me the proper amount (he was). They also mentioned they might have had me downreg for too long. At any rate, they doubled my dose of everything (which caused me to panic). After that, my numbers started shooting right up (sometimes tripling within 2 days). The night before the EC they actually had to cut my dose down to barely nothing because my levels were getting a little too high. They retrieved 17 eggs.

So, I would say don't worry. I was really upset at the time but many people on the boards reassured me that this sort of thing is very common and that things would likely get back on track. They were right. I bet your levels will be right up there the next time you go in.

Thanks Staci - I have been on a long down reg too so that could be a cause... Just hoping it gets going now! Really annoying...

Hi Kel, I had the same thing first time round. I was on Puregon and at my scan 2 days before EC they could see I hadn't responded strongly enough and had to up my dose PLUS move the dates back two days. EC and ET went well - 9 follies, 9 eggs, 6 fertilised, 2 put back - 9m later, my daughter was born. I even had 4 to freeze.

I think it's quite common, esp. first time round.

Try not to worry.
love
Debra.
