Hi girls,
Here I am again with a question about contractions, living proof that one is not paranoid only in early pregnancy - I manage to keep it up! I am now getting several contractions almost every night just as I am drifting off to sleep - it jolts me awake like anything! Has anyone had this or know anything about it? Thankfully they stop after a while although I cannot sleep for hours afterwards...
love to all,
juliana
By the sound of it they are Braxton hicks - I don't really get them at all - suppose I do but only the babies feel them - I have had a couple but maybe not them at all!!! I remember Jules saying she did not have them.
It is your body preparing for the birth - don't worry

Tracey is right it is the braxton hicks. I have been having them for a few weeks now and they are getting stronger and can be a bit painful sometimes and it doesn't help when baby is kicking my ribs in at the same time. Told my midwife last week and it is all normal a good sign your body is preparing for birth. Baby is also head down but i assume that it can still turn. I have been looking in books to see if it is to early for it to stay that way. Tracey do you know?
I am going to start to wash all the clothes etc tomorrow but keep hearing of people having large babies i have bought mostly newborn stuff (not alot mind you) which goes up to 10lb. Should i wait until nearer the time to see if the midwife can tell if it is going to be big. I also had some sugar in my urine last week and keep reading about diabetes which can cause you to have big babies.
Any thoughts?

I.V.F started in 2001. 1st cycle +ve mc nov 2001 at 12 weeks. Fet mar 2002 +ve then -ve.
2nd cycle +ve eptopic oct 2002 6 weeks.
fet mar 2003 -ve. 3rd cycle over stimulated embies frozen. Fet nov 2003 +ve due 11/8/04.
It does sound like Braxton Hicks and it's giving you a taste of what's to come! Try not to worry - they are a good thing. I got then from really quite early on and was told it was a healthy sign of plenty of oxygen getting to the uterus. Apparently, you can having 'contractions' every 20 mins or so, but a lot of people don't feel this!
Hope all goes well
Zoe
P.S. Helen - most babies that are head down later on do stay there, but unfortunately, they can still turn. This happened to a friend of mine - her son turned very late...don't worry though, everything will be fine. Take care..
So many questions - brain ache for me Re the head - Zoe is right - I have one head down and the other breach but they have been like this ages and they think the head down will def stay that way and the other might manage transverse but probably stay breach but this is twins and less room to move. You can have movement up to 36 weeks with one and can keep turning but if he is comfy and he is a bloke he might just lounge around where he is!
I did all the sheets yesterday and ironed around 30 baby grows and sleep suits and vests - yikes! I have bought some new baby and tiny baby but then with twins................ RE the protein don't worry Helen too much - does not nec mean diabetes - could be you have got some discharge in your sample by mistake (sorry) or any number of reasons! Have you asked the size of the baby at your scan - they can normally tell you! Mine were 3lb each last time at 28/9 wks so just ahead of singleton at that stage! I would get newborn stuff and then 0-3 months as you are likelier to have a larger baby than us twinny mums and they grow so quickly.
Take care

Hi
I have also ironed baby grows - is this not normal!!!!! will I stop as soon as they get here??
Midwife came round this morning to give my last Anti D injection and we went through my birth plan. Going to try to deliver and hope that twin 2 transverse will follow twin 1 once s/he is out.
We discussed the pains in my hips/legs and the burning and grinding sensation on my bikini line - and its all normal!!!! Just getting prepared for birth.
Yeh yeh ok you two - thanks Lisa! I only ironed this time so there is once when they are clean and ironed - never see that again even if I was having one - they will only puke down them.
Lisa they won't wear them long enough after anyway - sod the ironing after birth - we have also bought a tumble dryer so that should help yeh?
Lisa - not long - yikes!

Thanks Zoe and Tracey i am hoping that he will stay that way.
Tracey i don't get anymore scans unless i am overdue, well as far as i know but he is a good size.
I too was going to iron baby grows once i had washed them but don't think i will bother now (any excuse i hate ironing). Dh says its like a chinese laundry it takes six weeks to get a shirt back.
Feet look like those characters off of lord of the rings, horrible even my slippers are getting tight. Can't wear any of my rings now so they are tied around my neck. But at least i have a tan line where they were.

Helen know what you mean about hobbit feet - yuk!!! At least my ears haven't swollen up yet!
I have just washed 18 sheets - baby and moses baskets - honestly and yesterday did all the adult ironing - ie DH's shirts as he won't fit into a Humphrey baby gro!
I am lucky so far that even in this weather I can wear my rings still - well my russian wedding ring given to me for my 18th birthday on my right hand and my wedding ring and engagement.

Hey girls, this ironing thing has got to stop! I'm sorry but you have no time (or inclination) for ironing once there are small children around so you really need to wean yourselves off it now so that you don't have to go cold turkey once baby/babies arrive!

Hi everyone, thanks for the reassurance, I am a bit less nervous about these contractions now, always good to know someone else's had them. As for the ironing, I am with Jules, seems like agood idea but when you imagine all the other work you would have maybe one has to decide not to do it. my dp thinks the drier disinfects the clothes enough...anyway I have bought nothing yet, a bit suprestitious to do it at 22 weeks, so still nothing to iron (but i got some stuff from my sister in law).
Tracey, your babies seem an excellent size, I keep worrying about whether mine will be big enough, must try more choclolate to get mine as big as yours!
by the way yesterday it was desperately hot here, i found it quite difficult with my legs swelling immediatly. i was lucky i had to teach in another location where they had airconditioning so it was great to be out of the heat for a while. I am very cautious about the sun, coming from a country where it gets very hot and stays hot in the summer we seek the shade...
love to all,
juliana
Don't worry - can quite easily go cold turkey on the ironing!!! Just wanted to see them ironed the once! Anyway was not going to wash and iron at all until you and Nikola suggested I should wash the flaming things! As if life is not hard enough!!! More choccie please!

How are you and your babies doing?!
I've been getting a really tight feeling across my bump (usually in the evening) and it feels like a spot that needs to be popped!!!! I've also found that my bump looks bigger in the evening!
i saw the baby move today, it was really weird seeing my tummy move - like a little alien!
How are you finding the clothes situation now? I think it's aa bit easier now I've got a bump to hold things up!!! Have you put on much weight? I think i've put on 3kgs so far (am only 5ft 2 so can't afford the 2 stone average as I'd probably topple over)
