HI Everyone,
I too would love to join all of you.

A little background:
I am 37 and my hubby is 42. We have been TTC for over 5 years. In 2007 I had an ectopic pregnancy (first and only pregnancy-natural) and was treated with Methotrexate.

I then went on to have Laparoscopy surgery to cut and cauterize the tube that had the ectopic since it had hydrosalopinx and was severely damaged and supposedly unblock my other tube that was blocked with scar tissue.

I then went on to have 4 failed IUI's using injectables and now to my first IVF.

Feb 11 Novarel shot
Feb 13 – Egg Retrieval
Retrieved 15 eggs
14 matured / 10 fertilized
2 good embryos to transfer. possible 3 to freeze

Feb 18: Day 5 Embryo Transfer
2 embryos transferred

My beta is March 3 which seems so long away. I have absolutely no symptoms at all. I have been POAS since the day before my ET to see if the Novarel is still in my system and I have been getting faint line ever since so I guess it’s still in there. I will test again tomorrow and hopefully it will be gone or get darker ;)

I hope all of your dreams come true!

ckret01 and Erin- welcome!

Indigo- I appreciated your rant and information on home births. I can only speak for myself, but I love your passion and the information. This board is all about sharing good positive mental attitude and support and I don't think there is a thing wrong with looking forward past our BFPs a little bit and talking about birthing! :D I am really jealous of your access to care and your profession. I live in such a rural area and have a lot of research to do about the one or two midwives in the area, insurance coverage, etc. before moving forward. However I can't imagine having a baby in a hospital! I hope it works out. I think your point about ART pregnancies being even more important to de-pathologize is right on. Thanks for sharing. I take it you decided against the Beta today?

Crissylove- I love your new ticker!!! Brought tears to my eyes! (third time today I have cried, I am really emotional this cycle and haven't even started progesterone).

AFM- trigger tonight at 9:30 and ER is Monday morning at 9:00. We live three and a half hours away from our clinic so we will be traveling down tomorrow night. Getting nervous about going to blast for the first time, the quality and number of mature eggs, etc. Mostly just excited to take the next step! :)

Dear Wehavehope,

I had severe OHSS in Aug after my IVF. I gained 9 lbs in less than a week. I too felt awful awful.. I had fluid drained twice and felt immediate relief. It only hurts for the few moments that they poke their way into the abdomen. They drained 2 litres the first time and 1.5 litres 5 days later. I only drank gatorade and craved salt. Take care... It will get better!

Nicole,
Did you have to be hospitalized or was it done on an outpatient basis? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Erin- Welcome! You really have been stuck on a roller coaster this week, haven't you? I'm glad that they at least managed to get you a few embryos with the ICSI. Looks like you and I are on the same schedule. I had my ER on thursday as well, although my clinic doesn't do 3 day transfers so I am definitely waiting until tuesday for my ET. I am also still having some cramping, but this time around I haven't had the weight gain or "fluffiness" that you describe. That generally comes for people that had lots of eggs retrieved (I only had 3). The more eggs, the greater chance of getting OHSS. Drink lots of Gatorade and rest. Feel better soon and keep us updated!

Bliss- Good luck tomorrow! Can't wait to hear how the ER goes!

Kyleen: The pain you describe sounds like it could either be the ovaries...still swollen and sore. Or even round ligament pain. I had round ligament pain fairly early in my pregnance, although I don't remember exactly when. It mostly went away during the second trimester. However, sometimes I would move suddenly and it hurt like you wouldn't believe, and I'd worry that I really did something wrong. It turned out alright though. I believe what you are experiencing could be completely harmless. I have never had an ectopic though. I'm sure your clinic should be able to tell you if it's normal, if you are very concerned, you should call them. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

Erin: I work with a man whose sperm could not fertilize his wife's egg, much like your issue. They underwent IVF w/ICSI and had twin boys. Then, they turned into the urban legend that we all hear about...a year after the boys were born, bam, they were surprised to find out she was pregnant again. She had a little girl about 2 years after the boys. Hopefully, this cycle is a BFP for you.

Hi ladies,
I am just laying here feeling miserable. I had to call a close feiend today to help me. She did not know what was going on and I had to tell her. I have been trying to keep it from everyone. Only because I hate to feel obligated to answer so many questions people have. And they don't do it on purpose but people tend to ask alot of questions and want to know whats going on every step of thr process. For me it's hard to deal with what we are going through and then be emotionally available for everyone else. It sound terrible, I know but I figured I would be better off just keeping it a secret. Well, that in itself has been very hard on me. I really haven't had anyone to share my concerns with, or my desires, my fears, etc... My hubby has been great but he has had it very tough as well. I haven't exactly been myself lately. So today, I broke down, I called my friend because I haven't had a BM in 4 days in addition to being bloated beyond belief and possibly developing OHSS. I went ahead and told her what was going on. She was very supportive and I just could not help myself. I cried like a baby. Secrets are needed sometimes but sometimes you just need someone to vent and share things with. I am glad I was able to do that today. Although I don't feel better physically, I feel a bit better emotionally.

wehavehope- glad you were able to connect with your friend for emotional support. It is such a hard choice to make, telling versus not telling. Glad you are feeling better emotionally and I hope you will be MUCH better soon physically.

Kyleen- It is definitely too early to get down about a negative HPT. Keep your chin up!

Thanks everyone, for all the great advice! DH went out immediately and bought several bottles of Gatorade - here's a toast to feeling better soon!

We went out for dinner tonight, but man, I'm having the hardest time getting any of my pants buttoned...not even my "fat" pants fit - which is so not a good sign. I'm also having some shortness of breath - winded getting up my stairs to my bedroom...so, I'm going to go drink some Gatorade now and put my feet up. If things don't improve by tomorrow, I'll be calling my doc again.

I'm also incredibly constipated (like many of you, I'm reading), which I'm sure isn't helping the bloated feeling. DH asked where it hurt and I laughed, used one hand to level off at my chin, and the other one right around my knees - and told him to pick a spot anywhere in between. I seriously feel like I entered and won the Nathan's hot dog eating championship - that's how gigantic I feel. Ugh.

Wehavehope: I really hope you're feeling better soon. I know it's hard to share this with anyone else - as I'm in the same boat there. Just too many questions I don't want to answer - but mostly, it's the look they give...the look as if they're saying "oh poor thing!" - which I absolutely detest! I'm not poor, and I'm so not a thing! So, we've kept this to ourselves - and only here am I able to talk about any of it. I'm sending thoughts your way, that your pain will be alleviated soon.

Kyleen81: Keep your hopes up! It's only day 6 - and I know what it's like to want to POAS right away! :) Just a few more days...you can do it!

MamaBoo: Thanks for sharing your friends story! My husband likes to think my eggs are as stubborn as I am...enter eye roll here. Twin boys? At this point, as long as everyone is healthy, that's all I care about!

Cwehrs: Oh, we are indeed on the same schedule! I highly doubt they'll day a day 3 for me - as they've always talked about day 5...but, we shall see. Please keep me posted for sure!

Everyone else - thanks again for the warm welcome, advice, and compassionate ear! Wishing everyone the best of luck with whatever is to come...I'm off to drink some Gatorade. :)

WeHaveHope:

Both were done with on an outpatient basis... It took about 1.5 hrs. They use ultrasound to find the spot to poke you. They can freeze the first layers of tissue but when they poke through the last wall, ouch! The 2nd time was easier...

Kyleen: At about 6 weeks after a BFP, I had severe pain that came and went from one side, near the ovary. I went to see the RE and he didn't know. It would get better after I took some extra-strength tylenol, but there was one night where I almost went to the hospital cuz it hurt so bad, it was like I couldn't breathe... The pain last one week off and one...

good luck to both of you!
