indigo- you may simply be the single most positive and resilient person I have ever seen on this board. Good for you and the PMA. I think it does help to have such a GREAT plan B waiting for you, and I think it makes a lot of sense to move forward very positively onto the next stage. What a blessing that you have such a wonderful donor supporting you. I will keep you and DH in my thoughts. It is really a blessing that DH is supportive of a donor, I am sure he is disappointed but its terrific that you two had already prepared and discussed for that potential outcome which I am sure makes moving forward with gusto much easier for you both. Glad to continue cycling with you!

And yes- I think the ladies on this thread are beating the stats with OHSS. I think 2% is the number I have seen. Hopefully we will exceed the pregnancy rates as significantly! :D

ckret-so sorry for the chemical. I had a chemical the first time with IVF and know how disappointing it is. If our friend SDTrying were checking in with us instead of hanging out post BFP in Hawaii she would tell you that when she had her chemical one of her dear friends on the board told her that was good news and indicated she has a "hospitable" uterus. :D Good luck with next steps and keep us posted. Lifting you up in our thoughts and prayers.

(Kidding SD- we know you are checking in on us)

timber5k- congrats on the beta and welcome! Hope you feel better soon.

Erin- My DH will be in Vegas from the 14th through the morning of the 17th for a work conference. I am soooooo jealous that he is going during the tourney on the company tab. We have wanted to go for the past several years during March Madness and couldn't make it happen. You know what he looks like from a side profile from my signature, so if you see him be sure to introduce yourself. I have my first beta on the 14th while he is there, so will be taking a HPT the day before. I am counting on GREAT luck to start off a lucky week in Vegas for him. Small world...

AFM- anxiously waiting a new report on the embies. I think they only update every couple of days and will be doing so tomorrow as well as calling me to schedule for the transfer on Saturday. Had my last accupuncture appointment prior to transfer today and feel great except for the requisite anxiety. For those of you that go to blast- how often does your clinic update you on progress? Mine basically said no news today is good news.

FYI- my acupuncturist is traveling down with DH and me Friday night. It going to be really weird to have someone else go through this with us this time but I am really excited about it. She is pregnant and in her 2nd trimester so I am counting on her baby dust helping as well. She is really excited as this will be her first time visiting a clinic. Adds kind of a fun element to the whole experience.

indigo- So glad that you have a great plan B. I really hope that your FET works out and you still can get a BFP this month!

Blissful- As far as updates go, I got my initial fertilization report, a day three update, and that was it. I was told that the embryos are really delicate from day 3-5 so they don't mess with them again until just before transfer. I don't know if that's the same with all clinics though.

AFM- Spent the day in bed yesterday crying, and drank a whole bottle of wine by myself last night (not very productive, I know, but what the hell). This morning I had a GIANT cup of coffee, and I just got back from the hairdresser where I got a sexy new haircolor (chestnut brown with lovely red highlights)/haircut. I must say I feel much better. I don't know where we will go from here, but somehow I WILL be a mommy someday.

Blissful - actually my husband couldn't care less whose sperm it is. He has two boys from his first marriage (biological) and we adopted our daughter together and he says genetics mean nothing to him because our daughter is just as much our daughter as his boys are. It was me that wanted to try one last time with his 'sick' sperm for the romantic notion of having his baby. I'm kind of kicking myself that we didn't just do all donor and maybe had more...but then if I did that I'd be kicking myself wondering if his could've made a baby. Now I know, there's no point in trying anymore with DH's. As for reports from my clinic I got day after ER, day 3 for transfer and then not again til day 5 and freezing. Apparently embryos don't like light much so they try to look at them as little as possible.

cwehrs - oh man I wish I could've joined you with that bottle of wine. I so love a good bottle of wine, but unfortunately with my job I'm always on call so I can't enjoy a bottle...a glass now and then, but never a bottle. That will change when I'm finally a midwife and I'll have forced off call time. Right now I have NO off call time. Again, so sorry for your loss. What are your next steps?

WE-Totally see your point. That's admirable that you guys are going for #4. I'll be praying for your first time to be your success and that you get what you want. My situation is such that I already have a child from a previous relationship, and my current DH and me have none together. I chose to put back 3 b/c I knew the likelihood of me giving another fresh IVF a try anytime in the near future is slim to none since I'm self-pay and I'm on borrowed time with a currently fibroid free uterus. I had a myomectomy to remove 7 fibroids back on 10/15/10. In the past they've returned fairly quickly. I'm happy that I did end up with one to freeze so that I could give a frozen cycle a try if needed. Like Blair I wanted to give myself they best shot at bringing home a baby for my DH. He loves my son like his own, but it would be nice to share a child with him. Again, I hope it works out however you decide is best.

Blair-I root for SEC teams too. I do root for UK when they're not playing us since Brandon Knight is my homie. FYI- I went through Alexander Twin Pharmacy in NJ, they were far more competitive on price than anyone else not outside US, and I didn't trust that.

Erin-Going to MM would be awesome!! Hope u get to go with BFP. I ate the pineapple core. That's what I read all over the internet, but they said don't eat to much. So I ate when I thought implantation was happening then like every other day. Hope OHSS improves but if you get BFP it'll prob come back cuz my Dr said the HCG from pregnancy is like adding wood to fire. Shyte!!

TIMBER-Nice to have your company over on "beautiful babies", I soooo hope e'one else comes over soon. Sorry about your OHSS. I didn't know they could drain you while ur preggo. Since I'm not dealing with breathing issues I guess that's why they didn't offer it to me. The pain was so bad this morn that I had to go back to doc, and they did off to admit me overnight for observation but I declined. Going to try n ride it out at home. Good luck on Beta #2. Keep us posted.

INDY-I'm soooo excited that you are giving it another try. I'm ur biggest fan. You have a really interesting situation and sound like DH and DF (doner friend) two good men. That's awesome ur hubby was all for it.

Cekrt-Many hugs from me to. My heart goes out. I've struggled with fertility too bcuz of the stupid fibroids as u read above. I highly recommend if you're gonna continue on this journey to follow doc advice if they r what might have gotten in way. I did assisted robotic laproscopic myomectomy in Oct. After having had the traditional method and the robotic method I would tell you hands down to opt for the ladder. It's less invasive and the recovery time is 2 wks vs 6wks. That means you can jump right back in the fight a lot quicker! Good luck whatever happens and keep us posted.

BLISS_I think no news really is good news. I didn't find out until day 3 when I went in for trans that we would go to day 5 bcuz they all we're still in the game. Anything worth having...
And as far as the acupuncturist going that's tremendous. My clinic wouldn't allow it so I had to go the day b/f and the day after instead. Either way it's worth it cuz it relaxes you. I took the IVF meditation cd with me to listen to during my hour on the table. F's X'd and excited for you to get to the 2ww.

Cwehrs-Glad u had some "you" time and took care of your self. With ur attitude you indeed WILL get ur hearts desire. Believe in miracles.

AFM-since I got home I've started to feel better already. Hope trend continues. I'm home from work now almost 3 wks. I went back on Monday, but since the Emergency Room visit doc wants to keep my on best rest thru wk end. Tehee. Hey, milking every last minute.

Indigo- What do you do right now that you have NO off call time? That really has to suck. As for our next steps, we really don't know. Our insurance benefit for infertility is used up, so whatever we do is going to have to be self-pay. I know we won't be doing any more IVF with my eggs. No way am I putting myself through that again. But whether we are going to go with donor eggs, adopting embryos, or just traditional adoption I don't yet know. There are pros and cons to each. Regardless, it will be a little while before we can do anything. We don't really have the financial resources to jump in right now. But that's ok. It gives us a chance to grieve the loss of the dream of having our own biological child. My initial inclination is embryo adoption, though. That way I still have the opportunity to be pregnant. We'll see. It will all work out in the end.

Cwhers - I'm a doula right now. I coach women through birth and all of the options they have surrounding it. I know considering what I'm going through I'm crazy. But I LOVE my job and I love being a part of 182 births to date. Although I have 2 clients who are in prelabour right now so might be more by tomorrow.

As for embryo donation we are on a list at our old clinic that is getting a program up and running. If our FET doesn't work out, that will be our next option I think.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to check in with everyone. The thread has been quite busy. First, I wanted to thank everyone for your stories, imput, and continued support. I also wanted to extend my love to those ladies who are going through difficult times. As for myself, I am feeling a bit better from the OHSS. I agree about the 2%. That 2% must all be members of this thread. I guess I was one of those unlucky ones. I have lost 4.5 pounds in last few days. My left ovary finally decided to settle into it's rightful place. Can you believe it, I actually felt it move down. It had been floating way up in my abdomen for days. What a relief! But last night I ended up with the mother of all migrain headaches. I guess all the body changes triggered it. I had nothing to take for it so I suffered with it all night and woke up the same way this morning. I'm a nurse so the doctor I work with was able to give me some migrain medication which was a God send. On another note, I am still waiting for word from my RE on the exact date of my ET. Still nervous but feeling a bit more peaceful today. Sending lots of love, peace, and hugs to all.

Ckret- I am so sorry. I know its so disappointing to see a positive HPT and then end up with a low beta. We had a chemical with our firsts fresh IVF, started out at 32, then 8 and of course it kept dropping. Keep your head up- we are here if you need to talk.

Bliss- I think when our embryos were going to day 5 we got the report the day after retrieval, then one the day of the 3dt, and then the final update once they were all frozen. I agree that no news is good news. Getting excited for you !!

Cwehrs- I think that enjoying a bottle of wine is a good thing. I know I enjoyed a beer or two after we miscarried last time…just because I could. Try to stay positive and know you will be a mommy someday. Don’t give up!!

Crissy- I haven’t used that pharmacy but I have used Freedom Fertility in the past and they aren’t too bad. I also used Ascend at one point, and they have better prices on some of my meds but you have to pay for shipping there which was a hassle since I use my HAS for meds and had to use a VISA for shipping. I just decided its easier to have them all in the same place and went with freedom since they do overnight shipping for free. If you and Brandon Knight are close…can you convince him that he should stay on the team a few years instead of leaving for the NBA? We’d really appreciate it.

Indigo- Wow that will be a quick turn around. Im glad you had a backup plan in place and things are going to work out for you all afterall. We may end up in the 2ww together if things go ok with me.

WeHaveHope- The transfer will be here before you know it. Its hard to believe that tomorrow is already March 3!!!

AFM- So I ended up taking a trip to my regular OBGYN today. The past few days I was feeling pretty uncomfortable and had abdominal bloating (and it hurt during “the deed”). So I called and got an appt…boy do I remember why I hate going to the regular OBGYN. The waiting room was full of pregnant girls/women….just a reminder that im still waiting. Then the NP who saw me was also expecting and I had to explain that I was nervous something was wrong and am supposed to start meds for IVF #4 Sunday. Good news- the US showed some follicles so she thinks it was just ovulation pain. I don’t know why im one of the lucky one who can tell when Im ovulating but it sucks. Just hoping that us not following RE rules about wearing a condom until I start Lupron is ok. Chances of us getting pregnant naturally are close to zero so im not too worried.

Thanks Ladies - I didn't get much sleep last night. Between this and totally bombing my Java final yesterday, i had too much crap running through my head. Currently my clinic is waiting for my CGH results and to see if i have some blasts today before they will schedule. I am just sitting on the edge of my seat.

I had to drive an hour away to find out if my embies were even gonna be transferred at all that day, (and of course they weren't) only to end up waiting it out another 2 days to drive back and see if any made it til the end. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment. Geesh! Hang in there girl!
