I had a BFP on test taken on 02-26-10 and of course I'm thrilled! My FET 5 day blast transfer was on 02-16-10. My Beta was about 460. Is it suggestive of a singleton or could it be twins?
Thanks for your help!
Nancy
hi there, i think ghost is mostly on the ivf board.... from my own research, that baseline # could be either, but it's the doubling times that more likely would indicate multiples, as the doubling times tend to be faster when it's twins... i had a singleton pg where the baseline beta was 431, at around the same dpo.. but more importantly, a strong initial beta indicates a pregnancy that's already growing well- and that's great news!
38 yrs. DOR, TTC since '04, recommended DE but didn't listen 3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)

nancy -- My beta a day sooner than yours was 290 and about 800 3 days later meaning on 15dpo when your beta was done, mine would have been 440-450. And I only have one growing. You definitely have a strong pregnancy growing whether it's one or two. If your beta doubling time is much quicker than 48 hrs, then you've probably got twins. Are you having a second beta? When is your u/s? Are you hoping for twins? In my case, I was not. I only had one to transfer so twins would only be possible if it split.

Nancy I agree with the other girls its really hard if not impossible to tell by beta. My beta at 14 dpo was 247 and at 16 dpo was 725 with a doubling time of 30/31 hours and I am having a singleton. I think only an ultrasound can tell for sure.
Good luck

As to the question whether I am hoping for a singleton or twins, it's a really difficult question to answer.
We all pray here to get pregnant period and know what a blessing that is. It would be selfish for me to want one or the other. And God knows so many things can happen between now and November. The loss of one of my twins at 6 weeks is still fresh in my mind.
To be practical though, he are my thoughts. Having a singleton would be ideal because:
1- at 41, it would give me a greater chance to have a successful pregnancy
2- with a 16 month old baby to care for, it would make things easier on my body
3- it would make it easier for me to work
But again, I will be grateful for whatever I get. I am now awaiting anxiouslyfor my 6 week ultrasound and just waiting impatiently to see a heartbeat!
