Just Like Hannah - hi! We were together on the April 2011 babies until I miscarried in September. How awesome to be back on the 'other side' with you again! Congrats on the boy/girl twins - you look awesome!

Lou - I want maternity pants already and I'm not even 5 weeks yet! They are just so comfy! :D I say totally go for it. Elastic waist jeans are the best things in the world!

Ashley (Hope is all I have) - what an asshole NP! I'm so glad that everything is going so great for you! You had a scary start, so glad things are working out soooo well!

Mellow - you should definitely call your OB and tell her/him that you passed out. Maybe you were just dehydrated or low blood sugar, but I think you should get checked out. Feel good hon!

Karen - I also can't wait to get bigger (well... more like 'start showing' for me!) Congrats on reaching 12 weeks!

Happy Bunny - from what I've heard - the worrying NEVER ends! Oh well, guess this is what 'mommyhood' means!

Lost girl - Hi! I'm sure things are fine. We all worry about what happens if the next u/s is not good -but odds are WAY on your side for having a healthy baby in October!

AFM - wow have the 'queasy's gotten to me. No real puking yet, but super SUPER nauseous. Oh well -I was hoping I could skip the severe morning sickness/ HG that I've had the other two pregnancies. Guess not! The puking usually starts around 5-5.5 weeks -- so a few more days of eating for me! At least I still have an appetite for now - but my stomach keeps telling me that if I eat that, it'll revolt. UGH. David is getting annoyed already - I understand that it's reallyhard to have a picky, pukey wife. But we are both SUPER excited! We are trying so hard to be optimistic. We really need this to be our rainbow baby - we've been through too much sh*t. Time for *something* to work out.....

also - of course I have the worst luck. I have a super stable job for YEARS and then get laid off in the middle of a IVF cycle. Since I wasn't feeling optimistic about the cycle, we kept going even though I was unemployed. Now I'm pregnant and job searching. UGH! I really need to find a job - FAST! So much for my plans of waiting until I found a really good job (I wasn't so happy at the last one, it was just 'work'), but now I need whatever comes first! Oh well --- babies are more important that work. One little bit of good luck is that DH got promoted the same week I got laid off - and between that and my severance pay things should be okay for a little while. My big fear is not finding a job before June, and then never being hired because of the pregnant belly. I'm overweight, so I can hide a little bit, but not forever!

Leora - this WILL be your rainbow baby! I am so excited for you and for us to be in this journey together! I still haven't experienced the extreme nausea.. usually just early mornings when my empty stomach wakes me up to eat something. And then once in a while during the day. It's okay, I'm not complaining, I guess it could be a lot worse. Good luck with the job search! With your awesome, people-person personality, who wouldn't want you? :)

AFM - A new symptom just started for me today. I've started having sacrum pains. Isn't it a tad bit early for that? It's a sharp pain that comes and goes every few minutes. Weird. DH and I are going to catch a late night movie tonight (The Adjustment Bureau @ 10:30). I hope I do not fall asleep in the theaters! I did not exactly have an afternoon nap today that I desperately require every day. The tickets are already purchased, so hopefully I can stay up. Look @ me.. being all daring and adventurous! lol.

Btw, I finally told my parents last night (they're still in India) that we're indeed pregnant. We really wanted to wait and tell them in person when they arrive back in the states on the 22nd, but they had been so worried about me. They were out there consulting all doctors (even the doctor who delivered me 28 years ago) and insisted I speak with her on the phone about my situation. They were making plans for me to go to India for further treatments. It was getting a bit out of hand, so I decided to break the news to them last night and omg, my mom was so happy and excited for me. She wished that she could just see me and hug me at that exact moment. She was even more elated this time than when I had told her my first beta 3 weeks ago. Oh, I just love my parents sooo much! :D

Welcome and congratulations to all of the newly expectant mommas!
I feel like I haven't been on in sooo long.

Stephanie: My boys turn constantly, one week they're breech the next both vertex and right now I have one of each. You just never know! Did you ask your OB about checking your cervix?

Mellow: I'm so glad you didn't totally pass out. How scary!

AFM: We had my baby shower yesterday which was incredible! Now I need to go shopping for the rest of the things that we need. Our nursery is
almost complete, I need to order a chair and we're waiting on the crib skirts, oh, and the babies.
I have horribly swollen ankles this week, probably too much running around.
Had an ultrasound and cervix check on Wednesday my cervix is still shortening and as soon as I reach anything less than 3 its permanant bed rest for me, I'm guessing within a week or two. The babies weighed 1lb. 8 oz. and 1 lb. 10 oz., growing great! I'm able to slow the
contractions down with meds, thank god!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Wow, don't get on for a week and I miss a lot! It's hard to keep up with everyone, I'm going to have to get on here more often. Hopefully I can now that things at work are calming down.
Thursday I came home to find that my husband had set up the crib (which I didn't know had come in) and put the crib set on it and set up the rocking chair. I cried. It makes it so real to see where our little girl will be sleeping. Now we just need the changing table and dresser. I had my 3 hour glucose test Friday & I get the results this week. Hopefully everything is fine. I hate that I have to wait for the results.

Rio-I'm having a girl, can you update my thing? Thanks!

Wow, Gina! How fun to have had your baby shower! :) It's tough to think there is more to get done earlier with twins, but sounds like you've got it going quite well. So how much has your cervix been shortening with each appointment. I've started contracting a lot, so I am worried about mine too. What meds do they have you on to help with that? Almost 25 weeks for you!! It's going fast.

Deidra~ How sweet of your hubs to set up the nursery for you. I would have cried seeing it too. :) And yes, there is a lot going on, on here. I can't keep up either.

Leora~ Looking good! How long until your first u/s...I believe you said it would be early, right? Hopefully you see things where they are supposed to be. The waiting is so tough, hang in there.

Stephanie~ I wish I could pack something like that to eat, as I know it would help...unfortunately I can't eat that sort of stuff because it will rip my brackets off of my teeth. I hate these stupid braces. I must have been out of my mind to think I could do this at 35 knowing full well I had an IVF cycle a month later after getting the silly things on. Always seems like a good idea before, and then after I just want to kick myself. :) They said I could get them off before the babies are born...but I think I will wait until after, soft pregnant gums and such, don't want them moving back. How are you feeling this week? Almost ready to stop working?

I know I am missing a lot of people, I will have to come back later and try to figure out who is who now. :) But once again, I just want to say welcome to all the new ladies to this thread, and those that are newly pregnant, so happy for you!

Mellow - Oh yeah, I forgot about your braces  I had mine still on when DD was born (12 years ago) and I hated having to deal with them. What about a tasty protein bar? DH is a workout junkie so we have lots of them lying around... CLIF makes a chocolate chip mint that's really yummy. Have you talked to your OB about your episode yet?

Gina - I'm hoping that my boys are flip flopping too. Unfortunately, they are always in the same position at every u/s which is why my OB is thinking they will stay like this. I'm not losing hope, but I am going to prepare myself and DH for just in case. As for the cervix issue... she has me fairly convinced of two things. 1) That an incompetent cervix would have been an issue by now. 2) Any problems from this point on should be pretty obvious and can be handled. Her concern is unnecessarily disturbing my cervix and CREATING a problem.

That being said, my BFF's little sister just went in for her anatomy scan (it's a girl!!!) a few days after my last appt. The tech was super concerned about something that she saw and switched to an internal u/s halfway through. Apparently, her cervix is only 1.5!!! Needless to say, she's on strict bed rest. She's not due until the end of July (27?) with her singleton! I'm praying for her and her little girl.

Hearing this news confirmed what my OB had said. I'm considering asking my tech at my next appt to take a peak at my cervix, but I'm definitely not as concerned as I had been. Plus, I'm going to be off of work within a couple of weeks which means lots of time horizontal.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!

Mellow: my cervix has shortened 1.5 in 2 weeks, it was nice and long @ 4.8 now down to 3.3 and is still considered okay until we hit 3. I probably won't even make 2 more weeks at this rate. I'm resting as much as possible to keep the boys cooking.
Maybe some peanut butter pretzels to keep with you will help?

Stephanie: when you have your U/S tell them you have felt some pressure. I made that mistake at one appointment, told the tech I thought it was just one of their heads(which it was) and they checked my cervix via U/S immediately. It's really not that invasive, just an internal U/S like in early pregnancy.

Wow Gina, that is a lot of change for 2 weeks! Craziness! Mine was 3.4, 2 weeks ago, I will have it checked on the 14th. Hopefully not much change will be happening, but...I am a little concerned with all the contractions and how HUGE I grew in the past couple of weeks. It's unbelievable. :) I have been having some pressure too, so we will see. I think I am okay as of right now, I just don't know how much longer it will last.

Gina- you and babies will be in my thoughts and prayers. A shortening cervix is no joke so you please start taking it easy now. The weight of the babies is only going to put more pressure as they grow. Lay down and rest as much as you can now. Buy as much time as you can. What meds are you taking to calm down the contractions?

Steph- a vaginal u/s can be done with sterile covers so nothing risky is introduced into the vagina. I have one about every two weeks b/c of my TAC (abdominal cerclage) to keep an eye on things. I'm happy your cervix looks nice and strong. But with twins, I would check it every couple weeks. If things don't change, well then you are home free. And if things change sooner than the doc would like, then you can stay off your feet more.

Leora- I'm sorry to hear about your lay-off. What crappy timing! All will work out and your little miracle is on the way!

I'm happy to see the board growing so much. I can tell you there is no way I can do personals for all like we use to. But know that I do read all the posts and send every single person positive thoughts, prayers and baby growing dust!

AFM- I'm starting to feel bigger. Every now and then I feel a random tightening and I get so worried b/c of my history. I know this happens as baby and uterus grow. It's so hard going through a pregnancy after a loss. On Tuesday I'll be 19 weeks. And then on March 14th is my anatomy scan. So exicted to finally learn if this is a boy or girl!

Big hug to everyone!

Leora Those test strips are great - from my experience IC's are not that sensitive so if you had a FRER they'd be blaring purple! Are you feeling confident? Have you told anyone?

Gina sorry to hear about your cervix measurement - that's got to be a bit stressful. Take things easy and relax as much as possible. I don't know much about this issue - do they ever expect a cervix to reverse and actually get stronger/thicker? It's great that you had your baby shower so soon - gets you in the swing of things and then you can safely get the stuff you're missing/needing. I'm not sure if we'll end up with a shower - my family has never been the same since my sister passed away last spring. Half of them are not speaking to me and have not acknowledged my pregnancy, and the other half live too far away. I'm sure that my husband, sons and their girlfriends and I will get together and celebrate in some way, and maybe invite some of our friends to 'meet the baby' when he's born. I can't imagine anyone throwing me a baby shower unless it is my staff! LOL

Karen; I've thought I've felt a few moments of 'tightening' but wasn't sure. Felt more in my lower back than anything else - but I had bad back labour with both of my other kids. I'd just relax through it.... usually happens to me when I'm not getting enough rest.... do you notice anything in common with when you're getting them?

AFM: I'm sure baby boy had his first round of hiccups today. I felt this little ticking sensation deep in my tummy. Too cool! We're preparing for ten days in Mexico in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to get out of this deep freeze and sun my tummy on some white sand beaches!

Mellow: You should be taking it easy as well, rest as much as you can. Call your OB and let them know about the pressure.

Karen: Thank you for the prayers. I am taking procardia right now, it seems to work most of the time. I'm going to call work tomorrow and officially go out on Maternity Leave. I sit up for 12 hours and cannot put my feet up so I think it's time. Good luck on your ultrasound!!!

Sonya: So sorry to hear of the loss of your sister.
No my cervix won't reverse, although it would be
nice. I started with Braxton Hicks around the same time, drink lots of water. Enjoy your trip to Mexico, I'm so jealous!!

I'm definitely not going to be moving much, having more pressure tonight so I will be lying down.

Rio: I hope you don't mind me thread crashing for just a minute. I just have some thoughts as I had GD with my son. It was not as bad as yours, however, it was a full blown case. In between my scheduled meals and snacks if I was hungry, I'd eat olives and cheese and pickled veggies. I know, a lot of sodium, however, my blood pressure always has been perfect. It may not be something you can try, but I thought you might like the suggestion. :D
