Dear Amanda, rph, Dee and Kamina. Dear everyone who ever doubted. It works!!!

BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still many milestones, still need to see on Wednesday and perhaps afterwards if the numbers double like they should, but it works!!! Many more steps before we tell our friends and families, before we can start feeling a bit more at ease. But right now, I'm as happy as can be. And I haven't been for a long long time.

We started this journey so worried, with such a scary statistic of this type of male infertility. It works!!!

I hope and pray the same for each and every one of you, just this morning I still didn't know. I wish so much I could in some way comfort and assure anyone else with even half my worries.

greekchick--all these medications really make our bodies do things they would normally not do. I don't think that being late is much of a concern since u are taking medications that u have never taken. I don't remember or not but didn't u take birth control pills before you even started your injections? If you did it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. I know every time I took the birth control pills before a cycle I would start my period 6-8 days after I stopped taking them, when did you stop the birth control pills? What injections are u taking I forget?

Hi Amanda and Greekchick!
(Seems like only us three are left here).

Greekchick - please take comfort from my story. We had severe male infertility, I mean DH had 0% normal head morphology. But doctors explained to us many times that even when you get these percentages, they will always find when using ICSI (or in our case IMSI which for you perhaps is less useful, the problem being motility) some sperms that are very good quality and they will be enough!
Amanda - thanks so much for your beautiful wishes. Means a lot for me, we have come a long way together now...

DH and I had a rough morning. Took a stupid HPT last night just to keep it for the future to come and see for the first time the two lines, meaning - pregnant. Well, guess what, the stupid test barely showed any second line and got us totally scared. By today's results, which to make things much worse were very late, I was on the verge of a nervous break down. Well, We thought at first by the result we had on Monday that we may be expecting twins (our dream) but today's results not quite doubling but going enough up nonetheless, made it clear we are looking at a singleton. RE said that numbers now look like one and a half, so I figured maybe we lost one of two:) Of course we are very thankful, it just takes some time to give up what we thought we had and learn to accept the miracle that we both received. And with our statistic nothing looked promising at all.

Kay (for now you shall just be called Kay for the Lord has granted you your gift and you shall wait no more)

Just back from New York! What wonderful news to come back to.

I am still waiting. I know most of my post have been pretty uneventful. I am on birthcontrol pills and waiting to start my cycle. I will be getting a scan to find out if I can start..... Same ol same ol for the past 3 months now.

Kay don't leave us right away. I know many leave because they have reached the finish line, but please stay until the first trimester with us, if you can. :)

ATLANTA – The price of preventing preterm labor is about to go through the roof.

A drug for high-risk pregnant women has cost about $10 to $20 per injection. Next week, the price shoots up to $1,500 a dose, meaning the total cost during a pregnancy could be as much as $30,000.

That's because the drug, a form of progesterone given as a weekly shot, has been made cheaply for years, mixed in special pharmacies that custom-compound treatments that are not federally approved.

But recently, KV Pharmaceutical of suburban St.Louis won government approval to exclusively sell the drug, known as Makena (Mah-KEE'-Nah). The March of Dimes and many obstetricians supported that because it means quality will be more consistent and it will be easier to get.

None of them anticipated the dramatic price hike, though — especially since most of the cost for development and research was shouldered by others in the past.

"That's a huge increase for something that can't be costing them that much to make. For crying out loud, this is about making money," said Dr. Roger Snow, deputy medical director for Massachusetts' Medicaid program.

"I've never seen anything as outrageous as this," said Dr. Arnold Cohen, an obstetrician at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

"I'm breathless," said Dr. Joanne Armstrong, the head of women's health for Aetna, the Hartford-based national health insurer.

Has anyone heard about this?

Hi Kamina, Greekchick and Amanda!

No reason for me to leave! My journey here is still long. Besides, it's not like all of a sudden I live in a different world because we managed it (so far). I think the period of time trying and worrying has left us so that we take nothing for granted and therefore part of me is still living in the loop of trying and trying. And the news are so fresh yet, not even an U/S to confirm - fingers crossed. I got very good advices from the ladies on thread "pregnant after treatment" - mainly consulting about the possibility of probably having lost a twin right on the very start:( but also priceless advices on why the heck I'm as bloated as if I was 6 weeks pregnant with twins. I don't take the estrogen tablets since Monday and yet my estrogen levels keep on climbing until on Wednesday they measured 10700!!! It's very painful - almost everything aches, sleeping walking moving around. I can't sleep on my left side whatsoever and the right side I have to fill in the gap between my huge bloated belly and the mattress so that I will be able to sleep not only on my back. Not the romantic idea of slim body for the first trimester, incredibly quick weight gain - though thank god no m/s yet at all, and not really even feeling queasy neither craving or disliking anything.

How was New York? I am always dreaming of going there...My mom is, and since she's the only one who knows we may now finally have a baby I told her to buy some baby cloths because it's supposed to be cheaper in New York.

Kamina--Good to hear from you and hope everything goes as planned when you go back for another check-up. Glad you had a chance to go to New York and have some time not thinking about all this (like we ever go a day without thinking about it) but hopefully you had a great time with hubby.

Kay--I am happy to hear levels are progressing and who knows maybe the twin is just a slow starter you never know until you get that u/s so I'll keep praying, when is u/s? It seems funny to hear that baby clothes would be cheaper in NY because here in TN we always think about things in NY being so much more expensive than anywhere else in the states because the cost of living is sooooo high there!!!! I can't imagine what the cost of living is there for you in Israel...compared to here in TN.

Greekchick--great to hear your period has come!!!! Yahooo for the process starting and being one step closer to your dream!!!

AFM--I am on spring break from school and I am in Ohio where most of my mom's side of the family is. I have been visiting with my niece and enjoying her laugh!!! She is such a happy baby it is so wonderful to spend time with her......I did get a referel to the army hospital in San Antonio that handles IVF cases for the military which will cost us just the medications which would be about 5,000 or so I am estimating. I don't know if they will have an opening for me to get in before we leave for germany in August but maybe so????? If not we are still planning on doing a cycle in the Czech Republic when we get there probably in Sept/Oct timeframe.

Blessings to all,

Ladies-

I'm so far behind! I'm here and reading your stories but am working way too much so I don't get on every day or reply as often as I'd like, but I think of all of you often and send many hopeful thoughts and prayers your way. It's difficult this work thing--if I quit, I can't afford IVF, but I work such long hours! Hopefully I'll get a BFP soon and I can go part time :)

K-
So glad to have a SUCCESS story! How often do you have to go in to get your levels checked? I am so happy that things seem to be progressing nicely. I hope the aching passes for you soon. We always buy clothes in Israel because we think they are so much cheaper and better made than things here--you have more European designers so get better cuts than we seem to for less money. I suppose your baby doesn't need to be wearing any designer gear though!

Kamina-
Any word on when you'll be starting the stims? I think my office is the only one that doesn't require the progesterone shots. I just do suppositories and pills, but that's terrible about the price hike for the shot!

Amanda-
What great news! When will you know if they have an opening for you before you leave? That would be wonderful--just the cost of meds!

Greekchick-
how's it going?

So...what does AFM stand for? I missed that one.
I'm in the middle of my stims--going in for US tomorrow and hoping they've grown and my eggs are better quality than last time.

Talk to you all soon!

Hi ladies,

Before I write anything else - could you ladies still waiting, answer something to user name "elcope" who has a thread in "Introductions"? I don't think that I can cheer her up at my stage because I got a positive (so far). My heart aches when I read everything she wrote, I feel so strongly for her. Amanda - she's also our age (i will turn 35 just days after you, on October the 4'th). They have no known issues and they bit all odds in the negative sense. Sad.

Greekchick - for me personally, both ER's that I went through ere the easy part. It's all about how you choose to look at it. Be strong and remember this is the stage that GOOD STUFF CAN START HAPPENING. It's exciting, especially if it turns out alright. Because it's physically your hubby's problem why not try have a romantic dinner or anything the night before? something to relax the both of you and remind you you have a shared journey. I share this with you, that the only issue we had was my DH's. I was having difficulties at first (ashamed to admit) to accept not telling anybody what the problem was since everyone automatically assume it's therefore the woman. Amanda has helped me great deal with that and eventually it just really doesn't matter who has the problem as long as you're both on a mission to solve it.
Amanda and RPH - concerning the cloths, hmmmm. We always have friends shopping like maniacs in the States, particularly New York especially for brands such as Diesel, Levis and more and more. Also Guess, Gap, We have those brands here but they cost a fortune!!! Rph - true that we have some fabulous European brands but I guess we all want what we don't have.
Rph - My RE only sent me twice to have my betas. First time 12dp3dt it was 300, two days later it was 532. This made him and me conclude that there is one baby, mainly due to the less than every 48 hours doubling time. He then carefully said there seem to be a baby and a half (think he meant one didn't make it further:((( So I can only HOPE everything proceeds as it should now, next week around Wednesday I should come for an U/S. By then I'll be 6 and half weeks. Pray for me and cross every bit of your crossables (hehehe terrible language abuse).
Amanda - I am praying for you so much to start sooner! Yay! Waiting to hear more about it. Excited also that May is approaching in huge steps and you DH will be home with you.
Kamina - how are you doing?

Hugs to all of you, think of you, want to be happy for you too.

Hello Kay - glad you will stick around for a while. Sorry to hear you are so bloated. lol. But hope it will get better. It's for a good cause. I remember when I was preg, I instantly hated the smell of onions and I loved shrimp, which I never eat. Yuck. I feel they are bottom feeders. lol. But when I was preg, I ate a ton of them.

I am also going to attend a talk about IVF with another Dr. At times I feel my doc has no time for me. He is super busy. So I am keeping my options open.

Trusting - hello I hope all works well and you can start earlier.

rph - you are in a catch 22. I am so sorry. Maybe some money will be coming your way soon. :0 then you can work part time. You are one strong lady. I just paid for my stim cause my Fex spending ends in March. It was 1440 for 2 shots.... So expensive.
