Hi guys
I'm alot more postivie now-what will be will be
Caz my weekly book says week 10 you will notice you are putting weight on which Iam I spent ages trying to find some work clothes thats fitted me and was comfy I ended up with a skirt that I wear at the weekend as its a size bigger so I think a trip to meadowhall is in order.I've started to tell people at work now which is a great weight off my shoulders I thought as I'm 10wks and had 2 scans why bloody wait til 12wks I've waited so long to finally say the words so why wait, plus now I'm getting bigger Its getting more harder to hide.
Zeena nice to see you back,my dh is the same he is even coming food shopping with me which he hates, and hes always telling me to take it easy and rest-easy said then done when theres washing and ironing
Fiona I'm going to start swimming but will have to get my bikini line done first.
Bina how are you? still being sick?
Tracey hope you've had a lovely day sunbathing,I'm looking forward to the 6 weeks holidays and we've only just gone back to work only 6 weeks and 3 days to go-not that I'm counting
Shellie Try not to worry about the discharge my clinic said if its brown its nothing to worry about its when its red,but if you are still worried then phone your clinic and they might give you a scan.
Hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the sun.
Love Gemxxx

Hi everyone,
Back from a 2-day conference and took me ages to catch up with all your posts.
Luckily the sickness has set back in, I'm throwing up punctually about half an hour after getting up! Very pleased about that!
As far as pot bellies go, I'm with you all the way! Can't do up trousers and am seriously concerned about how to hide it for another 2 weeks until after my scan...! But found some summer dresses that might hide things a bit...! Let's hope the waether stays nice, otherwise there's no way of not giving things away...
Gem, I'm going for a nucchal as well with the double blood test. Apparently it's only on the NHS if you're 37+, (I'm 35), but I'm going for it anyway. No CVS, no amnio, this is going to be it! And whatever happens, happens, this has been too hard to even contemplate termination...that's just me (and DH), of course.

So here's my latest paranoia: I still get some sort of pulling pain on my left-hand side (sort of ovary/fallopian tube area). I had it a lot straight after treatment and the IVF clinic said it's because the ovaries are still swollen, but surely they should have gone down by now? Also, I did have endometriosis on the left, which was lasered away, but maybe there could be some scar tissue there? I'm just a bit worried that if it hurts when I'm relatively small, what's it going to be like when my belly really gets big?

Oh well - overall as we're ticking off the weeks I'm counting down to week 12 (same as you, Gem) - fingers crossed we''ll be OK!
All the best to all of you! Lots of love,
bina

When I had mt 9 week scan last week they checked my ovaries and they were still enlarged which they said were normal for ivf so dont worry about it.
I think that is what we are going to do re the tests,I havent asked about the nuchal test will I be ok waiting til I see teh consulalnt at the local hosp we should get a appointment in the next few weeks its for my 12 week scan,my next midwife is 15th July when I will be 15 weeks and I will have the bloods done,or should I phone my midwife and ask her about the nuchal I dont mind paying if I have to.?

How lovely to see you both back and not full of worries  Just the odd one from you Bina  To satisfy you then the pulling can be anything - might still be your ovary for another week or so, mine was pulling as have swollen tube which is clipped, but could be just stretchy pains and don't worry they go for ages and then you just get some heavy wopping lump inside like concrete or in my case two!!!! It's a mare to turn over - need a JCB!!!

Nuchals are very good - especially if you are a bit older like me :( but mine are free over 35 and if you have had IVF so got it on both counts!
Totally agree with you both over what will be will be.............. Gem your appointment on July 15th is my birthday and DH is 8 hours younger on the next day - how bizarre! All pressies gratefully received
The sun was too hot even for me yesterday - normally I can hack it whatever but with these two and how muggy!!! The dog kept throwing herself in our fish pond  - quite tempted myself but having fallen in it last week decided not!
Love to all

Hello

There have been too many new postings on this thread for my poor, tired, stupid brain to keep up with. Has anyone else found they are forgetting things and being clumsy?

Zeena - yes the same person did my scans both times which made it much nicer.

Thanks for the reminder about the bikini wax. Need to book mine. Wore a black swimmong costume yesterday in the hope it would all blend in..... Sorry, TMI!!!

I can't understand why I don't get a free nuchal scan as I am well over 35. I will take it up with the midwife in 2 weeks though she sounded a bit dopey. Took Miriam Stoppards book out from the library and a very depressing book on becoming a mother at over 40. Think I should order my zimmer now!

My stomach is huge too. I have gone up 2 dress sizes and am very fed up as I used to be a size 8 ( had to mention it as I may never be that slim again). I am sure it's as a result of the drugs. My stomach went down a bit when I came off the pessaries but not much and I weighed myself this morning. Ugh. Can't think why people love being pregnant. I loathe it. The only good thing is I finally have a cleavage but that is going to merge with my stomach soon.

Off for lunch and a lie down.

Hello, I can't believe all the heat you've been having down south. I hope it makes its way up to Edinburgh!! We had rain this morning....

Gem, I bet it is a great feeling telling people. Are they pressuring you for a date to start maternity leave yet. My boss gave me time off for the tmt so I told him I got a positive and he said 'F**k, when do I lose you, how long are you taking off?'. Gee Wizz I am still getting used to the fact I'm preggers! I'm supposed to work over xmas this year so maybe I'll start the leave the week before. hehehehehe

Am I a lazy ar*e, because I seem to need an afternoon nap each day. Luckily today I only worked a half day but I get to 3pm and then want to have 40 winks.

I haven't had my first scan and some days I am excited to be pregnant and then other days (today) I wonder whether they made a mistake and when I go for my scan they will apologise and say they got it wrong. How's that for paranoia. :? I know this is silly as my boobs are huge veiny and very sore to touch. I haven't had AF and feel queezy sometimes but then I think maybe all these symptoms are in my mind. God I'm going insane!! Arghhh that feels better. You all know I'm loony now. I'm so looney at the moment I though Tracey said all pessaries grately received for her birthday. Why would anyone want more of them than they have to!!! I had to reread....

Can anyone tell me how pregnant am I? I had EC on Monday 17 May. Doesn't it start from 2 weeks becuase it is measured from period (which I didn't have) So would that make me 5 weeks 2 days? How is EDD worked out?

Enough silly questions for one day. I'm off for my nap.

Best wishes to you and your various sized bumps.

No way no more pessaries - stop trying to give them away - they are vile. For EDD - go back two weeks from ET (some go from EC but normally only 2 days difference) and then go forward the grand sum of 40 weeks and that is edd - by the time you have a test you are normally around 4weeks plus - plus a bit - depends on when you test. You are 5 weeks and 2 days today if you do EC and EDD is (don't believe I am doing this for you) is 8th February 2005 - mind you this does not seem right when I compare with Gem's dates etc - they will give you and EDD anyway.Actually this is right compared to GEms dates - ignore me!
Don't worry about the sleeping - this is normal and take advantage!

Help

Felt the worst I have felt so far yesterday. Nauseous all day and tired and dizzy. Spent most of the afternoon in bed. The house is a tip and no-one has any clean clothes. My son told my dad that I was in bed with a bug. When my mother rang later she sounded a little suspicious. I am sure she's going to guess and she'll go ballistic. Still, the way I feel right now, that's the least of my problems.

The ginger biscuits don't work for me. Has anyone got any other tips?

Poor you - and the hayfever is not making it better is it :( Why will your Mum go ballistic? or is she of the opionion the two of you have enough already - well it's your choice - she will come round won't she?

Ginger biscuits did help me and still eat them but more for energy in the am! How about those wrist bands for sea sickness? The best thing as not doubt you know is to eat little and often - anything you fancy. Try biscuits in the morning when you wake then your breakfast. The sea bands are quite effective actually! Also lucozade did it for me - don't ask why but seemed to settle my stomach - good luck

Hi
to many names to remember who asked what but this is how it was/is for me:

Fiona - like Tracey Lucozade worked well for me, also spring veg soup (not the thick one) along with one slice of bread. I lost over a stone in the first 8 weeks although was hospitalised with OHSS and looked 4 months pregnant from then.

I have been to 2 different hospitals and you make your own breakfast in both - they both had the day room set up with tea/coffee/water and buns and jam etc.

I drink a lot during the day but have tried to kurb it at night as going to the toilet at least 8 times a night was becoming the norm - so no sleep. However, have found that not drinking after 7.00pm has not really made much difference (toilet 6 times in 1 hour and 50 mins!!) so have just gone back to drinking when I need to.

Felt very tired at the start of the pregnancy up to about 14 weeks, then started again from about 25 weeks and still going strong - could sleep for England if I could only stop going to the loo every hour!

Didn't really suffer from any symptoms although still now sometimes feel as if AF has arrived and am 34 weeks pregnant.

Your body is going through massive changes and everyone is different, some suffer with everything and some get away with nothing. Talking about it all is brilliant and everyone feels comfortable to ask anything on the site. Also contact your midwife or hospital if you need to - never worry about what you are asking or feeling it is their job to help and reassure you.

Take care everyone
Love Lisa

Hi so many messgaes :D Very cool!
Fiona - poor you - have to say I'm suffering a bit too although not throwing up at all. I find that constant grazing helps! Ginger bikkies, diet coke (definately helps), sweets you can suck helpful too. O and sleep!

Is everyone peeing in the night alot - I'm only once, which I was before anyway. Its weird because at the scan they said everything was quite squashed up so I'm surprised the old bladder hasn't given out more. Boring little story -sorry!

New from me is limited....except that we have rented a COOL gadget - a doppler. Anyone else used one? I could really do with some expert advice. We used today for first time and heard a regular sort of whooshing sound -which I guess is the blood flow increasing around there and then in the tiniest spot - really easy to miss - a much faster clip clop/ ticking sort of sound -which I'm hoping /guess is a heartbeat. If we're right it was amazing! If we are wrong I'll feel a bit of a twerp!
Would love some advice if anyone has every heard a doppler on there tummy at early stages or if anyone has used one themselves.
Are my interpretations right?
Also - the tummy I thought was down to a growing embryo isn't at all - the embryo is much lower (top of bikini line ish!! -correct? ) and my tummy is protruding around the belly button - O dear !! I blame the biscuits!
Been quite rubbish at work this week - cannot WAIT for the weekend.

O Gem - I bet you 12 week scan will automatically be a nuchal - I think thats the whole point of doing them then - so I wouldn't worry. Dunno if I'm having bloods- noone has said anything about them?? I feel the same as some of you guys - I think I would have the baby even if it did have downs as I have very little chance of ever being PG (with my DHs sperm) again. But I COMPLETELY understand where the other view is coming from too

Tracey - sorry to hear its too hot for you -wow it must be tough in this weather! I'm usually quite good at sunbathing but have been rubbish recently!

We have been really worried today I got up at 1am to go to the toilet and i have a ache in my belly I was quite worried an did a prey to god I told dh when I got back in bed but didnt say I was worried-just 10% I said but we didnt sleep dh was really worried it was awful seeing his face,it wasnt a period pain but and wasnt sharp pain maybe it was trapped wind or something I ate also when I turned ove rin bed I got a sharp pain at my left side.this morning it wasnt too bad but I've been really tired all day and scared I phoned my midwife at dinner time and she said its normal to get pains as everything is growing and my ultraus is growing out of my pelvic bone she didnt seem that interested,I aske dabout the nuchal scan and Barnsley doesnt do them but Jessops do where I had my treatment but she said wait for my appointment with the conslulant at Barnslay and ask him which isnt till 30th June when I will be 13 weeks so another 3 weeks to wait for a scan :( so I might phone jessops tomorrow and seeif they will scan me I know I have been discharged but they did say if I'm worried then phone them I think we just want sone reasurrance what do you guys think or am I being silly an dshould wait for my appointment on the 30th?? Did anyone else have any pains? there asnt been any bleeding thank god-but would I bleed straight away?
I just wish we could have scans every week.
Caz where did you get your doppler from and how much? I had heard from 12 weeks you might be able to hear the heartbeat but after today we could do with some extra reasurrance.
Hop[e someone can reasure me or tell me the truth if it is something to worry about.
Hope everyone else is ok
I will come back on after tea dh as gone to the fish shop as I cant be arsed to cook!!

Hi Gem,

Just to ease your mind I have been having sharp pains on my left side, especially when turning in bed. The nurse said it sould be my endometriosis being disturb because of the growing uterus or just the growing uterus. Nothing to worry about, we analyse everything too much because of what it took for us to be here. I am the same!

Every now and then I have to remind myself that I am pregnant and enjoy... It only lasts 9 months. Can someone remind me of this advice when I post again paranoid something is wrong!

The doppler sounds like a fabulous idea. I'd be listening to the babies heartbeat all day. :) :)

I seem to be getting nauseas in the afternoon evening and at around 2am in the morning!! I don't have anything in the morning but try and sleep. During the day ginger biscuits work for me but someone suggested tea biscuits. The arm bands work for me when I am travelling in the back seat of a car, not sure about morning sickness, worth a try.

12 more days before I have my first scan and I can't wait.

HI there
Gem - I have tummy pains quite alot - remember everything is being squished up so you dijestion isn't what it was - it could be trapped wind. Mine isn't exactly like AF pain its almost as if I need to go to the loo or have tummy upset or something. Sorry for details!
As for the turning over pain - yes I have had it alot- really quite sharp and painful - but goes away again reasonably quickly when you lie straight - its your ovaries- they are probably still swollen - clinic told me they would be until 12 weeks ish. To be honest I have this problem for years though!
Dont worry!!
Hey check me out -only the biggest panicer in the world!!

The doppler - is about £25 a month I think. Not cheap but after I think 7 months you can keep it. You could always sell it afterwards on ebay or someting. I figure its worth sacrificing £25 a month for the piece of mind. Although am sure I wont be saying that when I can't hear the heartbeat, which is JUST bound to happen isnt it
Anyway - am too hot - thought there was meant to be a storm tonight. London REALLY stuffy and horrid. O well!

....just thought I'd say - I've developed tummy ache whilst typing this! Anyone else get randomly achey spots where I guess your ovaries are??
O well!
