Hello all you Twin Mom's and Dad's,
I have not bee on the site in a while and wanted to catch up with everyone expecting twins in May.
I am due May 4th with twin girls. Modified bedrest since January, which I was actually enjoying until lat Feb. when I started to really slow down. I am about 45 lbs heavier now and feeling so much fatigue. It is difficult to walk and to sleep.
We began monitoring the girls with our Perinatologist last week and will continue to do so until they arrive on a weekly basis.
They are both very active and about 4 lbs each now.
Were just trying to make it to the 36th week where the Dr. says their lungs will be mature enough to not need assistance with breathing.
I have began to swell in my hands and feet to the point that they hurt but my blood pressure is pretty low so they don't seem too concerned and actually say its pretty common with carrying twins.
I have reached the point of utter exhaustion most days.
Planning on a c-section, hopefully April 12th when I am 37 weeks. I will find out if this will be possible on Tuesday.
16 years ago I had a successful vaginal delivery and am nervous about this procedure but have been told by the Dr. that this is best for the babies and myself.
Does anyone have any advice they can give or some insight on how you are feeling at this point in your pregnancy?
Hi Hopeful! I'm not due in May, but I just had my girls in November. They are now 4 months old and just started sleeping through the night (whoo hoo)!!
I never had the swelling, but I started modified rest at 24 weeks. My mom moved in with us to help with our 5 & 3 year olds. I gained 48 pounds, lost 3 in the last couple of weeks, so I was up 45 at the delivery. I had a hard time standing for more than 30 min at 24 weeks, and at 34 was flat our miserable. I started having contractions (other than braxton hicks...those started at 19 weeks) at 33-34 weeks and they just got more painful near the end. I delivered via c/s at 36w3d and they were 5#4oz and 5#2oz. Both perfect, no NICU time.
They are wonderful and doing so well. Still small (at their 4 month check up this week they were 11#2oz and 10#7oz), but healthy and happy. Did I mention sleeping through the night??
Babyluv- I bet your twins sleeping through the night is awesome! My little boy has been a good sleeper, but I can't imagine with two.
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
Thank you Babyluv for responding. Your reply is encouraging. At least I know that what I am feeing is somewhat normal.
I had an appointment last Thursday, 33 weeks, at that point the girls were 5lbs 4 oz and 5lbs 3 oz. One week ahead of schedule.
I was truly shocked. If they continue to grow at this rate I am hoping the Dr. will move my c-section date up.
I think we are ready for their arrival and the sleepless nights but have an excellent source of help and plan on utilizing them when needed.
Did you have a C-Section? If so, do you have any advice? I have a 16 year old daughter that I delivered vaginally, so this is going to be a new experience for me.
