Ghost or Anyone- Mid Cycle Bleeding

I am hoping someone can give me some insight. I am in the month in between an IVF and FET on cycle day 13. Planning to start the FET in my next menstrual cycle. I had a BFN this past fresh cycle. I had a normal period this month, with the exception of passing a golfball size clot that turned out to be a lot of shells of estrace pills I had taken vaginally. Yesterday I started spotting and today I had cramps followed by a regular flow (which is continuing as of now). I have never bled mid cycle before and my cycles usually last 26 - 28 days. This did not happen in my previous IVF cycle or the subsequent FET. The internet has me concerned that it could be perimenopause, fibroids, polyps, or thyroid issues. I do not have a history of any of these (although it has been over a year since I had a laparascopy when my tubes were removed). I have a call scheduled with my RE tomorrow, but would really like to know your thoughts or experiences. Naturally I am worried that it may delay this FET.

I did read that this can happen when estrogen drops during ovulation and I assume that is what it is, especially since my estrogen levels have been manipulated for the IVF. Still worried that it will cause a delay.

I am pretty sure you are correct that an E2 drop could cause it, but there are other possible causes.

Thanks Ghost. RE felt that it was probably that my cycle crashed and that it is an early period since I have moderate flow and cramping. Says its probably that my body has been "spoiled" from the stims last cycle and that I may not have developed a follicle so I just started shedding the lining around the time of ovulation.

My concern now though is that he has me going in for a sonohysterogram next week. I read that these should take place between CD5 and 14. If I did get an early period then today is CD2 for me, if it is just mid-cycle bleeding its CD14. I just hate the thought of going in for the test and the timing not being right, but I also do not want to wait another full cycle if I don't have to do so.

I am still bleeding today, but much lighter (still its more than just spotting though). I assume that given that my lining didn't get a chance to thicken an early period would be a little lighter than usual.

Does the early period assessment sound right to you and do you think we are ok to do the sonohysterogram next week?
