Congrats on the boy! I don't know about yall, but I didn't care at ALL what I was having, only that I was getting my sweet little baby! Friday will be 20 weeks for me - halfway! I'm so excited and happy about everything. We're having custom baby bedding made, and I've been picking out fabric swatches this week.

If you all are thinking about doing this, there is a website that is similar to Ebay but for handmade, custom items. They have several people on there that make baby bedding, and it is all so cute! www.etsy.com is the website, and I'm working with the seller named Customhouse Baby.

Look forward to hearing from you all soon!

It's been forever since we've chatted! I'm due on Friday, and wanted to touch base with everyone to see how it's going for you! So far, at all of my recent checkups I have had NO progress, 0% effaced, not dilated at ALL! So frustrating! However, things have been feeling a little different this week, and I have another appt tomorrow so I'm praying for some progress. My doctor is leaving to go out of town for a week on Friday, so if I have the baby next week I'll be delivered by one of her partners, but to be honest I don't really care as long as I get my sweet baby soon!

We have an induction scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th, when she'll be 4 days late, if she hasn't come by then.

What is up with you guys????

Hey BRMommy2B, how lovely to hear from you! I can't believe you only have 2 days until your due date! Hope things go smoothly for you, make sure that you let us know how you get on!

I am 6 days from my due date and getting impatient to meet whatever I've been cooking in here for the last 9 months! It was looking as though the hospital might want to induce me early because it looked as though his/her weight might get too much to allow for a 'normal' delivery (it was on course to be over the 10lb mark at one point) but thankfully the growth rate slowed down between 35 and 38 weeks and the baby 'only' weighed 8lbs at last Wednesday's 38 week scan, so they are letting me go to term and won't interfere unless the baby doesn't come before 41 weeks or so.

Since the horrendous morning sickness between weeks 6 and 16, I've had a very good pregnancy and have been fortunate to be able to stay active throughout, which I think has kept some of the usual aches and pains at bay. I've not enjoyed the heartburn much, and carrying around a big baby has become increasingly uncomfortable over the last few weeks, but otherwise I cannot complain!

I find it so interesting that you are checked for effacement and dilation at your appointments - in the UK, they don't usually check until you are overdue and hit 41 weeks. All I know about my own progress is that the baby's head Is now fully engaged. It's all a bit of a waiting game, isn't it!

I wonder if anyone else from this thread still checks in - it would be lovely to hear how everyone is doing!

Take care,
Hazel

So glad to hear from you! I too have a "big baby", although not as bit as yours was projected to be, weighing in at 7 lbs 1 oz at our 37 week appt. They estimate that she's in the low 8s right now. In the US, they start internal exams to check for dilation and effacement at 36 weeks, and I go every week.

I've had a good pregnancy too. Really didn't start to get "winded" until about a week or so ago, and I think it's just more ready to see her than being uncomfortable. Oh, but yes, I've had the heartburn too. NOT fun! Can't wait to hear from everyonen else too! Best of luck!

BRMommy2B - so if you had an induction planned for September 7th, I assume you are now holding your beautiful baby in your arms! I've been thinking of you! Let us know how it went and what you called her.

AFM, I am now 8 days overdue and getting really frustrated. I have developed really bad pelvic and groin pain in the last week so I'm now shuffling around like an old lady, and I've had four sweeps from the midwife (plus acupuncture treatments designed to induce labour) and the baby is firmly staying put! I'm booked into the hospital to be induced on Friday 17th September (when I'll be 41 weeks 3 days) if nothing has happened on its own by then. I've been doing everything I can think of to get him/her to come (pineapple, curries, long walks etc), so I'm not holding out much hope of things happening naturally in the next 36 hours - I think this baby is going to need to be prised out with a crowbar...

My how time flies! Today is my sweet girl's 7 month birthday! We named her Grace, and she is such a blessing in our lives! She was born on September 7, at 12:22pm, weighed 8 pounds, 10.5 oz, and was 22 inches long! She's been such a great baby, and is FINALLY sleeping 12 hour stretches at night! We're so happy!

Let me know how things are going with you all!
