Pineapple, Grapejuice and walnut...

Post by babydreamz »

Who better to take advice about conceiving than my dear pregnant IVF buddies! 8)

My long wait is finally over and FET is scheduled for Friday, just two more sleeps away :D

After 3 unsuccessful attempts I am willing to try anything and want to know more about Pineapple, Grapejuice and walnut.

Do they really help in conceiving?

What is the best days to eat them?On day of transfer? Quantity? How many days? Anything else I can do to increase my chances to conceive..?

Thanks in advance for your advice and words of wisdom!Have a uneventful pregnancy. :D

Hoping you join you ladies in few weeks
:D :D

One of the things that I felt worked for me was staying relaxed and unstressed. To me, it made sense that an embryo would be more likely to implant in an unstressed rather than a stressed mother. While it was tough at first, once I adopted a "what will be, will be" attitude, everything was okay.

I ate my normal diet, I figured why cause change? My body was healthy and running smoothly; I didn't want to change anything by upsetting my diet. The last things I wanted was diarrhea, pH upset, constipation or any other negative response that might have happened if I made dramatic changes in what I ate.

Baby - I am so happy you are trying again, my best baby dust to you my friend! I ate a bowl of Trader Joe's frozen pinneapple after ET and for two weeks every night. I also visualized my babies getting cozy and implanting!!!

Aside from the obvious of having to have a good embie and uterus....stay relaxed...rest the first three days after transfer...and acupuncture right after transfer (same day). Worked for me. :) I wouldn't put much stock on the pineapple, grapejuice or walnut stuff. Just eat healthy, stay hydrated. If that means including those three items it won't hurt.

SDtrying#2 wrote:Hi Baby, I am hoping so much that you'll join us here very pregnant very soon!! The only advice that I think would be helpful is to do anything and everything you can during/before/after any IVF cycle to preserve your mental health. I really don't believe that much of this is in our control and I definitely don't believe in the whole "the secret" way of thinking (ie that you can will yourself with PMA to become pregnant.) Wouldn't we all be pregnant now. I do however think that all of us encourage eachother to try to reduce stress and have PMA for our wellbeing/mental health.

So, having said that I did a lot of things, not because I think they "work" but more because I know they allowed me to cope and have strength and balance during my cycles. IE here are some of the things I did...

- took some extra hours off work (in addition to that time needed for appts)
- did one session of acupuncture 2 days prior to transfer
- 2 days bed rest where my husband cooked me my favorite "fertility meal" long story but it is an amazing persian meal
- Ate a bunch of pineapple (with only the amount of core I could stomach) during bedrest, I doubt it did anything, but just the act of eating something special to help my embies made me feel good
- Planned a vacation to Hawaii right after my Beta date. My thinking was that it was either my celebration vacation or my consolation prize. It turns out great and think I could have still enjoyed it even if I'd had a BFN.

Good luck!!
Thanks SD- I would love to hear the story of fertility meal, sounds interesting, do share and my DH is the head chef for few days, hopefully he will be able to prepare it.

I have one acupuncture session right after FET. Have everythg cross that this my my BFP!

SDtrying#2 wrote:So here's the story behind what DH refer to as the "fertility meal"...

So my husband is an amazing cook, but he rarely cooks and needs a lot of poking and prodding from yours truly. So my favorite dish he makes is a Fish Koresh (persian meal made of stewed herbs and white fish), unfortunately he makes it only about once a year. So with our 1st IVF attempt, I told him that I was absolutely sure that eating fish koresh during my 2 days bedrest would help us get pregnant :) or course he laughed at me (knowing full well I was just trying to get me some Koresh!!) but I didn't let up, so he finally cooked me a huge batch of it which I ate lunch/dinner for 2 days in a row....pure heaven to me.

We were successful with that cycle, so from then on we refer to it as my fertility meal :) I think it is no coincidence that my November FET was not successful since the batch of koresh he made then was too spicy and inedible. With my 2nd Fresh cycle, the batch came out just right and sure enough, success!! LOL
That is so funny SD!! Thanks for sharing the story, it made my laugh so hard that the progesterone suppository almost popped out
