OHSS

Post by marydemo »

Hello All,
I had my Embryo Transfer done for my 1st IVF- and 2 days after my ET; I had lot of fluild accumulation near my ovaries because of OHSS. The RE had to drain the fluid. While they drained the fluid they had to put me on anesthesia and give me medicines like Doxycycline, Dirpivan, Fentanyl, etc..
I am very worried now that this could affect the potential fetus; since these medicines are all Category C or D - which means to be avoided.
Can other IVFers who have had OHSS please respond with how did the doctors do their fluid removal; and what medicines were given?
Has anybody ever gotten pregnant in the same cycle when the embryos were transferred but you suffered OHSS?
I am curious if the medicines could cause damage...

Thanks so much for all your help. This whole thing is worrying me; and eating me up. Not sure what to do.

Hi,
I also had to have my stomach drained although i didn't have those drugs mine was done with a local so i was awake and watched the whole thing, I did get pregnant and had a healthy baby boy so good luck to you
Sorry I can't help with the drugs but my doctor believes you have a higher chance of getting pregnant if you suffer from ohss and it worked for me.

Hi
I also had OHSS but wasn't diagnosed or had any syptoms until a week after my first scan which showed 2 heartbeats.

The pain was awful and I was admitted to hospital, I had paracetomol, codeine and then injections of pethadine.

I am now nearly 36 weeks pregnant and although I have not had any of the tests my scans have all been normal.

Take care and I hope everything is okay
Love Lisa x
