Hello girls,

Fiona it is too late, I read the email from Nikola. I was laughing until I realised that could be me in 7 months. Even got DH to come up and read it. He said we better take precautions. I told him he can do all the nappy changes - but he thought that was funnier. I wasn't joking! Hope everything is ok with your scan. Just to add I definately have a pregnant brain. I was leaving a friends house yesterday and went to my car, only my friend had to tell me that wasn't my car. My car was the one in front!! Oh well they were both blue...

On the question of sex, my dh and I have abstained for fear of harming anything until after I've spoken to the nurse after my 7 week scan. Is it safe at this stage or did you all wait? a bit personal I know, sorry.

Tracey, thanks so much for the book title. I am going to look it up now. Need as much prewarning as can get. Starting to get a bit nervous as do not have family in the country. My mum is coming over from Oz for the first 6 weeks though. Tried to persuade her to stay until the twins went to school but she said she would have to draw the line somewhere because dad would miss her! Oh well. I shall make do with 6 weeks. Hope I learn all there is to know (especially about avoiding poo in the face! )

Oh Christina, I hope the scan is ok on Friday. Nurses do tend to paint the worst picture. Last friday they had me thinking I had an ectopic pregnancy and it turned out to be two sacs! I have my fingers crossed for you.

Bina, if you are not happy with your midwife i would try and find another you can be comfortable with. I am having the same dilema about my GP. I am not at all happy with my GP but have put up with it. Now I may have a family I am considering changing. I think it is important that you feel you are a person and not just another patient.

Now for my moan.... I went to M&S to get measured for new bras yesterday. Remembering I am only 6 weeks2days my boob size has gone from DD to F!!!! I am wearing a couple of hammocks. I can't sleep on my boobs becuase they hurt so much and they are so heavy I carry them to the shower!! Has anyone elses had such a spurt in a short time. I will be wearing two parachutes by the time I am ready to give birth!!

Morning sickness has been hovering around 2am most mornings but gone by about 7am. Except for today. 1am I woke up feeling like I was ging to throw up and this lasted until 11am. I had to go to work but each time I tried to review a document I couldn't focus on the words. I am so tired I want to sleep all the time - so much so I feel like I have been drugged. Is this normal? How are others coping with work and their tiredness.

Rant over. Hope everyone is doing well and all scans turn out great.

You did make me laugh about your mum - sex is fine too - with DH! but if you feel better wait until after the scan.

The book double trouble is by Emma Mahoney - just remembered but wil dig the others out for you!

RE Bras - M&S shares must have rocketed!!! Mine went ballistic and have slowed down for ages now but you have to get beyond 24 wks for that! Try GEORGE at ASda - not as good as M&S but so much cheaper and some only lasted me a fortnight!
Love to all

Only a fortnight, Oh my god I'll be broke before the little tackers get here.

I have the next four days off work and I'm lazing around doing nothing. Fabulous... :)

Hello

Very behind with everything today. On the train back from London yesterday after scan, I got a phone call from the school saying my daughter had thrown up and could I take her home. Bit tricky that! I explained my dilemma and the first lady was fine about it. I then got called back by some stroppy cow who insisted I get some one to pick her up asap. My parents were out and eventually I got hold of a friend who picked her up. Spent the whole train journey worrying about her and feeling stressed.

Anyway, she's off school today so we've been lounging on the sofa watching DVD's.

The scan was fine, thank goodness. I still feel strangely lacking in enthusiasm. I think it's because I still expect it all to go horribly wrong.

Christina - best of luck for tomorrow. Try not to worry too much (ha!). I'm sure you'll be fine.

Shellie - so sorry my warning didn't get to you in time. It's a bit late for your DH to suggest taking precautions!!!! Sorrry, poor joke. Still, if he's happy to do all the nappy changes.... We tried not to have sex until after the first scan but failed. It is fine to do 'it' and as I have said elsewhere, we girls have little pleasures left for a few months.

Has anyone else noticed their nails breaking? I went to have my hi-lights done this morning (yes I did take sick daughter. A question of priorities!) and my hairdresser would only do the top as it is in such bad condition. If I remember correctly, they both improve after the first 3 months. Is that right Tracey?

Saw a friend at school yesterday who I was playing tennis with until I became pregnant. She asked me if I was. I said no, then yes. Have decided I can't lie if asked directly. She promised to keep mum!

Bina - definitely try and change your midwife. You need someone supportive that you feel comfortable with, especially after all you've been through to get here. I am booking in next week and will do battle with mine as I want to have the baby in a different county.

Must go and collect Jake from school.

Come on England

Off to watch the footie now - ENGERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

But just had to reply to your bit Fiona - sorry about your daughter - some people get so stroppy  - honestly did laugh over your highlight priorities and I am with Fiona on the sex thing - it really can't harm you at all.

As for nails Fiona - yep exactly right - some people still struggle but lack of calcium I guess and zinc as baby or baies take it all but mine are like talons and kept breaking for a few weeks at around 8-13 weeks - very annoying.

No beers for me but have to beat Switzerland so cuppa tea and biccy time - how sad!

Hi mums to be's
we have had a really bad morning but thankfully everything is ok and baby is fine.
I woke up this morning and had a bit of dark blood when I wiped then when I went to the toilet again there was more and in the toilet as well so I was worried so I phoned Jessops and they were wonderful and said its nothing to worry about as it might be the 2nd sac coming away and as I havent got any pain but they will scan me if it will make me feel better,so they fitted me in for a scan at 10am this morning I have never been so scared but was trying to stay positive thinking its just the 2nd sac,the scan went fine the 2nd sac as gone so the bleeding was prob the sac coming away and the baby was there it was so good to see it again it looked like a baby you could see its spine and legs but it didnt move as it was asleep it was wonderful to see and we are very relived just to see the heartbeating was brilliant.so work have told me I've got to have rest of day of so I've done some housework and thought I'd let you guys know.we are alot more confident now as I'm 12 weeks next week and peanut is here to stay ( our name for our baby ).
Hope evryone else is ok I havent even phoned my midwife its nice to know we've got Jessops there as a safety net.

How worrying - glad all ok though - what a relief and how proud am I of you - you seemed to cope fantastically well. It is amazing how all these things go on around them and little peanut is totally in a world of his/her own! Glad you are being sensible and glad you are thinking positively of the future. 12 wks soon - can't believe it and make the most of the sleeping thing for peanut as soon you will wonder what it is like when they kick to you to death and shuffle around like a dementor
Take care

Hi everyone,

Hope that you are all keeping well. We went for our scan today & to our relief everything is fine. We saw the heart beat also, but it was a little faint, she said it maybe the way the baby is positioned so we go again next week for another scan. Overall the consultant was really happy & whatever was there last week i.e. the blood or fluid has completely gone. She also said that I was 6 weeks :D I was so nervous but now I feel relaxed & very happy.
Its amazing all these emotions & feelings we all go through but it feels better talking about them on here.

So now we are just going to enjoy being pregnant. :)

Just a few questions if anyone has an idea,

Is nookie ok? sorry but we don't have a clue as this is first attempt at ivf. Don't know whats ok and whats not. Does anyone take vitamins etc? If so which ones.

Thank you. Hope you all have a great weekend :)
Take Care

Hi!
Sorry not been on for a bit -been work shocker this week.....

Christina - thats SUCH great news! 6 weeks is early to see the heart beat - so I wouldn't worry at all about it being faint - Thats just great news! HOORAY!! :D

Bina - midwife sounds shocker - don't get why she would choose to do that job if you were going to take that attitude about it - weird - CHANGE IMMEDIATELY if you can! gOOD LUCK WITH THE SCAN - WEDNESDAY RIGHT ??- NOT LONG....EXCITING!!

Gem - pooooor you that sounds very scary - but so pleased you saw everything in the scan -so amazing. You must be SO excited now - I guess your nuchal is next week right??

Hi Tracey - pleased to hear you are tanning up nicely- lucky you ! Am off on hoiday end of next week and am debating having fake tan spray as I really am scarily white and you know what they first couple of days in the bikini is like.......say no more!

My nuchal booked for 5th july. I have to admit I am getting quite nervous and a bit excited - its just feels like its taken FOREVER to get here. Really wish I could have before my holiday. O well!
They said they would do a "regular" scan on Tuesday (10weeks 6 days) before I go away - which I think I'll do.
can anyone tell me - whats the actual difference between a "normal" scan and a nuchal scan (apart from measuring the neck fold) - I think what I'm basically asking is, when I have the scan next week can they see at that point that everything looks okay ? Can you relax a bit ahead of the nuchal scan once you have had a 11 week "normal" scan - or do they just do completely difference tests etc?? Gem - what did they say to you, sounds like everything looked good?? Not sure if this makes ANY sense whatsoever ! You know me - always just like a good old panic about the next hurdle!! Tracey - I feel some wise words may be needed!(or just a basic "shut up I can't even understand what your on about " will do! ) :)

Fiona - so sorry to hear your little girl is poorly - I keep thinking about people i know with 2 children and wondering HOW they coped with being pregnant (sick/ tired etc etc) AND having to look after another - I think you are AMAZING!!

Anyway big Xs

Christina - fantastic news - don't worry it is early to see a h/b so all very promising. As for nookie - go for it - no problems at all. Vitamins - I take pronatal by sanatogen there is pregnacare too - I would just stick to one of these as has the folic acid too.

Caz - shame you can;t get it before the hols - the nuchal that is! Normal versus nuchal - yep basically they will just check measurements of baby crown to rump and then check head measurement and check the number of arms and legs etc. With the nuchal they measure the fold at the back of the neck and also look at the bridge of the nose - otherwise not much different. Not sure they can get everything they want at 10.6 but can get most of it as I had my nuchal at bang on 11wks. If baby is measuring up ok and the placenta looks good etc then you are most of the way there to the magic 12wk mark. They certainly will be able to tell if there are any development issues. These are always worrying times but it is really only a small % that have problems ok so try not to fret yourself silly.
Go for fake tan first - it will make you feel better. I am lucky I suppose in that I am not a pale English rose so never really go white just sort of yellow and with the size now look like a cantaloupe melon - actually am very brown. Had to go and have some rings cut off my fingers today - all very distressing - left it too late to pull them off.
Happy weekend
Love
Tracey

Enjoy your holiday Caz. I hope the weather will be better than it is here at the mo. It rained pretty much all day. It does put a dampener on the spirits.

Tracey I can't believe you had to have your rings cut off. I'll make sure I take mine off every night so as not to go through the same. Are they repairable so you can wear them after the bubs are born?

Gem, I hope the surprise party goes well. We are staying in tonight. There is nothing on tv. Will watch BB later. Made myself a pizza with Ham, spicy sausage, anchivies, olives and jalepeno peppers. I so craved a spicy pizza. Can't be healthy. DH thinks I'll be a nightmare to sleep with tonight. Oh well I enjoyed it.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Hello lovelies
Tracey!! Can't believe you had to have your rings cut off - wow that must have been quite traumatic! wedding rings?? They'll be back on again before you know it! :D
VERY jealous of you being brown too!
Thanks for the tips on the nuchal/ normal scan - I'm just praying the little bean has got a head, 2 legs and 2 arms!!

Gem - I think you are SO right not having a nuchal scan-the bloods will tell you what you need to know anyway. I quite agree why put the stress on yourself if your clinic doesnt do it anyway.

Shellie - Now I HAVE to have a pizza - that sounds so delicious!!!!!

Take care all -speak soon

Hello all only me

Still have all my fingers - thought had got away with it all but serves me right for being smug  I take my engagement ring off every night so knew it was getting tighter - that is fine - that then made me take off my wedding ring which was a struggle but fine so have it on a chain around my neck - hate not wearing it!
HAd the russian wedding ring cut off on my middle finger which was an 18th birthday pressie so no an antique - has not been off in nearly 20 yrs - (gem my birthday is your blood test day and dh the day after!) They can mend it after the twins are born - currently looks like a jigsaw. Just keep an eye on them girls!

CAz - have a lovely holiday.
Went to see Harry Potter yesterday - the twins have not been to the cinema before and went mad - I was so uncomforable - oh well!

Love to all
