My IVF start date was last night and the shot burned pretty bad. It really did hurt. Anything I can do to make this better from now on. My shot is three bravelle and one menapur. The nurse told me that the menapur would sting.

Strangely enough, my first few shots of Menapur stung and left a big red welt but after that, I was fine. I believe that my body adjusted to it.

A few things that you can do:

Make sure that the shot is at room temp when you give it. I would prepare mine and let them come to temp on the counter before injecting.

Some people ice the location before giving the shot, I never did.

Inject slowly.

I'm a nurse and I still thought it burned like crazy. I did the first few days by myself but then my husband offered (surgeon). I can honestly say it was better when he did it because I could look away.

That menopur stings! Hang in there.

Its the menopur I cant stand it either. Let all your meds come to room temp before injecting and also inject slow very slow. I do not use ice prior to injecting but I am told that it helps.
